Green Alert Issued for Missing Sussex County Man

Delaware State Police Troop 5 is issuing a Green Alert for 19-year-old Jeremiah Lofland of Seaford, DE. Jeremiah is a member of the armed forces and was last seen on June 03, 2022, at approximately 10:00 a.m., in the Seaford area. Attempts to contact or locate Jeremiah have been unsuccessful, and there is a true concern for his safety and well-being.

Jeremiah is described as a black male, approximately 5’8” tall, weighing approximately 170 pounds, with black hair and hazel eyes. He has an unknown clothing description.

Anyone with information regarding Jeremiah’s whereabouts is asked to contact Delaware State Police Troop 5 by calling 302-337-1090 or dialing 9-1-1. Troopers Arrest Two Subjects on Gun and Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop

Delaware State Police have arrested 19-year-old Terrence Mears of Cincinnati, Ohio and 19-year-old Jermaine Walker of Felton, DE on drug and weapon charges following a traffic stop that occurred in the Dover area on Tuesday evening.

On May 31, 2022, at approximately 8:59 p.m., troopers on patrol observed a gold Dodge Grand Caravan traveling northbound on Main Street in the area of Port Mahon Road. One of the vehicle’s headlights was not functioning, and a traffic stop was initiated on Main Street. Troopers contacted the occupants of the vehicle, which included operator Terrence Mears, passenger Jermaine Walker, a juvenile female passenger, and an infant. Troopers detected an odor of marijuana emitting from the minivan, and computer checks indicated that Walker had an active capias for his arrest. Both Walker and Mears were taken into custody at the scene without incident. An ensuing search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 87.16 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a High Standard revolver with an obliterated serial number. Walker is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms.

Mears and Walker were transported to Troop 3 and charged with the following crimes:

Terrence Mears:

  • Possession of a Firearm While Possessing a Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Possession of a Weapon With an Obliterated Serial Number (Felony)
  • Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child
  • Failure to Have Two Headlamps

Mears was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 7 and released on $43,001 unsecured bond.

Jermaine Walker:

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Possession of a Weapon With an Obliterated Serial Number (Felony)
  • Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Walker was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $43,001 secured bond.

Troopers Arrest Subject on Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop

Delaware State Police have arrested 32-year-old Pedro Villanueva Frias of Wilmington, DE on felony drug charges following a traffic stop in the Wilmington area on Wednesday afternoon.

On June 1, 2022, at approximately 4:30 p.m., troopers on patrol observed a white Chevrolet Impala parked at the Acme grocery store located at 1308 Centreville Road. Troopers witnessed a hand-to-hand transaction occur between the operator of the Impala and another subject in the parking lot. The Impala then departed from the area and a traffic stop was initiated on Old Capitol Trail. Contact was made with the operator, identified as Pedro Villanueva Frias, and suspected cocaine was observed in plain view. Villanueva Frias was taken into custody at the scene without incident, and a subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of approximately 5.3 grams of cocaine, approximately 4 grams of heroin, and over $850 in suspected drug proceeds.

Villanueva Frias was transported to Troop 6 and charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 2 Quantity (Felony)
  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 2 Quantity (Felony)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 1 Quantity (Felony)

Villanueva Frias was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 11 and released on $38,000 unsecured bond.

Delaware State Police Investigating Robbery of Tobacco Store

Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred in the New Castle area on Tuesday afternoon.

On May 31, 2022, at approximately 5:25 p.m., troopers responded to the Tobacco Express located at 1609 North Dupont Highway for a robbery involving a gun. The investigation revealed that a suspect entered the business and confronted two store employees with a handgun. The suspect removed money from the cash register and directed one of the employees to fill a bag with cartons of cigarettes. The suspect then fled from the store on foot and was last seen heading westbound on McMullen Avenue towards an unknown destination. Neither victim was injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as a middle-aged black male, approximately 5’10” – 6′ tall, with an average build. There are currently no surveillance images available at this time.

The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit is currently investigating the incident. Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this case to contact Detective D. Delaware State Police Investigating Fatal Single Motor Vehicle Collision

Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal single motor vehicle collision that occurred on Route 13 in the New Castle area early this morning.

On June 1, 2022, at approximately 2:09 a.m., a 2017 Honda Pilot pulling a U-Haul trailer was traveling southbound on Route 13 south of Interstate 295. The operator a 65-year-old male of Seaford, DE fell asleep at the wheel and drifted out of the right lane of travel and into the right shoulder.  The right front tire struck a raised curb in the 500 block of North DuPont Highway for first impact.  Following that impact, the Honda rotated counterclockwise until its passenger side struck a large steel support for an overhead roadway sign. The second impact caused the Honda to rotate clockwise in a northerly direction, eventually rolling over into its roof. The Honda slid a short distance on its roof before coming to rest partially within the right shoulder and right lane of travel.

The operator and his front seat passenger were wearing their seatbelts.  Both were transported by ambulance to an area hospital where the operator was admitted for non-life-threatening injuries.  The front seat passenger, a 60-year-old female of Seaord, DE, succumbed to her injuries at the hospital and was pronounced deceased. Identification of the victim is pending notification to the next-of-kin.

Southbound lanes of Route 13 were restricted to just the left lane for approximately 3 hours while the investigation was completed, and the roadway was cleared.

Delaware State Police Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision

Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred in the Frederica area on Sunday afternoon.

On May 29, 2022, at approximately 5:56 p.m., a maroon 2008 Cadillac DTS was traveling westbound on Bowers Beach Road east of Skeeter Neck Road. At this time, the operator of the Cadillac crossed the double-yellow line on the roadway and attempted to pass numerous vehicles that were also traveling westbound. The Cadillac passed these vehicles in the eastbound lane of Bowers Beach Road while continuing westbound. As the Cadillac approached a white 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan traveling eastbound on Bowers Beach Road at the same location, both operators swerved into the eastbound shoulder of the roadway, resulting in a head-on collision between the vehicles.

The operator of the Cadillac, 26-year-old Dillon Satterfield of Frederica, DE, was properly restrained. He was flown via helicopter to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Both the operator of the Volkswagen, a 69-year-old male and the passenger, a 69-year-old female both from Lewes, DE, were properly restrained. The driver was transported via ambulance to an area hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The passenger was transported via ambulance to an area hospital for serious injuries, where she was later pronounced deceased. Identification of the victim is pending notification to the next-of-kin.

No other injuries were reported. Bowers Beach Road remained closed for approximately four hours while the investigation was being conducted.

Troopers obtained an arrest warrant for Satterfield for the following crimes:

  • Vehicular Homicide Second Degree (Felony)
  • Vehicular Assault First Degree (Felony)
  • Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
  • Reckless Driving
  • Improper Passing

Satterfield will be charged upon his release from the hospital.

Troopers Conducting Shooting Investigation

Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the Bear area on Saturday night.

On May 28, 2022, at approximately 10:04 p.m., a 32-year-old Elkton man had an altercation with an unknown suspect in a Wawa parking lot located at 2748 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE. During the altercation the suspect displayed a weapon at the victim. The victim fled in his vehicle southbound to the intersection of Route 896 and Howell School Road while being chased by the suspect. The victim was then confronted a second time by the suspect who pulled near the victim’s vehicle and began firing multiple rounds. The victim vehicle was struck multiple times and the victim was struck one time in the head. After the shooting the victim crashed his vehicle into a ditch and ran to a nearby neighborhood for help. The victim was then transported to an area hospital for medical treatment.

During the shooting a second unrelated vehicle was struck by gunfire. There were no other injuries reported.

The suspect vehicle was described as a black sedan. There is currently no suspect description or surveillance footage available.
