Troopers Seek Public’s Help in Locating Escapee – Newark

Newark, Delaware – The Delaware State Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a 42 year old New Castle County man after he fled from Troop 2 in Newark this morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:38 a.m. today, Wednesday, April 24, 2019, as Robert D. Burke Jr. of New Castle was arrested on multiple offenses including drug charges, disorderly conduct and an out of state fugitive warrant. After Burke’s arraignment he was committed in default of $30,000.00. As the trooper was in the process of transporting Burke to the Howard R. Young Correctional Center, he assaulted the trooper causing minor injuries to the trooper and fled out of the back door to the troop. Troopers are currently conducting a K-9 track. Multiple law enforcement agencies are assisting with the search.

Robert D. Burke Jr. is described as a white male, 5’08” tall and 150 lbs. He was last seen wearing a green hooded sweatshirt (recovered), unknown color of shirt, faded green jeans, brown belt, no shoes unknown color of socks. (Mugshot attached)
