A Criminal History Background Check is obtained through fingerprints. You must provide photo Identification, such as a valid driver’s license or State ID (from any state). You do not need a social security card or a birth certificate.

Driving Privilege Card

Applicants desiring to obtain a Driving Privilege Card (DPC) must first submit fingerprints and other necessary information for SBI to run a search of Delaware State Criminal Databases before applying for a Driving Privilege Card at Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The cost of this service is $72.00.

False Alarm Reduction Program

Police respond to thousands of false alarms per year. In order to reduce the amount of false alarms a law was established that utilizes a third party vendor, named Cry Wolf. Cry Wolf monitors alarms and assess fines to those who do not register their alarms or have on-going false alarms.

Traffic Unit

With an overall mission to reduce motor vehicle collisions, the Traffic Operations Section (TOS) performs an array of diverse functions. The section personnel coordinate Divisional traffic enforcement while conducting statewide record-keeping. The section also provides proactive and reactive enforcement via our Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit (CVEU).​

Please include a copy of your collision information exchange form, in addition to your payment. The fee for a standard collision report is $25.00, and the fee for a fatal collision report is $60.00. Payment can be in the form of a check or money order, made payable to the Delaware State Police.

To report tips on oversize/overweight trucks please call (302) 378-5230. Please provide, if known, the name of the trucking company, description of the truck, the location of the offense, and the nature of the complaint against the truck.
