The Delaware Strategic Highway Safety Plan: Toward Zero Deaths (SHSP) is the guiding document for roadway safety policy setting, education and enforcement programming and safety infrastructure improvements.
The Delaware State Police have seen a recent spike in fatal crashes across the entire state. In conjunction with the Delaware Office of Highways Safety, we are working together to provide our citizens with a few traffic safety reminders.
The Delaware State Police, Delaware Office of Highway Safety, Delaware Department of Transportation and AAA Mid-Atlantic are working together to notify the public about the recent spike in motorcycle crash fatalities in Delaware.
The Delaware State Police want to warn people of the “Delmarva Power” scam that is coming to light again. It has recently been reported that individuals are now responding to residences claiming to be with Delmarva Power or other electric companies requesting to view utility bills.
The Delaware State Police would like to offer the following tips that can help you avoid becoming a victim of a crime when you are out and about. By taking a few simple precautions, you can reduce the risk to yourself, and also discourage those who commit crimes.
Weather forecasts currently indicate a winter storm that will impact the region beginning early tomorrow morning, Saturday, January 7th, and lasting into the afternoon and possibly the early evening. The possibility of heavy snowfall, including a wintry mix, are threats with this storm.
The Delaware State Police would like to offer these pedestrian safety tips to help educate and encourage pedestrians to make smart and safe decisions when walking near roadways.
The Delaware State Police would like to remind motorists that the deer rut and hunting season is fast-approaching during the months of October and November; therefore, we would like to help prevent the spike in deer-related crashes that typically occur every fall in Delaware.

Usually, police officers will pull a vehicle over if they have reason to believe that some offense has occurred. On the other hand, the police may have received a call to check on your welfare. Also the police may want to pass on some important information after a traffic collision or hazardous condition so the motoring public can avoid it. Some police contact may only serve to provide some piece of mind when traveling.
The Delaware State Police strives to provide services to everyone in the community fairly and equally. It is our hope that the information provided will be helpful in explaining why an officer may have to stop and question a citizen and reduce elements of conflict when confronted by an officer.
