Newport, DE- Delaware State Police are currently investigating a single vehicle crash involving an overturned tractor trailer that occurred early this morning just east of Newport.

The initial investigation has determined that the crash occurred at approximately 1:11 a.m. this morning, Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at the ramp to southbound DE Rt. 141 (Basin Road), Newport. As a result of the crash, the tractor trailer overturned as is currently blocking the off-ramp. A male passenger in the tractor trailer was removed from the scene and transported to the Christiana Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. There were no other injuries.

The exit lane to DE Rt. 141 from I-95 southbound is currently closed and is expected to be for some time as the tractor trailer must be off loaded before being removed from the scene. All other southbound lanes of I-95 remain open. Commuters wishing to use the ramp to DE Rt. 141 from I-95 southbound are asked to find alternate routes of travel.

The investigation into this crash by the Delaware State Police is still on-going. More details will be released at the conclusion of the investigation.

Bridgeville, DE- The Delaware State Police are continuing to seek the public’s assistance in locating Ashley N. Gray, 27 of Seaford (2012 photo attached).  Gray is wanted by the state police for Assault 1^st and Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony.

On Thursday July 21,, 2016 around 3:30 p.m. troopers responded to a residence located in the 12000 block of Jones Dogwood Drive for a reported assault. Upon their arrival, it was determined that a 53-year-old male had been cut across the neck with some type of cutting instrument after a verbal altercation between him and Ashley Gray became physical.  Ashley fled the area after the incident in a grey passenger car and has not been located at this time.  The 53-year-old victim was transported to an area hospital where he was admitted due to the severity of his injury and has since been released.

Ashley Gray may be in the Laurel area, but if anyone has any information on her exact whereabouts, they are asked to contact the Detective M. Doughty at 302-752-3794. Bridgeville, DE- The Delaware State Police is asking the public’s assistance in locating Ashley N. Gray, 27 of Seaford (2012 photo attached).  Gray is wanted by the state police for Assault 1^st and Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony.

Troopers Investigating Serious Motorcycle Crash – Clayton

Clayton, DE- Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are currently investigating a serious motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle that occurred last night west of Clayton.

The initial investigation has determined that the crash occurred last night, Saturday, August 28, 2016, at approximately 9:44 p.m., as Robert Kimble, 53 of Maryland, was operating a 2007 Harley Davidson Dyna low rider motorcycle northbound on Blackiston Road north of Chance Road. A 2003 Jeep Liberty, operated by Joy L. Taylor, 42 of Maryland, was northbound on Blackiston in front of the motorcycle. Kimble attempted to pass the Jeep Liberty on a double yellow line and struck left rear fender of the Jeep Liberty. The impact sent the Jeep spinning out of control and into a grass field. Kimble was ejected from the motorcycle as it went down on its left side. The motorcycle slid into the southbound lane where it stopped north of the collision.

Robert A. Kimble, 53 of Maryland, was wearing a helmet. He was treated by paramedics and then was transported by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center with life threatening injuries. Alcohol and speed are factors on the part of Robert A. Kimble.

Joy L. Taylor, 42 of Maryland, and her three passengers were all wearing seatbelts and were uninjured in the collision.

This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit. Blackiston Road in the area of the crash was closed for approximately four hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.

Harrington – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a serious two vehicle crash that occurred yesterday afternoon west of Harrington.

The incident occurred around 4:35 p.m. Tuesday August 30, 2016 as Adam L. Fox, 53 of Frederica, was operating a 2014 Volkswagen Passat southbound on Fox Hunters Road and was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection with Whiteleysburg Road.  Brian J. Ennis, 23 of Lincoln, was operating a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe eastbound on Whiteleysburg Road approaching the intersection with Fox Hunters Road when the Passat pulled into the intersection.  The Tahoe struck the front end of the Passat and began to rotate in a counter-clockwise manner before traveling off the south side of the road where the rear of the Tahoe struck a utility pole.  The SUV then overturned, ejecting Ennis from the vehicle.  The Passat rotated in a counter-clockwise manner and came to a stop in the roadway.

Brian Ennis, who was not properly restrained, was removed from the scene by Delaware State Police Aviation and transported to Christiana Medical Center where he was admitted in critical condition.

Adam Fox was properly restrained and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.  He was treated on the scene by EMS.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident. No charges have been filed at this time.  Whiteleysburg Road at Fox Hunters Road was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

Dover – The Delaware State Police are now accepting applications for the position of Cadet Trooper.

The Cadet Trooper’s primary duties include the enforcement of handicap parking and fire lane violations, however they are also used in various administrative duties such as traffic control at large events and foot patrol at the State Fair. The Cadets will complete 40 hours of mandatory classroom instruction and will be assigned to various troops throughout the state.  Since the program began in 1998, the Delaware State Police have hired 69 Cadet Troopers.  21 of those cadets have been hired as Delaware State Troopers.   

Minimum Qualifications to become a cadet includes:

• Education- Candidates must be a Delaware resident and currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college in the state of Delaware (full-time or part-time)
• Age- Candidates must be between the ages of 18-21
• Citizenship- Candidates must be a citizen of the United States
• Driver’s License- Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license 

Selection Process includes:

• A formal State of Delaware application
• An Oral Board Interview
• Polygraph Examination
• A Background Check

 Wilmington, DE- Delaware State Police are currently investigating the theft of numerous political signs which occurred over the weekend in New Castle County.

The investigation began on Sunday, August 28, 2016, after a 54 year old Wilmington, DE resident, who is currently running for a political office, responded to Troop 1 to report that approximately 425 signs belonging to her campaign have been removed from numerous locations throughout New Castle County. The victim stated that the thefts occurred sometime between Saturday, August 27, 2016 and Sunday, August 28, 2016.

This is an on-going and active investigation by the Delaware State Police. No further information is available at this time and no arrests have been made.

Wilmington, DE – Robert A. Evans, 58, the suspect wanted in a string of burglaries he had committed late last month, was arrested yesterday morning by the Wilmington Police Department after committing a burglary in their jurisdiction.

Evans was arraigned on the below list of charges at JP Court 11 and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution for lack of $12,000.00 cash bail.

Wilmington, DE- Delaware State Police are investigating a series of Wilmington area burglaries and are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a suspect.

Troopers are currently looking for Robert A. Evans, 58, whose last known address was in the 1800 block of N. Broom Street, Wilmington. Evans is believed to be the suspect who committed the burglaries of three businesses located on Kirkwood Highway and on DuPont Road, Wilmington, late last month. In each incident Evans would break out the glass to the door of the targeted business. He would then enter the business and proceed to remove cash before fleeing in an unknown direction. Through multiple interviews and other investigative means, troopers were able to positively identify Robert Evans as the suspect responsible for the burglaries and have obtained warrants charging him with four counts of Burglary 3^rd Degree, four counts of Wearing a Disguise during the Commission of a Felony, four counts of Criminal Mischief, 3 counts of Theft, and one count of Criminal Trespass.

Robert A. Evans is described as a black male. He is 5’09” tall, weighs approximately 160 lbs., and has a bald head and brown eyes.

Evans is suspected of committing the following burglaries:

• La Oaxaquena, 201 N. DuPont Road, Wilmington, July 28, 2016
• Pro Nail, 2411 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, July 31, 2016
• Jakes Burgers, 2405 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, July 31, 2016

Dover– The 2-year-old child that was found wandering in the Redner’s Market parking lot early this morning has been reunited with his parents.

The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. Monday August 29, 2016 when state police were dispatched to the parking lot of Redner’s Market located at 88 Salt Creek Drive, North Dover.  A female employee of Redner’s was just getting off work and upon walking to her car, noticed a small child walking through the parking lot.  The female immediately brought the child back into the store and called 9-1-1.  When the troopers arrived at the store, a search of the surrounding area and parking lot for the parents of the young boy were unsuccessful and with limited vocabulary, the young boy was unable to communicate his or his parent’s names.  Troopers then transported the toddler back to Troop 9 in Odessa where he was given some refreshments and snacks while notifications were made to the Division of Family Services and information was posted to social media and news outlets.

At approximately 7:20 a.m. the father of the child contacted 9-1-1 when he awoke and noticed the young boy was missing from the business in which he works located in the same plaza as Redner’s.  It was later determined through the interviews with the child’s parents, that the 26-year-old father had brought his son with him to his place of business on the previous night and the two fell asleep on a couch.  Sometime in the early morning while the father was still asleep, the child opened the door to the business and walked outside.  After searching the area for the young boy, the father first contacted the 30-year-old mother of the child to find out if she had stopped by to pick him up and then dialed 9-1-1.

Both mother and father, who are from Dover, responded to Troop 9 where they were interviewed and the boy was turned over to his mother.

No charges are forthcoming in this incident and no names will be released.

The young boy is in good health and was transported back to Troop 9 in Odessa where he happy and playing.
