Detectives Investigating Road Rage Shooting on Route 1 in Smyrna

The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting stemming from a road rage incident that occurred Friday night on Route 1 in Smyrna.

On March 14, 2025, at approximately 8:43 p.m., troopers responded to Route 1 southbound, in the area of Exit 119, for a report of a road rage shooting. The preliminary investigation revealed a black Infiniti sedan was involved in a road rage incident with a black pickup truck while driving on Route 1 southbound. During the incident, the suspect vehicle collided with the rear of the victim’s vehicle. The suspect vehicle then drove parallel to the victim’s vehicle, and an unknown suspect discharged a firearm, which struck the victim’s vehicle. The Infiniti’s driver, a 27-year-old Delaware man, and 2 passengers were not injured. Following the shooting, the suspect vehicle did not stop, and continued southbound on Route 1.

There is no additional suspect or suspect vehicle information available at this time.

State Police Detectives Investigating Shooting in Seaford

The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in Seaford last night.

On March 13, 2025, at approximately 10:57 p.m., troopers responded to the 20000 block of Atlanta Road in Seaford for a report of a shooting. The preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown suspect fired an unknown number of shots from an unknown vehicle. A house and a vehicle were hit by gunfire. There were eight people in the house, including a child, at the time of the shooting. No one was injured.

State Police Homicide Detectives Investigating Murder-Suicide in Delmar

The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is investigating a murder-suicide that occurred this morning in Delmar which resulted in the loss of two lives.

On March 13, 2025, at approximately 9:18 a.m., troopers responded to the 10000 block of Country Grove Circle in Delmar for a death investigation. When troopers arrived, they found a 42-year-old woman from Delmar with apparent gunshot wounds, and a 56-year-old man, also from Delmar, with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. They were both pronounced deceased at the scene. The identities of the victim and suspect are being withheld until their families are notified.

State Police Investigating Homicide in Seaford

Delaware State Police are investigating a homicide that occurred yesterday at a park in Seaford.

On March 12, 2025, at approximately 4:24 p.m., officers from the Seaford Police Department and Delaware State Police responded to a report of a shooting at Nutter Park, located at 712 Collins Avenue within the city limits of Seaford. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a 23-year-old man from Seaford, Delaware, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and began life saving efforts. The victim was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries. His identity is being withheld until his family is notified. Two other men, ages, 19 and 21, self-transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. A 23-year-old man also self-transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries related to the shooting.

Due to the nature of the incident, the Seaford Police Department requested the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit to assume the investigation. A preliminary investigation revealed that during a large fight, unidentified suspects fired multiple rounds at the victims.

State Police Investigating Fatal Bicycle Crash in Lewes

Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a bicyclist yesterday in Lewes.

On March 11, 2025, at approximately 12:57 p.m., a Hino ST box truck was traveling northbound on Venables Drive approaching Senators Drive in Lewes. At the same time, a bicyclist was traveling northbound, on a paved bicycle path that parallels Venables Drive, approaching Senators Drive. The preliminary investigation revealed that as the box truck turned eastbound onto Senators Drive, the bicyclist entered Senators Drive. The bicyclist tried to avoid the collision but hit the right rear of the box truck.

The bicyclist, a 68-year-old man from Milton, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital by ambulance, where he died. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

The driver of the Hino box truck, a 26-year-old man from Wilmington, Delaware, and a passenger, a 27-year-old man from New Castle, Delaware, were not injured.

The roadway was closed for approximately two hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

State Police Detectives Investigating Shooting in Lincoln

Delaware State Police Detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred last night in Lincoln.

On March 9, 2025, at approximately 9:25 p.m., troopers responded to the area of Cubbage Drive and Cedar Drive in Lincoln for a report of shooting. When troopers arrived, they found a 24-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is active and ongoing.
