Troopers Arrest Three Following Burger King Robbery

Seaford- Delaware State Police have arrested three subjects following the robbery of a Seaford area Burger King Restaurant that occurred yesterday afternoon.

The investigation determined that the incident occurred at approximately 1:29 p.m. yesterday, Friday, February 17, 2017, as a male suspect, later identified as Michael Jarvis, 47, of Lincoln, DE, entered the Burger King Restaurant, located at 24465 Sussex Highway, Seaford. Jarvis approached the sales counter where he presented and demand note for cash to a female employee. The note implied that Jarvis was armed, however, he did not display a weapon. The employee did not comply with the Jarvis’ demands, and instead, turned the note over to the restaurant manager. The manager complied with the note and turned over an undisclosed amount of money to Jarvis. He then exited the restaurant and fled to an awaiting car, which was parked a short distance away, and which was occupied by two other suspects, later identified as Sara Ryder, 24, of Milford, and William B. Snyder, 38, of Lincoln.  Several restaurant employees and a customer of the restaurant, after realizing a robbery had just occurred, chased Jarvis to the waiting car and were able to obtain its registration number, which they provided to emergency call takers. The vehicle, which was described as a 2008 Toyota Scion, then fled the area operated by Sara Ryder. There were no injuries.

A short time later, officers from the Seaford Police Department who had responded to the area, located the  Scion and conducted a vehicle stop of it. Michael Jarvis, Sara Ryder, and William Snyder were all taken into custody without incident. Evidence linking them to the robbery was located inside of the car.

All three suspects were transported to Troop 5. Michael Jarvis was arrested and charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony, and Conspiracy 2nd Degree. He was arraigned at JP Court 2 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $31,000.00 secured bail.

William Snyder and Sara Ryder were each charged with Robbery 1st Degree and Conspiracy 2nd Degree. Snyder was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $26,000.00 secured bail. Ryder was released after posting $26,000.00 secured bail. There is no mug shot photo available of  Sara Ryder.

Troopers Arrest Man Following Strong-Arm Robbery

Wilmington (19808)- Delaware State Police have arrested a Wilmington man following the strong-arm robbery of a pizza shop employee.

The incident began yesterday, Friday, February 17, 2017, at approximately 9:15 a.m., as a female employee of the Little Caesars Pizza, located at 3613 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, was walking in the parking lot of the business toward her car, carrying a night deposit bag. It was at this time that the victim was approached by a male suspect, who she recognized as Tariq K. Colder, 27, of Wilmington, a former employee of the business. Colder attempted to grab the deposit bag from the victim, however, she refused to let go. The victim and Colder then became involved in a struggle for the bag at which time Colder punched the victim in the face, causing her to fall to the ground and let go of the bag. Colder then fled the area and was last seen running toward the Creeks of Marshallton Apartments, located a short distance away, with the deposit bag. The female victim suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment.

Through further investigation, troopers were able to link Colder to a specific apartment in the Creeks of Marshallton complex. They then responded to the apartment and upon entering, they were able to take Colder into custody without incident. Evidence linking Colder to the robbery was also located inside of the apartment.

Tariq Colder was transported to Troop 2 where he was arrested and charged with Robbery 2nd Degree. He was arraigned at JP Court 2 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in default of $6000.00 cash bail.

Troopers Investigating Shooting – New Castle

New Castle (19720)- Delaware State Police are currently investigating a shooting which occurred late last night in New Castle.

The investigation began at approximately 11:15 p.m. yesterday, Friday, February 17, 2017, after troopers responded to the 700 block of Grantham Lane for the report of a shooting which had occurred. As troopers arrived they were advised that a 24 year old male victim had been shot in his abdomen. The victim was treated at the scene by New Castle County Paramedics before being transported to the Christiana Hospital where he was admitted with serious injuries.

The investigation into this incident is in its early stages. No arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified at this time.

**Traffic Advisory** Troopers Investigating Serious Crash Involving Pedestrian- Rehoboth Beach- Update

Rehoboth Beach– The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate a serious motor vehicle crash in which a pedestrian was struck that occurred early this afternoon north of Rehoboth.

The initial investigation has determined that the crash happened at approximately 12:03 p.m. today, Friday, February 17, 2017, as Brock A. Charles, 32, of Lewes, DE, was attempting to walk in an eastbound direction across the southbound lanes of SR 1 (Coastal Highway), approximately .2 miles north of Shuttle Road. As Charles, who was not utilizing a marked crosswalk, stepped into the right hand lane of SR 1, he was struck by a 2016 Freightliner Tractor pulling a 2013 Great Dane trailer, which was being operated by Michael Jock, 58, of Newark, DE. Charles was thrown in a southbound direction and came to rest in the right hand lane of travel. Michael Jock was able to bring his vehicle to a controlled stop just south of the crash scene.

Brock Charles was treated at the scene by Sussex County Paramedics. He was then transported to Beebe Healthcare where he was stabilized before being transported to the Christiana Hospital and admitted with serious injuries. It is unknown if alcohol or drug use on the part of Charles was a factor in this crash.

Michael Jock, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, was not injured. Alcohol or drug use on the part of Jock is not being considered as a factor in the crash.

Southbound Coastal Highway traffic was restricted to one lane for approximately 3 hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.

This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police.

Troopers Seek Public’s Assistance in Locating Wanted Subject

Lincoln, DE- The Delaware State Police are asking the public’s assistance in attempting to locate a Lincoln woman wanted for Robbery crimes committed in Sussex County.

The initial investigation has determined the incident occurred on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at approximately 6:08 p.m., as a white female arrived at a residence on Cubbage Drive, Lincoln, attempting to sell laundry products. After the victim agreed to purchase products from the suspect she went to retrieve the money from the kitchen. The suspect followed the victim into the kitchen, displayed a knife and demanded her money and property. The victim complied with the suspect’s demands and turned over an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect grabbed the money, multiple credit cards and a cellular phone from the victim. During the robbery another victim at the residence attempted to take a photo of the suspect. The suspect while displaying the knife demanded the cell phone in which the victim refused to comply with her demands. The suspect fled from the residence in an unknown direction. The victims were not injured.

Through investigative measures, Julia N. Vadakin, 23 of Lincoln, was identified as the suspect.  She is described as a white female, approximately  5’07” tall, and weighs approximately 200-225 lbs. There is no further physical or clothing description available. Julia N. Vadakin is also wanted for violation of probation, seven active capiases out of Kent and Sussex County Court of Common Pleas and shoplifting out of the Camden Police Department. (see photo attached)

Rehoboth Beach, De.- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a serious crash involving a pedestrian that occurred today on SR 1 Rehoboth Beach.

The initial investigation has determined the crash occurred at approximately 12:04 p.m. this afternoon, Friday, February 17, 2017, on SR 1 southbound in the area of Holland Glade Road and involves a pedestrian and a semi-truck. Injuries are unknown at this time.

SR 1 southbound is closed to one lane from Sea Air Avenue to Shuttle Road and commuters are asked to drive with caution and find alternate routes of travel.

The investigation into this crash is in its early stages. More information will be released at the conclusion of the investigation.

Troopers Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash- Update #2

Elsmere- The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has identified the 68 year old Newark man who was killed in the three vehicle crash which occurred yesterday afternoon on DE Rt. 141 south of Kirkwood Highway as Dinesh B. Shah.

This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police.

Joint Investigation with the Bethany Beach Police Department Leads to the Arrest of an UBER Driver

Sussex County, De. – The Delaware State Police, in partnership with the Bethany Beach Police Department have arrested a Frankford man after the culmination of a six month long investigation of multiple burglaries in Sussex County.

The initial investigation began in August 2016 as the Delaware State Police Burglary Unit Detectives were able to link the suspect, Saddam A. Awadallah, 26 of Frankford, to multiple burglaries in the Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island areas.

Through investigative measures and numerous interviews an Uber driver, identified as Saddam Awadallah, was developed as the suspect in the burglaries. The investigation revealed Awadallah drove a white 2004 Toyota Sienna van and would transport individuals from their residences to local area businesses and restaurants located in the Ocean City and the Dewey Beach areas.

While his Uber passengers were away from their residences, he would return back to the their vacant homes to steal various items. These incidents all occurred in a narrow timeframe during the night while the victims were away.  The suspect snatched credit cards, computers, watches, cell phones, tablets, sunglasses, and other various items.

Degree, Possession of Burglar Tools, Theft with a victim 62 YOA or older, 11 counts of Theft, and Criminal Mischief. Saddam A. Awadallah was arraigned before the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas and subsequently committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of a $31,000.00 secured bond.

These incidents remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police and detectives are asking anyone who may have been a victim or may have any information in reference to these incidents to contact Detective T.
