Newark – Delaware State Police have arrested a Wilmington man for a string of burglaries which occurred over a two month time period at businesses throughout New Castle County.

Troop 2 detectives have arrested Eric Jackson, 44, of Wilmington, in connection with multiple burglaries at businesses located in North Wilmington, Bear, Glasgow and Middletown. The incidents occurred between September 13 and November 8, 2017. In each of the incidents Jackson would break a window with a blunt object to gain access, and then once inside, would target large quantities of cigarettes and lottery tickets.

Through various investigative measures and leads, detectives were able to confirm that the same suspect was responsible for each burglary. Detectives were also able to develop and positively identify a Toyota RAV 4, as a suspect vehicle.

On Wednesday, November 8, 2017 detectives were able to locate the Toyota in the area of the BP gas station located at 1923 Pulaski Highway, Bear, which was the most recent business to be burglarized. They then observed a black male, who was positively identified as Jackson, walk towards the vehicle. Contact was made with Jackson and he was taken into custody without incident. A subsequent search of the Toyota produced further evidence linking him to the burglaries.

In addition to the above Pulaski Highway BP gas station the following businesses were also burglarized.

  • Shop Rite 1300 Rocky Run Parkway, Wilmington
  • Dollar General 1605 Red Lion Road, Bear
  • Valero gas station 4434 Summit Bridge Road, Middletown
  • BP gas station 2360 Pulaski Highway, Glasgow

As well as four counts each of Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of Burglary Tools and Criminal Mischief.

The investigation, which involved patrol Troopers from both Troop 3 and Troop 5, as well as detectives from Troop 3 and Troop 4, began at approximately 5:01 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2017, when Troopers responded to Al’s Country Store, located at 4937 Hickman Road., Greenwood, for the report of an attempted burglary.
