Dover – The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is currently investigating a Trooper involved shooting in which a suspect was fatally wounded.

The initial investigation has determined that at approximately 3:11 a.m., Saturday, December 9, 2017, a Trooper assigned to Troop 3 in Camden, stopped a vehicle, on Fieldstone Court, in the area of Kenton Road, Dover.

The Trooper approached the vehicle, at which time the front seat passenger displayed a weapon, with an exchange of gunfire ensuing. The 16 year old, male suspect, was shot during the exchange, and succumbed to his injuries after being transported to an area hospital. The 18 year old male driver of the vehicle, sustained a gun shot wound to his leg and was treated and released from the hospital. A 17 year old rear seat passenger in the vehicle was uninjured as a result of the incident. The Trooper was also not injured.

The investigation is active and ongoing, with further details being released as they become available.

Millsboro – Delaware State Police have arrested a Millsboro man who led them on chase after committing a carjacking at knifepoint.

The incident began at approximately 4:55 p.m., Friday, December 8, 2017, in the parking lot of the Dollar General, located 26012 John J. Williams Highway, Millsboro. A 23 year old Millsboro woman, parked her 1998 Honda CRV, and entered the Dollar General to make a purchase. The woman’s 1 and 2 year old children, remained in the vehicle, along with her 14 year old sister.

As the children waited in the vehicle, a subject later identified as Scott K. Roschel, 45, of Millsboro, accessed the vehicle via the driver’s side door, displayed a knife to the 14 year old and ordered her out of the vehicle. Roschel allowed the 14 year old, to remove the two infants, prior to him fleeing in the vehicle. None of the children were injured as a result of the incident.

A general broadcast was put out, with a description of the vehicle, and at approximately 5:15 p.m., it was located on Route 24 in Longneck. Troopers attempted a traffic stop, however Roschel refused to comply, and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit concluded on Hudson Road, in the area of Eagle Crest Road, east of Milton, when Roschel lost control and struck a utility pole. Roschel was taken into custody, before being transported to an area hospital with undetermined injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

A warrant was accomplished, charging Roschel with one count each of, Carjacking 1^st Degree, Robbery 1^st Degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, Aggravated Menacing, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, as well as three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Arrest and arraignment will be accomplished upon Roschel’s discharge from the hospital.

Newark – Delaware State Police are asking for the public’s assistance, in identifying the two shoplifting suspects pictured above, who are responsible for stealing over $4300.00 worth of designer clothing, from the Saks Off 5^th department store, located at 2500 Fashion Center Boulevard, Newark.

The investigation has determined that at approximately 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November, 28, 2017, the two suspects were observed by store employees exiting the store, with a large quantity of merchandise, which they had not rendered payment for. The suspects successfully evaded apprehension and were able to flee with the merchandise which was valued at approximately $2500.00

Later this same date, at approximately 3:45 p.m., both suspects were again observed by Saks employees inside the store, this time as they were concealing merchandise in their purses and other shopping bags. Both suspects exited the store without rendering payment for the merchandise, which was valued at over $1800.00, and again evaded apprehension, as they fled in an awaiting vehicle.

Suspect #1 is described as a black female, 18-21 years of age, 5’6”-5’8”, large build, with reddish colored hair.

Suspect #2 is described as a black female, 17-21 years of age, with a small build.

The suspect vehicle is a red, 2017 Hyundai Sonata, with New York tags, driven by a black male.

Stanton – Delaware State Police are investigating a home invasion robbery involving two suspects, one of which was armed with a handgun.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:06 a.m., Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at an address, in the 500 block of Main Street, Stanton. A 53 year old, male occupant, answered a knock at the door, at which time two suspects, one of them armed with a handgun, knocked him to the ground, and gained access to the residence.

Suspect #1, who was armed, began asking the whereabouts of a female subject, who he claimed owed him money. The victim advised that there was no one by that name currently at, or in any way associated with the residence. The suspects then moved throughout the residence, coming upon three other occupants who were asleep in different rooms. These occupants included a 34 year old female, a 55 year old male, and a 9 year old male. As the suspects moved from room to room, they took possession of an undisclosed amount of cash, along with one cell phone, before fleeing. None of the victims were injured as a result of the incident.

Suspect #1 was described as a black male, 5’11”, wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, dark colored ski mask, armed with an unknown make and model, small, black handgun.

Suspect #2 was described as a white male, 6’2”, thin build, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and a white mask.

Dover- Members of the Kent County Drug Unit (KDU), with the assistance of  Kent County Governor’s Task Force (GTF), and Smyrna Police Department concluded a drug investigation with the arrest of two people.

On Thursday, December 7, 2017, members of KDU with the assistance of Kent GTF and Smyrna Police Department concluded a cocaine investigation in the 200 block of Kentwood Drive, Kentwood Mobile Home Park. The Kent County Drug Unit received information on a subject that was selling large quantities of cocaine throughout the Kent County area.   The suspect, identified as Lex D. Draper, 50 of Dover was reported to be delivering an undisclosed amount of cocaine in the Dover area.  Surveillance was conducted and subsequently confirmed this criminal activity.  Draper along with an accomplice, identified as Charles F. Kite, 54 of Dover were in a 2002 GMC Yukon in the area of Rose Valley School Road when they were taken into custody without incident. Draper and Kite were found to be in possession of 15.71 grams of cocaine, and both were charged with the following; Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Conspiracy 2^nd Degree, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Draper and Kite were both arraigned out of Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on  $72,200.00 secured bond.

Dover, DE- The Delaware State Police Sex Offender Apprehension and Registration Unit (S.O.A.R) is currently looking for the following wanted sex offender after he absconded from a facility in New Castle.

Henry “Hank” Wojnisz Jr., 33 of Milton who is 5’8″ tall and 165 lbs., is currently wanted for Violation of Probation and Failure to Re-Register as a Sex Offender.  His last known whereabouts were reported in New Castle County.

Milton- The Delaware State Police are seeking the public’s assistance in attempting to identify the subject in these surveillance photographs who was involved in the robbery of a gas station.

The incident occurred around 7:42 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2017, as a male subject armed with a handgun entered the Valero Gas Station located at 25576 Deep Branch Road. The suspect approached the clerk at the counter and demanded cash from the register. The employee complied with the suspect’s demands and the suspect was able to remove an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect fled the store in an unknown direction. The clerk was not injured.

The suspect (pictured) was described as a white male, thin build, approximately 5’6’’ to 5’8’’ tall, wearing a dark colored hooded sweat shirt, camouflage face mask, blue jeans, dark colored sneakers and armed with a handgun.

Milton – The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery of a gas station that occurred last evening north of Milton.

The preliminary investigation has determined the incident occurred around 7:42 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2017, as a male subject armed with a handgun entered the Valero Gas Station located at 25576 Deep Branch Road. Newark – Delaware State Police are investigating a motor vehicle crash involving  a school bus, which was transporting students from Thurgood Marshall Elementary School.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:10 p.m., Thursday, December 7, 2017, at the intersection of Old Baltimore Pike and Walther Road, Newark. A 2010, Blue Bird school bus, driven by a 25 year old New Castle man, was traveling Walther Road northbound, proceeding through the intersection with Old Baltimore Pike, with a green light. A 2005, Chrysler Town and Country mini-van, being driven by James Hutchinson, 29, of Bear, was traveling Old Baltimore Pike westbound, and failed to stop at the red light at Walther Road, at which time the front end of his vehicle struck the right side of the bus.

Hutchinson, along with a 21 year Wilmington woman, who was a front seat passenger in his vehicle, were both transported to the Christiana Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver, as well as the fourteen student passengers on the bus were uninjured. Neither impairment, nor improper driving is being considered a factor on behalf of the bus driver.

Hutchinson was charged with Disregarding a Red Light and Inattentive Driving.

Magnolia – The Delaware State Police have arrested a 46-year-old Magnolia man after an investigation revealed he endangered the welfare of several children and offensively touched another child while transporting them from school.

The incidences occurred on Tuesday, November 14, and Wednesday November 15, 2017, when the Lake Forest School District contacted the Delaware State Police after they viewed video surveillance of a van driver making inappropriate comments to the children on the van.  The suspect, a van driver for Beachy Transportation was identified as Jeffery L. Dennison, 46 of Magnolia. The Lake Forest School District contracts bus drivers from Beachy Transportation to transport their students. Dennison was responsible for driving students that lived out of the school district to and from school. He picked up students at Lake Forest North Elementary, Lake Forest Central Elementary and WT. Chipman Middle School. Through the video surveillance obtained from the van, it was discovered that while transporting the students home from school, Dennison would play “double-dare” and “truth or dare” with them. At the time of these incidences, there were approximately five to six children on the van ranging from ages seven to thirteen. One of the children on the van “double dared” Dennison to pull the van over on the shoulder of the roadway. It was discovered that on two different occasions while playing “double-dare”, Dennison pulled the van over on the shoulder of a busy roadway and had a child get out of the van. Dennison then drove away leaving the child to run after the van. It was also discovered that on one occasion, Dennison had pulled the van over and assaulted a nine year old student.

On Wednesday, December  6, 2017, Delaware State Police arrested Dennison and charged him with 11 counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of offensive touching on a child. Dennison was arraigned out of Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $6000.00 unsecured bond.
