Wilmington (19808) – Delaware State Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the above suspects, who are wanted in connection with the theft of multiple cell phones from an area cellular phone store.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:58 p.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the T-Mobile store located at 4542 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, when the above pictured suspects entered the business and removed three cell phones from the display counter before fleeing on foot.

Suspect #1 was described as a black male, 5’10”-6”2”, 180 lbs., wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and black hat.

Suspect #2 was described as a black male, 5’10”-6’2”, 180 lbs., wearing a blue coat with gray hood, black pants and a black hat.

New Castle – Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a New Castle area gas station that occurred this morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:07 a.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at the Shell gas station located at 299 Christiana Road, New Castle. As the cashier opened the register in order to complete a transaction for a customer, a white male suspect who had been seen wandering the store, rushed behind the sales counter and grabbed cash from the open register. Once obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash the suspect fled on foot towards Appleby Road. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect is described as a white male, 20-30 years of age, 5’7”-5’10”, 230-250 lbs., wearing a light colored hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and dark knit hat. The suspect did not display or imply a weapon.

No surveillance images are available at this time.

Millsboro (19966)– The Delaware State Police Major Crimes Unit have identified the suspect involved in a stabbing incident and are seeking the publics help in locating him.

The investigation began on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at approximately 8:20 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the intersection of Townsend Road and Harmony Cemetery Road for a reported stabbing.  Upon arrival, units made contact with a 38-year-old victim of Milford who was sitting on the side of the roadway with stab wounds to his extremities.  The 38-year-old victim was removed from the scene by Emergency Medical Services and transported to a local area hospital.

Preliminary investigation revealed that while the 38-year-old victim was a passenger in a vehicle, he engaged in a verbal argument with another passenger.  The argument escalated at which point the driver stopped at the intersection of Townsend Road and Harmony Cemetery Road.  While still seated in the vehicle, the passenger suspect had stabbed the victim.  The victim was able to exit the vehicle prior to the suspect fleeing the scene.

Through investigative measures, Troopers were able to identify the suspect as 47-year-old Lavocia I. Callahan of Wilmington.  Warrants have been obtained for Callahan’s arrest including charges of Assault First Degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, Aggravated Menacing, and Terroristic Threatening.

Troopers have been unable to locate Callahan and asks anyone with information in reference to his whereabouts to please contact Detective D. Lincoln–  The Delaware State Police arrested two juveniles in connection with multiple burglaries in the Cedar Creek Estates development.

On Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at approximately 7:12 p.m., Troopers were dispatched to a burglary complaint in the 20000 block of West Mayhew Drive, Cedar Creek Estates.  During this burglary, forced entry was made and the residence was extensively ransacked, and multiple items were stolen, including electronics and purses.  While Troopers were investigating this incident, they were informed of two additional burglaries that occurred within the same development in which electronics and jewelry were also stolen.

Through investigative measures, Troopers were able to identify two suspects, 14-year-old Dallas Mohler of Lewes and 14-year-old Jaliel Perry of Lincoln.  While attempting to locate the suspects, Troopers observed the juveniles walking in the Cedar Creek Estates development carrying backpacks.  The suspects were subsequently detained and their backpacks were seized without incident.   Both backpacks contained stolen jewelry and other associated property from the reported burglaries.  Consent was granted by Perry’s grandmother to search the residence in which Perry resides.  During this search, multiple electronics and other suspected stolen property was seized from the residence.

Both juveniles were transported back to Troop 7 where they were each charged with three counts of the following: Burglary 2nd (Felony), Theft, Criminal Mischief, and Conspiracy 2nd (Felony).  Both were arraigned and committed to the Stevenson House Detention Center on $6,000 secured bond.

During the month of January 2018, Troop 7 units handled multiple complaints involving thefts from unsecured vehicles in the Lincoln (Cedar Creek Estates) and Lewes (Reserves at Lewes Landing) area.  Both juveniles are suspects in these cases and the Property Crimes Unit will continue to investigate these complaints and exam the seized property.  Anyone with information pertaining to these cases is asked to please contact Troop 4 Property Crimes Unit at 302-752-3800.  Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, via the internet at http://www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com.

Blades- The Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery of a Liquor store that occurred last evening.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:35 p.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at the Concord Liquor Store located at 8774 Concord Road. A subject entered the business armed with a handgun and demanded money from the store clerk. The suspect discharged his weapon narrowly missing the clerk. The store clerk turned over an undisclosed amount of cash prior to the suspect fleeing the scene in a dark colored passenger vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect had entered the business approximately ten minutes prior to the robbery and made a purchase. Through investigative measures, Troopers were able to identify 30-year-old James M. Finney of Seaford as the suspect.

Finney is described as a black male with a beard, 5’11” tall, 187 lbs., wearing a light colored long sleeve shirt, dark colored sweatpants, and armed with a handgun.

Warrants for the arrest of Finney including charges of Robbery First Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Aggravated Menacing, Reckless Endanger First Degree, and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited have been obtained. The store clerk was not injured as a result of this incident.

Finney is also a Tier II sex offender and has an active warrant for failure to verify his address.

The case remains under investigation. Troopers have been unable to located Finney and asks anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to please contact Troop 4 Major Crimes Unit, Detective D. New Castle (19720)– The New Castle County Governor’s Task Force (GTF) has arrested a subject for weapons charges after being stopped for a traffic violation.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at approximately 2:45 a.m. as members of GTF conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Christiana Road (SR 273) and Fresconi Court on a 2014 Dodge Charger for a traffic violation.  The driver was identified as 28-year-old Michael T. Davis Jr. of Glenside PA.  During the stop, it was learned that Davis was a subject on probation from Pennsylvania for felony firearm charges and he was in violation of probation for curfew and being out of state.  Upon contact with Davis, officers detected an odor of marijuana from the vehicle and subsequently had him exit the vehicle.  A search of Davis’ vehicle was conducted, and located was a .40 caliber Glock handgun concealed in the dashboard.  When Davis observed the GTF members locate the firearm, he reacted by pushing unit members and attempting to flee on foot.  A brief foot pursuit ensued in which Davis was eventually taken into custody.

Davis was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Possession of Ammunition by Person Prohibited, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, Assault 2nd on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Operating a Vehicle With Improper Window Tint.  Davis was arraigned out of the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $33,502.00 cash only bond.

The Delaware State Police Troop 3 Administration held a community meeting on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Troop located at 3759 South State Street, Camden. Troopers were privileged to have hosted a Town Hall Meeting where the public was provided with an overview of the great work done by the men and women of DSP Troop 3 in 2017.  Achieving a 35.7% reduction in Robberies, a 20.8% reduction in Burglaries, a 16.7% reduction in Thefts, as well as a 3.4% reduction in overall crashes simply exemplifies the exceptional work the troopers are doing.  Moreover, when you examine many of our clearance rates of crime against the national averages, we demonstrate a deep desire to solve our crime.  A Robbery clearance rate of 61.1% versus the national average of 29.3%, a Burglary clearance rate of 39.4% versus the national average of 13.1%, and a Theft clearance rate of 42% versus the national average of 20.4% clearly shows the dedication of our troopers to solve crime when it occurs.

Equally important to our crime fighting and traffic enforcement measures is our commitment to suppress and prevent crime through our Community Outreach and Engagement efforts.  In 2017, Troop 3 embarked on several community based programs to build trust, open lines of communication, foster positive and open relationships that are inclusive of all citizens and the police, all aimed at crime reduction and making our communities as safe as possible.  Programs such as STaRS (State Troopers actively Reaching Students), Honorary Commander, Community Café’s, It’s Cool to go back to School, working with Meals on Wheels, having our Mounted Patrol Unit patrolling on horseback in many of our communities and Operation Troopers have Your BACkpack are some examples.  These pro-active efforts allow our troopers to engage the community in non-traditional law enforcement ways that leads to a better understanding of the Delaware State Police, builds trust amongst our comminutes, and legitimizes our role as law enforcement officers while providing a better understanding of the various cultures that exist within our communities across Kent County.

We truly appreciate the standing room only crowd and the many state and local legislators who gave up their Thursday evening to come out and learn more about DSP Troop 3.

Claymont – Delaware State Police are continuing their investigation into a motor vehicle crash that occurred yesterday afternoon on Harvey Road, between Wilson Road and Madison Avenue, Claymont.

The investigation has determined that at approximately 2:23 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018, a 1999 Dodge Dakota was traveling westbound on Harvey Road, when the driver, a 75 year old Claymont man, is believed to have suffered a medical event, which caused him to lose control of his vehicle. The Dodge traveled off the roadway, striking a utility pole on Harvey Road in the area Wilson Road, then continued westbound, before coming to rest in the front yard of a residence in the 600 block of Harvey Road.

The operator of the vehicle was treated on scene by EMS before being transported to the Christiana Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

There were no other occupants in the Dodge and no other vehicles were involved.

Harvey Road between Wilson Road and Madison Avenue was closed for approximately 3 hours as crews repaired the utility pole.

Claymont – Delaware State Police are currently on scene of a serious motor vehicle crash, that occurred at approximately 2:23 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018, which has Harvey Road closed in the area of Madison Avenue, Claymont.
