*Update* Suspect Arrested in Pharmacy Robbery-Wilmington

Wilmington (19803)– Delaware State Police have arrested one suspect in connection with the robbery of a Wilmington area pharmacy.

The incident occurred on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at approximately 8:40 p.m., as a male and a female entered the CVS Pharmacy located at 4020 Concord Pike, and picked up shopping baskets.  The suspects loaded the shopping baskets with over $100.00 in merchandise, consisting mainly of deodorants, body washes, and hand lotions.

The male suspect identified as 20-year-old Raquan White of New Castle was arrested on Sunday, May 13, 2018, while working at a Wawa, located at 2748-54 Pulaski Highway, Newark.  He was transported to Troop 1 where he was charged with Robbery 2nd and Conspiracy 2nd.  White was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $4,000.00 secured bond.

*Update* Victim’s Name Released and Suspect Wanted in Homicide Investigation-Bridgeville

The investigation began on Friday, May 11, 2018, at approximately 8:20 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the 21000 block of Mill Park Drive, for a report of a shooting.  Upon their arrival, Troopers observed a male subject on the side of the road with apparent gunshot wounds.  The 41-year-old male victim, identified as Corey Bailey of Bridgeville, was transported to a local hospital by EMS, where he was pronounced deceased.

Through investigative measures, detectives were able to identify a suspect, 28-year-old Mcarthur M. Risper Jr. of Bridgeville.  Risper currently has active warrants for Murder First Degree, Conspiracy First Degree, and two counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.

*Update* Troopers Investigating Crash Involving a Pedestrian-Wilmington

Wilmington (19808)– The Delaware State Police are continuing to investigate a serious crash involving a pedestrian that occurred on Friday, May 11, 2018 at approximately 8:57 p.m. on eastbound Kirkwood Highway (DE SR 2) at Duncan Road.

The initial investigation has determined that a 2009 Honda Accord, was traveling in the center lane of DE SR 2 at the intersection of Duncan Road.  As the Honda continued east from Duncan Road, a pedestrian, 30-year-old woman of Wilmington walked out into the eastbound lanes of DE SR 2 from the center concrete median and into the path of the Honda.  The front of the Honda struck the pedestrian, causing her to be thrown into the left lane of travel where she came to rest.  The operator of the Honda was able to come to a controlled stop and remained on scene.

The pedestrian was not utilizing a marked crosswalk, wearing any type of reflective material, or carrying a flashlight. She was transported to the Christiana Hospital with serious injuries. It is unknown at this time if impairment is a contributing factor on her behalf.

The 37-year-old female operator of the Honda was properly restrained and not injured as a result of this crash.  Neither impairment nor speed on the part of the operator are a factor in this collision.

Traffic was restricted to the far right lane on eastbound DE SR 2 as the collision was investigated and cleared.

Bridgeville (19933)– The Delaware State Police are conducting an investigation into a homicide that occurred Friday evening.

Wilmington (19808)- Delaware State Police are on scene of a crash involving a pedestrian that occurred at approximately 8:57 p.m., Friday, May 11, 2018, which has the eastbound lanes of Kirkwood Highway and the westbound left turn lane at Duncan Road closed.

*Update#2* Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash Involving Motorcycle- Claymont

Harvey Rd. at Green St.

Claymont – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle that occurred at approximately 5:14 p.m., Thursday, May, 10, 2018, on Harvey Road in the area of Green Street.

The initial investigation has determined that a 1986 Harley Davidson XL-8, being operated by 62 year old James W. Hughes of Claymont was traveling westbound on Harvey Road, west of Green Street. A 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer being driven by a 25 year old Wilmington woman was also traveling westbound on Harvey Road, following directly behind the Harley Davidson. The front end of the Mitsubishi struck the rear of the Harley Davidson, with the impact ejecting the operator over the handlebars onto the roadway. After the collision the Mitsubishi came to a controlled stop and remained at the scene.

Hughes was transported to the Christiana Hospital by EMS in critical condition.  Hughes later succumb to his injures on Friday, May 11, 2018.

The operator of the Mitsubishi was not injured as a result of the collision.  No charges have been filed at this time.

Harvey Road was closed for approximately 2 hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.

Troopers Investigate Pharmacy Robbery-Wilmington

Wilmington (19803)– Delaware State Police are currently investigating the robbery of a Wilmington area pharmacy that occurred last evening in which one suspect has been identified.

The incident occurred on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at approximately 8:40 p.m., as a male and a female entered the CVS Pharmacy located at 4020 Concord Pike, and picked up shopping baskets.  The suspects loaded the shopping baskets with over $100.00 in merchandise, consisting mainly of deodorants, body washes, and hand lotions.

As the suspects proceeded to exit the store, an 18-year-old female employee attempted to stop them.  The female suspect assaulted the employee while trying to flee.  The suspects fled from the business without rendering payment for the merchandise.  They were seen leaving the area in a silver Honda Civic.  The 18-year-old employee sustained minor injuries.

The male suspect has been identified as 20-year-old Raquan White of New Castle.  The female suspect as not been identified and was described as a black female, 20-25 of age, 5’4”-5’6” tall, 130-140 lbs., with straight black hair and wearing a denim jacket.

Reaquan White currently has active warrants out of Troop 1 for Robbery 2nd and Conspiracy 2nd.

Troopers have been unable to locate White and asks if anyone has any information in reference to his whereabouts or the identity of the second suspect to please contact Troop 1, Master Corporal B. Delaware State Police Honors Graduates of the Citizen’s Police Academy

Dover-The Delaware State Police recognized 20 graduates during a ceremony for the Citizen’s Police Academy Class on Thursday, May 10, 2018. The event was held at the Delaware State Police Troop 3 located at 3759 S. State Street, Camden.

The academy class learned about a wide variety of police activities consistent with what a Delaware Trooper experiences today during the seven consecutive sessions. The class started on March 29, 2018 to May 10, 2018, included criminal and traffic investigations, special units, tours, and various other law enforcement related topics. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to ride with patrol troopers.

During this program the CPA attendees sacrificed their valuable time to learn more about the DSP and it various units. Some of the highlighted presentations and special units who presented consisted of the DSP Museum, DSP Academy, K-9 Demonstration, Collision Reconstruction Unit, Violent Intruder Preparedness and Response, Delaware Gaming Enforcement, DSP Mounted Patrol Unit, Special Operation Response Team, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Scuba Team, Motorcycle Unit, Community Outreach Unit, and the Firearms Training Unit.

On the final night of the program, the class was recognized by the keynote speaker, Superintendent of the Delaware State Police, Colonel Nathaniel McQueen Jr., Lieutenant Colonel Monroe Hudson, and Operations Officer for Kent and Sussex County, Major Sean Moriarty.  They presented formal certificates of appreciation to the class attendees.  The class spokesperson, Mr. John Greene offered a few remarks highlighting the accomplishments over the past seven weeks.
