Newport, Delaware – The Delaware State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred earlier this morning on John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway (I95) east of the I-95 ramp.

The incident occurred on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at approximately 4:51 a.m., when a 2013 Dodge Caravan, operated by 30 year old female of North Carolina, was traveling in the left lane on I-95 southbound approaching Churchman’s Road. A 2003 Honda Accord, operated by a 24-year-old female of Dover, Delaware was traveling in the right middle lane on southbound I-95 just ahead of the Dodge Caravan. The Honda Accord was seen traveling at a high rate of speed following vehicles too closely and subsequently slammed on the brakes causing her to lose control and veer left crossing all southbound lanes. The Accord struck the concrete barrier with it’s front left bumper and then became disabled in the left lane facing northbound on I-95 southbound. The Dodge Caravan’s front center bumper then struck the Accord’s front center bumper and continued southbound with it’s front bumper striking the concrete barrier.

The driver of the Dodge Caravan and her two passengers, 11 year old and five year old, were transported from the scene by EMS to the Christiana Hospital with injuries.

The driver of the Honda Accord was transported from the scene by EMS to the Christiana Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver was ticketed for unsafe speed.

I-95 southbound in the area of the ramp was closed for approximately one hour while the crash was investigated and cleared.

Dover – The Delaware State Police have identified 59 year old Richard Duffy of Hartly, as the operator of a bicycle that was struck and killed in a collision that occurred at approximately 9:19 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2019.

The investigation determined that a 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser, operated by a 56 year old Hartly woman was traveling westbound on Forest Ave. (Rt. 8), east of Victory Chapel Rd. Duffy was riding a bicycle in a north-westerly direction on Forest Ave. when he crossed directly in to the path of the Chrysler, at which time he was struck and thrown to the pavement.

Duffy, who was wearing all dark clothing at the time of the incident and not wearing a helmet, was transported to Kent General Hospital with serious injuries. He succumbed to those injuries and was pronounced deceased on Friday, March 29, 2019.

Neither improper driving nor impairment are contributing factors on behalf of the driver of the Chrysler.

Dagsboro- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred last evening.

The incident occurred on March 27, 2019 at approximately 9:24 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to Irons Lane and Old Mill Road for a report of a shooting.  Upon arrival, Troopers located a male subject who had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper torso.

The victim, a 16-year-old male was transported to Beebe Hospital in serious condition and later transported to A.I. DuPont Hospital.

The case is in its early stages and continues to remain under investigation with further information being released as it becomes available. Dover- The Delaware State Police are now accepting applications for the Spring 2019 Citizens Police Academy.

The 2019 Spring Delaware State Police Citizen’s Police Academy will begin on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 and will conclude on Wednesday June 19. The academy will consist of eight, Wednesday night sessions, running from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Most of the classes will take place at Delaware State Police Troop 2, located at 100 Lagrange Avenue, Newark, DE. Participants will learn about a wide variety of police activities consistent with what a Delaware Trooper experiences today. The instruction includes criminal and traffic investigations, special units, and various other law enforcement related topics. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to ride with patrol troopers. Class size will be limited to 20 participants and a background check will be conducted on all applicants. Deadline for registration is April 17, 2019. Applications must be returned by the deadline in order to be processed. Laurel– The Delaware State Police in conjunction with the Delaware Department of Justice have indicted a Laurel man for murder and related charges in connection with a homicide that occurred between March 6, and March 8, 2019.

The investigation began on March 9, 2019 at approximately 7:24 a.m., when Troopers were dispatched to S. Shell Bridge Road in the area of Broad Creek Estates for a victim that was found deceased on the side of the roadway. It was later determined that the cause and manner of death was ruled a homicide, sustained from a gunshot wound to the upper torso.

The victim has been identified by the Delaware Division of Forensic Science as 34-year-old Tia A. Tucker of Seaford.

Through further investigations, the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit identified the suspect as 32-year-old Joseph Beck (photo 2010).  On March 25, 2019, Beck was indicted on the following charges:

• Murder First Degree
• Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
• Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
• Abuse of Corpse

Beck is currently being held in Virginia, awaiting his extradition back to Delaware.

The case continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit.

The Delaware State Police is asking for the public’s assistance in locating, Shaquan D. King, 30 of Bridgeton, New Jersey, as she is wanted for her involvement in an organized retail theft ring.

During the month of March 2019, Shaquan D. King along with another unknown female suspect have conspired to steal large quantities of over the counter medication from various Acme locations in Delaware. The medication stolen is worth over $1,600.00

Delaware State Police Troop 6, Troop 2 and the Newark Police Department have active felony warrants on file stemming from multiple theft incidents that have occurred at 200 Lantana Drive, Lantana Square Shopping Center, Hockessin, New Castle County and other locations throughout New Castle County, DE.

The suspects have been seen occupying a 2011 Gray Nissan Maxima, bearing New Jersey registration E74JRM (actual vehicle in picture).

Felton– The Delaware State Police are investigating a commercial burglary and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.

The incident occurred on March 23, 2019 at approximately 4:13 a.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the Goose Creek gas station located at 11425 S. Dupont Highway, Felton in reference to a commercial alarm.  Further investigation revealed that a suspect used an unknown tool to break the glass and enter the business.  Once inside, the suspect removed several boxes of cigarettes.  The suspect also attempted to break into the ATM machine, causing damage, however was unsuccessful.  The suspect fled the scene on foot and was last seen in the area of  Memorial Drive and Sanford Street, Felton.  The cigarettes were recovered near the scene.

The suspect is described as a white male wearing a hoodie tight to his face and dark pants.

Wilmington (19802)- The Delaware State Police are seeking the public’s assistance in attempting to locate 50-year-old Angelique D. Banks (photo 2008) of Bear, DE who is wanted in connection with a robbery.

The incident occurred on March 22, 2019 at approximately 8:10 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the Big Lots, located at 4439 Governor Printz Boulevard for a report of a robbery.  Upon arrival, Troopers met with two store employees who advised that a female had entered the store carrying shopping bags.  The female proceeded to select household goods and conceal them in her bags.  Upon the suspect attempting to leave the store without rendering payment, the employees verbally confronted the female.  The suspect continued to exit the front doors when she displayed a holstered handgun in her waistband and announced she had a gun.  The store employees were able to follow the suspect to the parking lot, where they observed her enter a Black Dodge Durango (pictured) and flee the scene.

Through investigative measures, Troopers were able to identify the suspect as Angelique D. Banks.  Troopers have been unable to locate Banks who currently has active warrants for two counts of Robbery First Degree and a previous warrant out of Troop 6 for shoplifting.
