*Update #2 Name Released* Troopers Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash- Millsboro

Millsboro- The Delaware State Police have identified the name of the pedestrian who died in a crash on February 13, 2020 on John J. Williams Highway (SR 24) just west of Rosedale Road, Millsboro, as 47-year-old Tammy Denton of Millsboro, DE.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Delaware State Police Continue to Search for Missing Camden Woman-Camden

Camden- The Delaware State Police are continuing their search for Lois L. Rodriguez, 52, of Camden, DE who has been missing for over 7 years (photo from 2010).

Lois Rodriguez was reported missing to the Delaware State Police on May 31, 2012.  She was reported to have been last seen on this date at the Dover International Speedway. Lois finished working a shift during race weekend and never returned home.

Lois Rodriguez is described has 5’06” tall, 130 lbs., with blonde hair and blue eyes.  Lois’s last known address was in the Camden, DE area, however she was known to frequent the Eastern Shore of Maryland, specifically the Aberdeen area, and also had contacts in Pennsylvania.

Since Lois was reported missing, she has not attempted to contact family or friends and their concerns for her welfare continue to remain.

*Update* Troopers Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash-Millsboro

Millsboro–  The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that occurred earlier this morning.

The incident occurred on February 13, 2020 at approximately 6:41 a.m., when a 2004 Hyundai Sonata was traveling eastbound on John J. Williams Highway (SR 24) just west of Rosedale Road. A 2011 Hyundai Tucson was also traveling eastbound on John J. Williams Highway behind the Sonata. A pedestrian, on foot was attempting to cross John J. Williams Highway directly in the path of the Sonata. The operator of the Sonata was unable to avoid the pedestrian, striking her within the eastbound lane of John J. Williams Highway. The operator of the Tucson was also unable to avoid striking the pedestrian.  Both operators of the motor vehicles remained at the scene.

The pedestrian, a 47-year-old female of Millsboro, DE was not equipped with a light or reflective clothing.  She was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Her name is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.

The operator of the Sonata, a 59-year-old female of Millsboro, DE was properly restrained and not injured.

The operator of the Tucson, a 40-year-old female of Seaford, DE was also properly restrained and not injured.

John J. Williams Highway in the area of Rosedale Road was closed for approximately 3 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

Troopers Investigating Serious Crash- Lewes

Lewes- The Delaware State Police are investigating a serious crash involving a single vehicle that occurred earlier today.

The incident occurred on February 13, 2020 at approximately 10:09 a.m., when a 2017 Kia Forte was traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway (SR 24) east of Jolyns Way, Lewes. For unknown reasons, the Kia crossed over the centerline of John J. Williams Highway and exited the edge of the roadway into a wooded area, where it struck a standing tree.

The operator and sole occupant, a 66-year-old male from Millsboro, DE,  was not properly retrained. He was transported to the Beebe Medical Center with serious injuries.   His name is being withheld at this time.

John J. Williams Highway in the area of Jolyns Way was closed for approximately 2 ½ hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

*Traffic Advisory* Troopers Investigating Serious Pedestrian Crash-Millsboro

Millsboro- The Delaware State Police are currently on scene of a serious crash involving a pedestrian that occurred at approximately 6:42 a.m., on February 13, 2020.

As a result of this crash, JOHN J. WILLIAMS HIGHWAY (Rt 24) between Gull Point Road and Rosedale Road, Millsboro,  is closed at this time.

Motorist should expect traffic delays and avoid the area if possible.

Troopers Investigating Parking Lot Robbery-Lewes

Lewes- The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in a shopping center parking lot last evening.

The incident occurred on February 11, 2020 at approximately 5:45 p.m., in the Weiss Market parking lot located at 17232 N. Village Main Boulevard, Lewes.  Troopers made contact with a 23-year-old female victim who advised that she arrived in the parking lot and parked her vehicle in the middle section of the parking lot.  The victim indicated that as she was attempting to exit her vehicle, she was approached from behind.  The unknown suspect proceeded grab the victim’s pocket where her money was located.  A brief struggle ensued when the suspect struck the victim with his arm and was able to take an undisclosed amount of cash out of her pocket.  The suspect then fled the area in an unknown direction.  The victim did not sustain injury as a result of this incident.

The victim described the suspect as a white male, possibly Hispanic, between the ages of 16-19 and 5’07-5’09” tall.  The suspect was wearing a blue or black jacket and a beanie cap.

*UPDATE-Suspect Photo Release* Troopers Investigating Armed Robbery of Newark Area Gas Station

Newark – The Delaware State Police are continuing to investigate the armed robbery of a Newark area gas station that occurred during the last week in January, and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.

During the original incident, which occurred at approximately 2:07 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Shell Gas Station located at 1184 Christiana Rd., the pictured male suspect approached an employee at the sales counter and threatened to shoot him while implying that he had a weapon. The suspect then removed cash from the register and fled. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident. No weapon was displayed only implied.

A further description of the pictured suspect described him as a black male, 40-50 years of age, wearing a dark jacket, light colored pants, baseball cap, eyeglasses and salt & pepper facial hair. The suspect is believed to have fled the scene in a dark colored Nissan Juke with an unknown registration.

Troopers Investigating Shots Fired Incident – Seaford

Seaford- The Delaware State Police are investigating a shots fired incident that occurred last evening.

The incident occurred on February 11, 2020 at approximately 11:49 p.m., when Troopers responded to the 24000 block of Middlecord Circle, Seaford, in reference to a shots fired complaint.  Upon arrival, Troopers observed an unoccupied silver Chevrolet Impala parked on the cul-de-sac with numerous bullet holes.  Contact was made with the owner of the vehicle who was staying at a residence nearby.  The owner of the vehicle advised she was woken up by the sound of gunshots, and when she looked outside she did not see anyone.

Further investigation revealed that a bullet had also struck a Buick that was parked next to the Impala.  Contact was made with the owner who also reported hearing gunshots but did not see anything.  There were no reports of any injuries as a result of this incident.

Delaware The Delaware State Police is now accepting applications for the 94th Delaware State Police Recruiting Campaign. 

Applications submitted for the 94th hiring process between now and April 8, 2020 will be considered for the recruit class in September 2020 or the recruit class in March 2021.

Applications submitted to the 94th hiring process between April 9, 2020 and August 1, 2020 will be considered for the March 2021 Academy Class ONLY.

The 95th hiring process will open on February 24, 2020.  All applications submitted for this process will be for the Fall 2021 or Spring 2022 Academy Class.
