State Police Arrest Magnolia Man for Armed Robbery in Dover

The Delaware State Police have arrested 67-year-old Donald Johnson, Jr., of Magnolia, Delaware, for robbery and related offenses, following an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday night at a Valero gas station in Dover.

On July 28, 2026, at approximately 9:00 p.m., troopers responded to Valero, located at 1612 South Dupont Highway in Dover, for a report of an armed robbery. The investigation revealed that an unknown white male suspect, wearing dark clothing, entered the store with a large knife and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk was unable to open the register and the suspect fled, but not before stealing a pack of chewing gum. No one was injured. During the investigation, detectives learned of two similar robberies that occurred a short time later in the City of Dover.

With the assistance of the Dover Police Department, state police detectives identified Johnson as the suspect in the robbery and obtained a warrant for his arrest. On July 29, 2026, Johnson was arrested by the Dover Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service First State Fugitive Task Force.

Johnson was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace, and committed to the Department of Correction on a $127,000 cash bond.

  • Robbery First Degree – Display What Appears to be a Deadly Weapon (Felony)
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Aggravated Menacing (Felony)
  • Theft under $1,500


Operation Troopers Have Your BACKpack

The Delaware State Police Community Engagement Unit’s annual program to benefit school-aged children in need with the necessities for school is back! Troopers are asking for help with donations to fill each child’s backpack with school supplies.

Operation Troopers Have Your BACKpack works with local communities and organizations to collect and donate school supplies for children in need. Donations can be taken to any Delaware State Police Troop or Delaware State Police Federal Credit Union locations by anyone wishing to help. Each location will have a box for supplies to be dropped off. The donations will be collected from August 3, 2026, until August 21, 2026, and will be distributed at the start of the school year. The supplies needed for the students are:

State Police Arrest Wilmington Man on Drug and Weapon Offenses Following Search Warrant

The Delaware State Police arrested 45-year-old Ikiem Hall, of Wilmington, Delaware, on felony drug and weapon offenses following the execution of a search warrant Monday at his Wilmington residence.

The Delaware State Police Special Investigations Unit obtained a search warrant for Hall’s home after conducting a long-term drug distribution investigation.

On July 27, 2026, with the assistance of the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team, detectives executed the search warrant at the residence in the 400 block of Carver Drive. During the search, Detectives located Hall and took him into custody without incident. The search resulted in the recovery of the following items:

-Approximately 174 grams of suspected cocaine

-Four firearms, including one that had been reported stolen

-Ammunition

-A digital scale and other drug paraphernalia

Evidence recovered during a Delaware State Police search warrant, including multiple firearms, handgun magazines, assorted ammunition, suspected narcotics packaged in plastic bags, a digital scale, two cell phones, a backpack, a shoulder holster, a box of sandwich bags, and other drug-related paraphernalia displayed on an evidence table.

 

Hall was taken to Troop 2 where he was charged with the below listed offenses, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court, and committed to the Department of Correction on a $293,000 cash bond.

  • Receiving a Stolen Firearm (Felony)


State Police Investigating Shooting Incident in Dover

The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred Monday in Dover.

On July 27, 2026, at approximately 5:45 p.m., troopers responded to the unit block of Ashby Lane, in the Carlisle Village Community in Dover, for a report of a shooting incident. When troopers arrived, they learned that multiple unknown black male suspects exited a gray car and fired multiple shots that struck two occupied homes. A third unoccupied home on Coverly Court was also struck. No one was injured.

State Police Investigating Single-Vehicle Fatal Crash in Dover

The Delaware State Police are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Sunday afternoon in Dover.

On July 26, 2026, at approximately 3:10 p.m., a Lexus GX entered the right merge lane of Bay Road northbound from exit 93 in Dover. The preliminary investigation revealed that the Lexus was traveling at an apparent high rate of speed and recklessly changing lanes. As a result, the Lexus exited the west edge of the road, struck the center median Jersey barrier, and rolled over on its side.

The unrestrained driver of the Lexus, a 27-year-old man from Dover, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

Bay Road was closed for approximately 4 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

Investigators believe the suspect vehicle may have damage to the passenger side, possibly near the turn signal housing. Responding troopers located multiple spent shell casings and determined the residence had been struck by gunfire. Although the home was occupied during the incident, no one was injured.

On July 25, 2026, at approximately 1:30 a.m., troopers responded to a residence in the 18000 block of Silver Maple Drive for a report of shots fired. Responding troopers located multiple spent shell casings and determined the residence had been struck by gunfire. Although the home was occupied during the incident, no one was injured.

State Police Investigating Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in Seaford

The Delaware State Police is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred Friday afternoon in Seaford.

On July 24, 2026, at approximately 2:10 p.m., a bicyclist was riding eastbound along the south edge of Woodpecker Road, west of Butler Branch Road. At the same time, an unknown vehicle was traveling eastbound on Woodpecker Road, approaching the bicyclist. For reasons currently being investigated, the vehicle struck the bicyclist and drove away from the scene.

The bicyclist, a 73-year-old man from Seaford, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The roadway was closed for approximately four hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
