Troopers Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash- Milford

Milford- The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that occurred early this morning.

The incident occurred on June 12, 2020, at approximately 2:10 a.m., when a 2007 Freightliner tractor pulling an enclosed box trailer, was traveling northbound on Dupont Boulevard in the right lane, south of Donovan Street within the city limits of Milford. For an unknown reason, a pedestrian appeared from the east side of the highway and stepped directly into the path of the truck. The operator of the truck was unable to avoid striking the pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 41-year-old male from Lincoln, DE, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  His name is being withheld at this time pending the notification of next of kin.

The operator of the Freightliner, a 65-year-old male from Nelsonia, Virginia, was properly restrained and uninjured.

Northbound Dupont Boulevard in the area of Donovan Street was closed for approximately 4 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

*Update*- Troopers Investigating Serious Crash on Redden Road-Bridgeville

Bridgeville- The Delaware State Police are continuing to investigate a fatal crash that occurred yesterday morning.

The incident occurred on June 11, 2020, at approximately 11:10 a.m., when a 2015 Nissan Sentra was traveling eastbound on Redden Road,  east of Cedar Corners Road approaching a moderate right curve. A 2011 Ford Fusion was traveling westbound on Redden Road negotiating this same curve. The operator of the Nissan failed to negotiate the curve and struck the Ford head-on, completely within the westbound travel lane. After the impact the Nissan overturned onto its roof and slid into the eastbound travel lane, where it came to rest.

The operator of the Nissan, an 18-year-old male from Glen Burnie, MD was unrestrained and partially ejected. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.  His name is being withheld at this time pending the notification of next of kin.

The Nissan was occupied by five passengers, ranging from ages 19-20.  Four of the passengers were not properly restrained, three of them sustained serious injures and one sustained non-life threatening injures.  These four male passengers were transported to the hospital where they were admitted for their injuries.  The fifth female passenger was properly restrained and sustained non-life threatening injures.  She was transported to the hospital where she was treated and released.

The operator of the Ford, a 57-year-old female from Bridgeville, DE was properly restrained.  She was transported to PRMC in Salisbury, MD where she was admitted with serious injuries.

Redden Road east of Cedar Corners Road was closed for approximately 5 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Delaware State Police Seeking Assistance with Identifying Assault Suspect- Dover

Dover– The Delaware State Police is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying an individual responsible for assaulting a 72-year-old male victim during a civil demonstration on May 31, 2020.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:28 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2020, during a civil demonstration on North DuPont Highway, Dover, in the area of the Delaware State Police Headquarters. The victim, who was a freelance photojournalist, was operating his vehicle on US13 in the area when individuals involved in the protest activities, broke the window of the victim’s car. He then exited the vehicle and was assaulted by individuals involved in the protest activity.

The suspect involved in assaulting the victim was described as a light-skinned black male, stocky build, 20-30 years old, thin chin-strap beard, and wearing a white shirt.

Troopers Attempting to Identify Burglary Suspect- Dover

Dover– The Delaware State Police are attempting to identify the suspect involved in a burglary, which occurred at Subway sandwich shop located at 1151 East Lebanon Road (SR 10) Unit A, Dover.

On June 6, 2020, at approximately 4:48 a.m., an unknown suspect broke into the business. Once inside, the suspect removed an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing through the rear parking lot of the business on a bicycle.

The suspect is described to be a white or light skinned black male wearing a dark-colored jacket and pants, light colored beanie and dark sneakers with white soles. He also was carrying a black backpack with a red marking on top.

Troopers Investigating Armed Robbery of a Wilmington area Dollar General- Wilmington

WilmingtonThe Delaware State Police are investigating the armed robbery of a Wilmington area Dollar General that occurred Tuesday night.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:49 p.m., on June 9, 2020, at the Dollar General located at 2605 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington. A male suspect entered the store at approximately 8:49 p.m. and remained in the business after closing. When asked to leave by an employee, the suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money. The employee complied with the demand and turned over an undisclosed of cash to the suspect, who then fled through the rear door of the business. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’9″-10″, heavyset build, and in possession of a handgun.

No surveillance images are available at this time.

*Update* Troopers Investigating Serious Crash on SR 1-Dover

Dover- The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred last evening on Bay Road (SR 1), Dover.

The incident occurred on June 9, 2020, at approximately 10:02 p.m., when a 2016 Mazda 3 was traveling northbound in the southbound left lane of Bay Road (SR 1), south of exit 92 approaching a 2011 Nissan Murano that was traveling southbound in the left lane of SR 1.  The Mazda struck the Nissan head-on within the left travel lane.

The operator of the Mazda, a 35-year-old female from Perryville, MD, was properly restrained and pronounced deceased at the scene.  Her name is being withheld at this time pending the notification of next of kin.

The operator of the Nissan, a 39-year-old female from Manheim, PA, was properly restrained.  She was transported to the Christiana Hospital in serious condition.

As a result of this crash, southbound SR 1 in the area of exit 92, Dover, was closed for approximately 3.5 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collison Reconstruction Unit.

Troopers Investigating Shots Fired Incident – Dover

Dover- The Delaware State Police are investigating a shots fired incident that occurred last evening.

The incident occurred on June 8, 2020, at approximately 9:46 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to Becky Lane, Dover, for a report of shots being fired.  Upon arrival, Troopers located multiple shell casings in the driveway of a residence.  The residence and a vehicle that was parked in the driveway were shot at multiple times.

It was reported that two subjects were seen exchanging gun fire.  The subjects left the area prior to police arrival.  There were no reports of any injuries as a result of this incident.
