*UPDATE #1* Multi-Agency Operation Searching for Missing Swimmers- South Bowers Beach

South Bowers Beach– On June 30, 2020, at 2:59 p.m., the Delaware State Police responded to the Muderkill River/South Bowers area for two swimmers that had been carried away by the strong water currents.

Troopers learned a 21-year-old male from Philadelphia, a 20-year-old male from Tennessee, a 20-year-old female from Philadelphia, and a 20-year-old male from Philadelphia traveled to the South Bowers Beach area. All four subjects entered the water to go swimming when they were pulled away from shore by the strong currents. 

When this occurred, an individual onshore observed the incident, entered the water on two different occasions, and safely rescued two swimmers back to shore.

Multiple police, fire, maritime, and EMS agencies responded and conducted search and rescue operations. As of 9:00 p.m., two of the swimmers were not located, and the search efforts were suspended until July 1, 2020, when they will begin again. 

At this time, this case remains active and ongoing. The identities of the victims are being withheld at this time due to notification to next to kin.

Multi-Agency Operation Searching for Missing Swimmers- South Bowers Beach

South Bowers– Multiple police, fire, maritime, and EMS agencies are currently on scene of missing swimmers that occurred at approximately 2:59 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2020, in which multiple individuals entered the Murderkill River in the area of the 4000 block of South Bowers Beach Rd.

This is an active operation and the investigation is in the early stages. Further details will be released as they become available.

Troopers Arrest Milton Man and Juvenile on Drug Releated Charges – Milton

Milton- The Delaware State Police have arrested 55-year-old Calvin Wyatt of Milton and a 15 year old juvenile of Milton on multiple drug related charges.

The incident occurred on Monday, June 29, 2020 at approximately 3:32 p.m. on the 28000 block of West Springside Dr., Milton. Troopers were conducting pro-active enforcement in a known high drug traffic area. During this time, Troopers stopped in front of a nuisance residence and observed a male running from the rear of the property. Troopers made contact with the 15 year old juvenile in the backyard of a nearby residence and discovered that he had outstanding warrants. Troopers conducted a search incident to arrest and located crack cocaine on his person. Troopers then responded back to the known drug property and took Wyatt into custody for continually allowing drug transactions to occur on his property.

Investigation led to the discovery of the following. The following was located on the juvenile:

  • Approximately .65 grams of Crack Cocaine
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Undisclosed amount of cash (Under $100 in suspected drug proceeds)

Wyatt and the juvenile were transported back to Troop 7 where they were charged with the following:

  • Wyatt was charged with Maintaining a Drug Property (Felony)
  • Juvenile was charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree, and Resisting Arrest.

Wyatt was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on his own recognizance.

The juvenile was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Stevenson Center on $4,600 secured bond.

Troopers Arrest Milton Woman on Multiple Drug Charges – Milton

Milton- The Delaware State Police have arrested 28-year-old Diesha Davis of Milton on multiple drug related charges.

The incident occurred on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at approximately 1:20 p.m. on West Springfield Dr., Milton. Troopers observed Davis walking down the roadway and attempted to make contact with her for outstanding capiases issued out of the Sussex County Superior Court. Davis attempted to elude Troopers, but was quickly taken into custody without incident. Upon a search incident to arrest, Troopers located crack cocaine inside of a handbag Davis was carrying.

Investigation led to the discovery of the following:

  • Approximately .85 grams of Crack Cocaine
  • Drug paraphernalia

Davis was transported back to Troop 7 where she was charged with the following:

  • Possession With Intent To Deliver a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts)

Davis was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on $5,200 unsecured bond.

Delaware State Police Homicide Unit Seeking Assistance with Locating Missing Person- Bethany Beach

Bethany Beach, DE – The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the missing person report involving Sheila Doyle, 66, of Fairfax, Virginia. Sheila was last seen at her second residence in the Salt Pond section of Bethany Beach on June 15, 2020 at approximately 1:00 p.m. Sheila was in the company of her son Brian Doyle, 35, of Burke, Virginia.

At this point in the investigation, Sheila is believed to be deceased and Brian is the suspect in her death. Brian was found deceased on June 17, 2020 by the Fairfax County (VA) Police Department.

Sheila Doyle is 5’06”, 130 lbs with brown hair. Sheila’s vehicle, which has been recovered, is a black 2020 Buick Enclave with Virginia registration UKZ7235 (stock photo attached). Brian Doyle was 6’05”, 250 lbs with brown hair worn in a buzzcut. The 8’x10’ rug pictured below was missing from Sheila’s residence in Bethany Beach.

Through investigative measures, it is known that Brian stopped in the following areas on the afternoon of June 16, 2020:

Primehook Road, east of Milton

US Route 113 in Milford

Middle Run Valley Nature Area, north of Newark

White Clay Creek State Park, north of Newark

Troopers make arrests in Criminal Mischief incident – Wilmington

Wilmington – The Delaware State Police have arrested two individuals in connection with a criminal mischief  incident that occurred on Naamans Road north of Wilmington, De. on Friday, June 26, 2020.

The incident began at approximately 10:12 p.m. involving a Trooper who was parked on the shoulder of Naamans Road.  The Trooper was monitoring vehicles leaving the area after multiple reports of vehicles drag racing in the area.  As the Trooper was seated inside his patrol vehicle, the Trooper heard a hard loud object strike the left side of his vehicle.  Simultaneously, a black sedan with Pennsylvania Registration passed the Trooper at a high rate of speed.  The Trooper activated the vehicles respective emergency equipment in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop on this black sedan.  The black sedan failed to stop and sped off at a high rate of speed in an attempt to elude the Trooper.  As the black sedan sped away in an attempt to flee, the black sedan committed multiple traffic violations, almost causing several traffic accidents.  The black sedan then attempted to cross over a grassy median, but instead struck a DelDOT sign, causing the vehicle to become disabled.

Operating the black sedan was 21 year old Maliq A. Rollins of Wilmington, De.  Rollins was charged with one traffic related felony (Disregard a Police Officer Signal) and fifteen (15) other traffic violations.

A second passenger in the vehicle was a 20 year old male who was charged with Criminal Mischief (misdemeanor), littering and Possession of Alcohol by a Minor.

The patrol vehicle sustained approximately $2,000.00 damage to the left side of the vehicle, causing dents requiring body work and new paint.  It was determined the hard object that struck the patrol vehicle appeared to be a large glass bottle containing an unknown type of liquid.  Neither the Trooper nor the two individuals arrested for this incident were injured.

Defendant Maliq A. Rollins (pictured) was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court and was released on unsecured bond.  The passenger and second individual arrested for Criminal Mischief (misdemeanor), Possession of Alcohol by a Minor, and Littering was als0 arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court and was also released on unsecured bond.

*Update 3* Troopers investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Limestone Road – Stanton

StantonThe Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash at the intersection of Limestone Road (SR 7) and Laura Drive that occurred on June 27, 2020, at approximately 12:19 p.m.

The Delaware State Police have identified the name of the motorcyclist who died in this crash as 22 year old Aaron N. Coleman of Wilmington, De.

Troopers Attempting to Locate Newark Man Wanted for Felony Assault and Additional Charges- Newark

Newark– The Delaware State Police are seeking the public’s assistance with locating 39-year-old Alfred F. Zickgraf 3RD of Newark, DE, who is wanted for felony assault and related charges stemming from a physical altercation on Tuesday, June 23, 2020.

At approximately 11:34 p.m., the Delaware State Police responded to CP’s Pub located at 5 Polly Drummond Hill Shopping Center, Newark, for a reported assault. Upon arrival, Troopers discovered Zickgraf was a patron inside CP’s Pub when he became involved in a physical altercation with a 23-year-old male victim from Wilmington. A 36-year-old male patron from Wilmington separated the fight, and Zickgraf exited the establishment and left the area in a car. Zickgraf then returned to CP’s Pub, exited the vehicle with a large stick, and began yelling at people inside the Pub before swinging the stick and smashing the business’s front window. The 36-year-old male from the initial incident exits the bar, and Zickgraf attempts to hit the subject with the large stick. The subject tackles Zickgraf to the ground, and Zickgraf removes a knife he had on his person and cut the individual in the face causing non-life threatening injuries. Zickgraf fled the scene before police arrived.

Both victims refused medical treatment on scene for their injuries.

Troopers have been unable to locate Zickgraf who currently has active warrants out of Troop 6 for the following crimes:

  • Assault 2nd Degree (felony)
  • Assault 3rd Degree
  • Criminal Mischief less than $5,000
  • Disorderly Conduct

*UPDATE* Troopers Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Limestone Road and Laura Drive- Stanton

StantonThe Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash at the intersection of Limestone Road (SR 7) and Laura Drive that occurred on June 27, 2020, at approximately 12:19 p.m.

A 2008 Honda Accord operated by a 60-year-old female from Wilmington was stopped for the red traffic control signal in the left turn lane of northbound Limestone Road at Laura Drive. A 2005 Honda CBR Motorcycle operated by a 22-year-old male from Wilmington was traveling southbound on Limestone Road, approaching the intersection of Laura Drive. All vehicles in front of the motorcycle in the southbound lanes of Limestone Road stopped as the traffic light turned red. The traffic light turned to a green arrow on Laura Drive, and the Honda Accord entered the intersection to turn left.

The Honda motorcycle disregarded the red traffic light by traveling around the stopped traffic at a high rate of speed and entered the right turn lane to proceed through the intersection. As the Honda Accord was within the intersection, the motorcycle crashed into the passenger side of the Honda Accord. The motorcycle operator was ejected from the motorcycle onto the roadway.

Both operators were transported to a nearby hospital for their injuries. The operator of the motorcycle sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The operator of the Honda Accord was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

Southbound Limestone Road in the area of Laura Drive was closed for approximately 3-hours for the crash investigation.

Troopers investigating Hate Crime – Seaford

Seaford – The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a Criminal Trespass/Hate Crime  complaint that occurred within the Holly View Mobile Home Park, Seaford , De.

The incident occurred on Friday, June 26, 2020 between the hours of 04:20 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.  Upon arrival at the victims residence, Troopers met with a 59 year old black male victim who reported an unknown suspect trespassed onto his property while the victim was at work and tied a small white cord crafted in the way of a noose on his front step railing.

Initial interviews with neighbors in the area have not led to any potential suspects currently.  A DSP Detective has been assigned to further investigate this pending case.  There is no known suspect information at this time.
