*Traffic Advisory* Troopers Investigating Serious Crash Involving Tractor Trailer – Bridgeville

Bridgeville- The Delaware State Police are currently on scene of a serious crash that occurred at approximately 2:33 p.m. on August 12, 2020.

As a result of this crash and ongoing investigation, Seashore Highway (Rt. 404) at Diesel Drive is closed at this time.

Motorists will experience delays in the area and are advised to seek alternate routes of travel.

Delaware State Police Investigating a Shooting at Wawa – New Castle

New Castle– The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred last evening.

The incident occurred on August 11, 2020, at approximately 11:22 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the Wawa located at 1515 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, it was discovered a 36 year-old female, of Wilmington, DE, who was operating a Chrysler Pacifica with a 16 year-old male from Wilmington, DE, and a 17 year-old male from New Castle, were shot at while reversing out of a parking spot. Further investigation revealed a white Ford Edge that was parked near the Pacifica, reversed simultaneously and the front passenger of the Edge began shooting at the victims. The vehicle was struck with multiple rounds on the driver side of the vehicle. In total there were six rounds of a .40 caliber that were fired at the victims.

No one was shot and there are no reported injuries.

There is no suspect information at this time.

*Update #2 Names Released*-Troopers Investigating Serious Crash on HARBESON Road-Harbeson

Harbeson- The Delaware State Police have identified the names of the of the drivers who died in a crash on August 11, 2020, on Harbeson Road.  The  operator of the Mazda, was identified as 46-year-old Michelle A. Esworthy from Joppa, MD and the operator of the Hyundai Santa Fe was identified as 76-year-old Robert P. Dahms from Spring Grove, Pennsylvania.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Newark- The Delaware State Police have identified the name of the pedestrian who died after being struck by a hit and run vehicle on August 11, 2020, on Ogletown Stanton Road (Rt. 4), Newark, as 27-year-old Aleesha Lingafelt of New Castle, DE.

Troopers investigation has determined the striking vehicle is red with noticeable damage. The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Troopers Investigating Serious Crash-Milton

Milton- The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a serious crash that occurred earlier today.

The crash occurred on August 11, 2020, at approximately 3:10 p.m., when a 2010 Chevy Cobalt was traveling westbound on Lewes-Georgetown Highway(US 9) and had stopped in the intersection of Harbeson Road (SR 5) for opposing traffic waiting to turn left. A 2014 Toyota Tundra was traveling eastbound on US 9 approaching SR 5. For unknown reasons the operator of the Chevy failed to observe the oncoming vehicle and turned left in front of the Toyota. As a result, the front of the Toyota struck the passenger side door of the Chevy within the intersection.

The operator of the Chevy, a 20-year-old female from Willow Street, PA was transported to the Beebe Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.  A passenger in the vehicle, a 20-year-old female from New Providence, PA was initially transported to the Beebe Medical Center and later transported to the Christiana Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The operator of the Toyota, a 29-year-old male from Laurel, DE was not injured and refused medical treatment at the scene.

The traffic at US 9 and SR 5 was intermittently closed while the crash was investigated and cleared.

*Update*-Troopers Investigating Serious Crash on HARBESON Road-Harbeson

Harbeson- The Delaware State Police Collison Reconstruction Unit are continuing to investigate a double fatal collision that occurred earlier this morning.

The crash occurred on August 11, 2020, at approximately 6:39 a.m., when a 2007 Mazda 6 was traveling northbound on Harbeson Road south of Rust Road. A 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling southbound on Harbeson Road approaching the same location from the opposite direction. For unknown reasons the operator of the Mazda crossed the centerline and entered directly into the path of the Hyundai, resulting in a near head on collision.

The operator of the Mazda, a 46-year-old female from Joppa, MD was not properly restrained.  She was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Her name is being withheld at this time pending the notification of next of kin.

The operator of the Hyundai, a 76-year-old male from Spring Grove, PA was properly restrained.  He was pronounced deceased at the scene.  His name is also being withheld at this time pending the notification of next of kin.

Harbeson Road was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

Troopers Investigating Fatal Hit and Run Crash Involving a Pedestrian- Newark

Newark- The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal hit and run crash involving a pedestrian that occurred early this morning.

The crash occurred on August 11, 2020, at approximately 1:06 a.m., when an unknown vehicle was traveling eastbound Ogletown Stanton Road (Rt. 4), East of Churchmans Road. A pedestrian for unknown reasons, was in the right travel lane of eastbound Ogletown Stanton Road, and was wearing dark non reflective clothing and did not appear to be carrying an illumination device. The victim came to a final rest in the right travel lane of Ogletown Stanton Road. The unknown vehicle did not stop for the collision.

The victim, identified as a 27-year-old female from New Castle, DE was pronounced deceased at a local hospital. Her name is being withheld at this time pending the notification of next of kin.

The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

At this time there is no suspect vehicle information. Troopers Investigating Serious Crash-Laurel

Laurel- The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a serious crash that occurred last evening.

The crash occurred on August 10, 2020, at approximately 5:19 p.m., when a 2017 Ram ProMaster 2500 series van was traveling eastbound on Laurel Road (SR 24). An unknown make and model U.S. Mail Delivery truck was traveling westbound on Laurel Road, just east of Prettyman Avenue. For unknown reasons the operator of the mail truck crossed the center line and entered the eastbound lane of travel. The vehicles collided in a near head on collision within the westbound lane of travel.  The operator of the mail truck was removed by bystanders before the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames.

The operator of the Ram, a 44-year-old male from Millsboro, DE and a male passenger from Frankford, DE were properly restrained.  They were both transported to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and treated and released with minor injuries.

The operator of the mail truck, a 40-year-old male from Salisbury, MD was properly restrained.  He was transported to the Christiana Hospital with serious injuries.

Laurel Road in the area of Prettyman Ave. was closed for approximately 4 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
