Newark The Delaware State Police are seeking the public’s assistance with information on the operators of two vehicles of interest (pictured above) that were involved in a racing incident which led to a fatal crash in front of the REI Sporting Goods store on September 23, 2020.

The Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the crash.

*Traffic Advisory* Troopers Investigating Crash With Fuel Spill – Wilmington

Wilmington The Delaware State Police are currently on scene investigating a roll-over crash involving an oil tanker with a fuel spill that occurred at approximately 6:09 a.m. this morning, Thursday, October 01,  2020, on Kirkwood Highway at Farrand Drive, Wilmington, DE.

As a result of the crash, Kirkwood Highway is closed in both directions.  Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes of travel.

*UPDATE* Troopers Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash- Felton

Felton- Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred last night in the Felton area.

On September 30, 2020, at approximately 8:00 p.m., a 2000 Dodge Dakota operated by a 28-year-old man from Felton, was traveling southbound on US 13 in the left lane of travel, approaching Bork Drive. The 65-year-old male pedestrian from Felton, who was wearing dark clothing was reported to be lying in the roadway, in the southbound lane, in the same area. The operator failed to see the pedestrian lying in the roadway and subsequently hit him. After the collision, the Dakota came to a controlled stop and waited on scene.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. Identification is pending notification of next to kin.

The operator was not injured in the accident.

US 13 southbound was closed for approximately 3.5 hours during the investigation and clean- up.

*Traffic Advisory* South DuPont Hwy southbound closed due to serious pedestrian crash- Felton

Felton- Delaware State Police are currently investigating a serious pedestrian crash on South DuPont Highway in the area of Canterbury Crossings, Felton.

South DuPont Highway southbound between Barney Jenkins Road and south Upper King Road are currently closed as the accident is being investigated. The length of time the roadway will be closed is unknown at this time.

*Update* Delaware State Police Investigating Fatal Crash Involving Bicyclist- Wilmington

Wilmington– Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a bicyclist that occurred at approximately 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at the intersection of Philadelphia Pike and Bellevue Parkway.

The initial investigation has determined a 2012 Hino box truck operated by a 49 year-old male from Prospect Park, PA, was stopped in the left turn lane of northbound Philadelphia Pike. The traffic signal displayed a green arrow and the box truck proceed to turn left onto Bellevue Parkway. At the same time, a bicyclist was riding northbound along the southbound lanes of Philadelphia Pike. As the box truck completed its left turn, the bicyclist struck the driver side of the vehicle.

The operator of the bicycle, a 16 year-old male from Wilmington, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name is being withheld at this time pending the notification of next of kin.

Southbound Philadelphia Pike was closed for approximately 2.5 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

*Update- Suspect Information Released* Delaware State Police Investigating Multiple Thefts from Vehicles- Smyrna

 

Smyrna-  Delaware State Police is continuing to investigate thefts from vehicles in the Smyrna area. On September 28, 2020, at approximately 3:50 a.m., an unknown suspect entered unlocked vehicles in the Twin Willows Development and stole personal property.

The suspect is described as a white male, long black or brown hair possibly braided, black hooded sweatshirt, a surgical mask on his forehead, and a dark-colored mask covering his nose and mouth.

*Traffic Advisory* Delaware State Police Investigating Fatal Crash Involving Bicyclist- Wilmington

 – Delaware State Police are on the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a bicyclist that occurred at approximately 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 29, 2020, on Bellevue Parkway in the area of Philadelphia Pike.

Delaware State Police Investigating Armed Robbery- Laurel

Laurel- Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Monday night on 4th Street, Bridgeville.

Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at approximately 12:08 a.m. on September 29, 2020. The investigation revealed a 20-year-old male was in his residence and caught two male suspects attempting to break into his step-father’s white Toyota Camry and neighbor’s Toyota Corolla, which were parked outside. The victim confronted the suspects when he was pistol-whipped by one of the suspects and his wallet containing an undisclosed amount of money was removed from his front pant pocket. The victim yelled for his 28-year-old family member to come outside. When the family member exited the residence, he threw his cellphone at the suspect, striking him. The suspect then pointed a handgun at the family member before fleeing the area on foot. During that same time, the second suspect was looking through the neighbor’s Corolla before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction. The victim was treated at the scene by emergency medical services for his injury.

The first suspect is described as a black male wearing dark-colored shorts and a dark-colored shirt.

The second suspect is described as a black male wearing dark-colored shorts and a dark-colored hoodie.

There is no video surveillance available at this time.
