Magnolia- Delaware State Police is issuing a traffic advisory for northbound Bay Road in the area of Trap Shooters Bridge. Bay Road northbound is currently closed due to a multiple vehicle accident. It is unknown the length of time the roadway will be closed. Motorist are urged to seek alternate routes of travel.

Wilmington Man Arrested on Drug and Traffic Charges Following Traffic Stop- New Castle

New Castle- Delaware State Police arrested 34-year-old Reginald A. Watson of Wilmington on drug and traffic charges following a traffic stop on Saturday afternoon.

On February 13, 2021, at approximately 3:56 p.m., a trooper on patrol on US13 in the area of I295 in New Castle, observed a gray Toyota Corolla traveling southbound on US13 on I295 change lanes without properly signaling. A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle, Reginal A. Watson. Upon contact with the vehicle, the trooper detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from within the vehicle and drug paraphernalia was observed in plain view. A criminal investigation ensued and a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. Located inside the vehicle were the following items:

  • Approximately $1,160.00 in suspected drug proceeds
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Approximately 243.56 grams of marijuana

Watson was taken into custody without incident and charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Driving While Suspended
  • Failure to Have Insurance Identification
  • Failure to Signal
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Civil Violation)

He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and was issued a $10,503.00 secured bond.

Delaware State Police Investigating Armed Altercation at Convenience Store- Claymont

Claymont- Delaware State Police investigate an armed altercation at the Circle K that occurred early Friday morning.

On February 12, 2021, at approximately 12:35 a.m., Delaware State Police responded to the Circle K convenience store located at 698 Naamans Road, for a reported robbery in progress.

Upon arrival to the scene, troopers made contact with the 30-year-old male manager. The investigation determined at approximately 12:21 a.m., a group of four males entered the business.  While inside, an argument broke out between the manager of the Circle K and one of the male subjects. During the argument, the male subject pulled out a black handgun he had on his person, pointed it at the manager, and then fled the store on foot in an unknown direction.

During the incident, there was no property stolen from the store and no one was injured.

The suspect was described as a male, 5′ 10″-6′ 1″, 20- 25 years old, and average build. He was wearing jeans, dark colored shirt and dark colored hat. There is no video surveillance footage available at this time.

Laurel Man Arrested on Criminal Charges Following Physical Altercation- Laurel

Laurel- Delaware State Police arrested 49-year-old Sung K. Park of Laurel following a physical altercation on Wednesday night.

On February 10, 2021, at approximately 8:54 p.m., troopers responded to a residence on Branch Road to contact the 48-year-old female acquaintance of Sung K. Park, who was involved in a physical altercation at a home on Mirey Branch Road and Trussum Pond Road with Park. Upon contact with the female victim, troopers observed obvious serious physical injuries, and she was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Park was contacted by troopers at a residence on Mirey Branch Road, where it was evident an altercation had occurred. Through the investigation, it was determined a verbal argument had occurred and escalated into a physical altercation. Park was uninjured during the altercation and was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 5.

Park was charged with the following crimes:

  • Assault 1st Degree (Felony)
  • Assault 3rd Degree
  • Menacing
  • Disorderly Conduct

He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $31,200 secured bond.

*Update* Delaware State Police Attempt to Locate Homicide Suspect – Magnolia

Magnolia- The Delaware State Police are seeking the public’s assistance in attempting to locate 46-year-old James Palmer from Dover, who is wanted for murder and related charges.

The incident occurred on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at approximately 03:25 a.m., when troopers responded to Millchop Lane, Magnolia, for a report of a stabbing. Investigation revealed a verbal altercation occurred between several people who were at a party at a trailer located behind the residence. Individuals left the party and went to the residence to remove themselves from the situation. The conflict reignited when the participants engaged again at the residence. The argument escalated and the 37-year-old male from Smyrna and 34-year-old female from Dover, were both stabbed with a large knife by the suspect. The victims were transported to an area hospital by an acquaintance. The 37-year-old male victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The 34-year-old female victim was treated at an area hospital with stab wounds to the abdomen.

Through investigative means, James Palmer was identified as the suspect. Troopers have been unable to locate Palmer who currently has an active warrant for the following:

  • Murder First Degree (Felony)
  • Attempted Murder 1st Degree (Felony)
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)

Delaware State Police Conducting Criminal Investigation- Magnolia

Magnolia- Delaware State Police are currently conducting a criminal investigation on Millchop Lane. As a result, there is an increased police presence in the area. This investigation is in the early stages but there is no threat to the safety of the community. Southbound Millchop Lane is closed between Peachtree Run and Lambert Drive as a result of this investigation. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
