Wilmington– The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting at a Wilmington area gas station that occurred this morning and left one man dead.

The incident was reported at approximately 6:14 a.m., Thursday, August 26, 2021, when troopers responded to the Sunoco gas station located at 1950 Maryland Avenue, Wilmington, for a report of a subject shot. Upon their arrival, a 34-year-old male victim was located outside the front of the convenience store with apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Identification of the victim is pending notification to the next of kin.

Investigation determined two unknown males approached the victim in front of the convenience store and opened fire. There is currently no description of the suspects at this time.

This incident is being investigated by Delaware State Police Homicide Unit. Lewes, DE- Delaware State Police is seeking the public’s assistance identifying a subject wanted in connection to a commercial burglary.

On August 19, 2021, at approximately 12:07 a.m., Delaware State Police responded to the Uncle Willies BP Gas Station located at 17581 Coastal Highway, Lewes, for a burglary to the business. During the burglary the suspect made entry into the business and stole merchandise before fleeing the area.

The suspect is described as a black male, wearing camo shorts, yellow hooded sweatshirt, and black sneakers. He was traveling in a silver or gray colored Cadillac Deville.

Dover – The Delaware State Police are continuing a death investigation that occurred Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred around 8:55 a.m. Tuesday August 24, 2021, when Troopers discovered three subjects deceased at a house located in the unit block of John Collins Circle in the Rodney Village Neighborhood.

The bodies were removed from the residence by the Delaware Division of Forensic Science and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death, along with positive identification.

There is no safety concern for the community. This is an active and on-going investigation, and more information will be released as the case develops.

The Delaware State Police would like to offer safety guidelines for a great beginning to this new and exciting school year. With some schools already in session and some that will start next week; it is important to know thousands of Delaware’s precious children will ride a school bus every day. Some of our youngsters will be introduced to school bus transportation for the first time. Knowing this, everyone should consistently make safety a high priority for our children walking to and from the school bus stop. Motorists must share the road with buses during the school year and must take into account any possible delays and exercise good judgment and patience throughout the school year. Do not pass stopped school buses!

Delaware’s over 1,800 school buses travel great distances throughout the school year. It is most important to understand the dangers for children and their families. There are some easy steps children, parents and motorists can do to make this a safe school year for Delaware students.

PARENTS

• If your child’s bus stop is not near your home, walk the route to the bus stop with your child until they are familiar with it and follow safe practices.
• Familiarize yourself with the bus driver.
• Make sure you have the Transportation Director’s contact information just in case you have any questions or encounter a problem.

CHILDREN

• Start your day with plenty of time to get to the bus stop.
• Stay alert as you walk to the bus stop. Always be aware of your surroundings.
• Know your bus driver and bus number.
• Wait for the bus in a safe place. Avoid horseplay that may cause you to fall into the street.
• Never run to or from the bus.
• When the bus arrives, make sure it comes to a complete stop before approaching it.
• Remain seated at all times while the bus is in motion.
• Don’t push or shove when getting on or off the bus.
• Always keep your arms and head inside the bus.
• Learn about the “danger zone”. There is a 10-foot wide area on all sides of the bus, where the driver cannot see you. When you get off the bus, step outside of the danger zone until you can see the driver’s face.
• Only cross in front of the bus where the driver can see you.
• Never run behind the bus, or bend down to pick up an object. The bus driver may think you’ve crossed safely and start to move.
• Do not distract the bus driver so that he/she may get you safely to and from school.
• Listen to the bus driver and bus aid to ensure your safety.
• Make sure to be courteous and respectful to the school bus driver

MOTORISTS

• Please slow down and give yourself some time to make adjustments to the new change in your schedule and traffic patterns.
• Drivers traveling in either direction on a two-lane road must stop when a school bus activates its flashing red lights and stop sign or arm.
• Drivers traveling in the same direction as a school bus on a four-lane, divided road must stop for a stopped school bus. Drivers travelling in the opposite direction are not required to stop.
• Delaware law requires vehicles to stop even when the bus is stopped to load/unload students on private property.
• Anyone convicted of passing a stopped school bus can be fined as much as $230 dollars for the first offense and as much as $575 for the second offense. The individual will also have their license suspended for between 1 and 12 months.
• Please watch for the little ones crossing the roads and parking lots to and from the bus or private vehicles.
• Please watch your speed at all times especially in school zones. The School Resource Officers and other law enforcement officers will monitor the safety of all who are going to and from the schools.

Milton, DE– Delaware State Police are currently investigating a burglary to a residence that occurred in the Overbrook Shores community during the early morning hours of August 23, 2021. During the burglary, a female resident was physically assaulted by a male suspect before he fled the residence on foot in an unknown direction of travel.

As a reminder, residents are always encouraged to report any suspicious activity and lock their residences.

Millsboro, DE- Delaware State Police Troop 4 seeks the public’s assistance locating Tyler Burrows, 25, of Millsboro. 

Burrows is wanted by troopers on felony criminal charges for two incidents that occurred in August 2020 in the Millsboro area. During the first incident, Burrows was in possession of a firearm during a neighborhood dispute. When troopers attempted to contact Burrows during a traffic stop, he fled from the vehicle and was unable to be located. Later that same night, Burrows stole a motorcycle. As a result of the two incidents, Burrows is wanted for the following crimes:

• Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
• Resisting Arrest
• Theft of a Motor Vehicle (Felony)
• Theft Under $1,500 

He is also wanted on a capias out of Sussex County Family Court.

Burrows is believed to be in the area of Millsboro. Dover, DE- Delaware State Police seek the public’s assistance identifying a subject wanted in connection to a commercial burglary.

On August 14, 2021, at approximately 4:30 a.m., the suspect parked in the rear parking lot of DOTs Discount Cigarettes in the Woodside Shopping Center located at 5506 S. DuPont Highway, Dover. The suspect approached the business and removed the back door before pulling the vehicle behind the store and removing approximately $3,500.00 worth of various cigarette cartons from inside. The suspect then fled in the vehicle toward South DuPont Highway.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6′ tall, and muscular build. He was wearing dark pants, a grey t-shirt, black sneakers with white trim around the bottom, and a grey colored hat.

The vehicle is described as a white Ford Transit Connect Van with what appears to be a ladder rack on the roof.
