Camden- Delaware State Police have identified the individual who died in a fatal motorcycle crash on October 8, 2021, as 57-year-old Alfred DeSomma of Clayton, DE.

Delaware State Police Investigating Carjacking – Newark

Newark – The Delaware State Police are investigating a carjacking that took place at the Shell gas station early Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:43 p.m., Saturday, October 9, 2021, at the gas pump of the Shell located at 2410 Pulaski Highway, Newark. A 56-year-old female victim parked her gray 2018 Dodge Durango at the gas pump when a white sedan occupied by four suspects in masks pulled behind her vehicle. Two suspects exited the vehicle and approached the victim demanding her car keys. The victim’s keys were inside of her purse which was inside the vehicle. When the victim went to retrieve her purse, one suspect entered the vehicle through the passenger side and a struggled ensued. The victim was able to pry her purse away and gave the suspect her car keys. The two suspects then entered the Durango and fled southbound Glasgow Avenue.

The suspects were described as four black males all wearing dark clothing and masks.. There are no surveillance images available at this time.

Delaware State Police Conducting Criminal Investigation- Dover

Dover- Delaware State Police are currently conducting a criminal investigation on Nathaniel Mitchell Road. As a result, there is an increased police presence in the area. This investigation is in the early stages but there is no threat to the safety of the community. Nathaniel Mitchell Road is closed between Samuel Paynter Drive as a result of this investigation. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.

Delaware State Police Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Crash- Camden

Camden- Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Friday evening in Camden.

On October 08, 2021, at approximately 4:39 p.m., a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by a 57-year-old Clayton man was traveling southbound on South DuPont Highway (SR 13) approaching Old North Road. At this time, a gray 2019 Jeep Cherokee, was stopped in the left turn lane of northbound S. Dupont Highway, preparing to turn westbound onto Old North Road.  When the traffic light turned green, the Jeep began its left turn towards Old North Road. All traffic on S. Dupont Highway was stopped for the southbound red signal at this time. As the Jeep was proceeding to make the left turn, the Harley motorcycle entered the left shoulder of S. Dupont Highway passing several stopped cars. The Harley failed to stop at the red light and entered the intersection. As the Jeep entered the intersection the front of the Jeep struck the front of the Harley.

After impact, the operator was thrown from motorcycle in a southwesterly direction. The 57-year-old operator of the Harley was transported to Bayhealth Hospital Kent Campus, where he later died from his injuries.  His identification is pending notification to the next of kin.

The 51-year-old male operator of the Jeep was not injured during the collision.

The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while the collision was investigated, and the roadway cleared.

Delaware State Police Investigating Convenience Store Robbery- Wilmington

Wilmington– Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a Wilmington area convenience store that occurred early this morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:55 a.m., Friday, October 8, 2021, at the Dash In convenience store, located at 4598 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, when troopers responded for a report of a robbery. Investigation determined a male suspect entered the store and confronted a female employee behind the sales counter. The suspect implied he had a gun an advised the employee this is a robbery. The suspect demanded cigarettes and removed several packs from the shelf. Once obtaining numerous packs of cigarettes, the suspect fled the scene on foot southbound Limestone Road. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect was described as a black male approximately 30 years of age wearing all dark clothing.

Trooper’s Seek Public’s Assistance Locating Wanted Lewes Man- Sussex County

Sussex County, DE- Delaware State Police are seeking the public’s assistance locating Arthur Ralph, 41, of Lewes, who is wanted on four counts of Rape Third Degree (Felony). Ralph may be operating a blue 2009 Chrysler 300 (DE Registration) in the Delaware or Salisbury, MD area.

Ralph is described as a white male, 5’10”, 200 lbs., green eyes, and brown hair.

Troopers Investigating Shoplifting Turned Robbery – Newark

Newark – Delaware State Police are investigating a shoplifting turned robbery that occurred at the Home Depot Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m., Tuesday, October 05, 2021, at the Home Depot located at 1301 Churchmans Road, Newark. The investigation determined an unknown suspect removed several power tools from the shelves and exited the business without paying. A 39-year-old male employee who observed the theft, confronted the suspect and a physical altercation ensued. During the altercation the suspect removed a knife from his waistband and displayed towards the victim. The victim backed away and suspect fled the scene on foot with the stolen merchandise. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 20-30 years of age, 5’10-6’1” tall, 210-220 lbs., wearing a light colored sweatshirt, and dark pants.

Delaware State Police Investigating Carjacking – Claymont

Claymont – The Delaware State Police are investigating a carjacking that took place in the parking lot of the Food Lion Saturday night.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:40 p.m., Saturday, October 2, 2021, in the parking lot of the Food Lion located at 3609 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont. An unknown suspect approached a 73-year-old male sitting inside of his 2020 gray Hyundai Sonata parked in front of the store. The suspect opened the driver side door to the vehicle and demanded the car keys. The victim refused and the suspect began to physically assault the victim. The victim fought back, but was overtaken after two additional suspects entered the front passenger door to the vehicle and pulled the victim out. All three suspects then fled northbound Philadelphia Pike in the stolen vehicle. The victim sustained minor injuries, but refused medical treatment at the scene.

The suspects were described as three thin black males all wearing dark clothing. There are no surveillance images available at this time.

On Sunday, October 3, 2021, the stolen Hyundai was located abandoned in Philadelphia. The vehicle was recovered and transported back to Delaware.
