Blades, DE- Delaware State Police arrested George Reha, 35, of Seaford, early Wednesday morning on weapon and drug charges after troopers were called to a convenience store to check on his welfare.

On November 24, 2021, at approximately 7:28 a.m., troopers and EMS were dispatched to Royal Farms located at 8800 Concord Road to check on the welfare of a male, later identified as George Reha. Reha appeared to be nodding off while in the driver seat of a GMC Sierra. Upon contact, he displayed signs of being under the influence of drugs, and a DUI investigation ensued. Reha was taken into custody without incident, and a search of his person was conducted. Located in his pant pocket was $8,797 in suspected drug proceeds. A search of his vehicle resulted in troopers finding the following items:

• Approximately 5.99 grams of cocaine
• Drug Paraphernalia
• 1- large Bowie Knife
• 1- Switchblade knife

Reha did not required medical attention and was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 5, where he was charged with the following crimes:

• 4th Offense DUI (Felony)
• Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
• Possession of a Controlled Substance
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
• Possession of a Switchblade

Reha was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $9,500.00 cash bond.

New Castle – Delaware State Police is investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred late yesterday morning.

On Monday, November 22, 2021, at approximately 11:44 a.m., a 2019 Freightliner tow truck was traveling northbound on I-95 in the right lane of travel.  At the same time, a 2012 Ford Escape had pulled over to the right shoulder of I-95 just north of the exit to Route 141 southbound.  As the Freightliner neared the location of the Ford Escape, for unknown reasons, the sole occupant exited his vehicle and entered into the right lane of travel. The Freightliner attempted to swerve to the left, but was unable to avoid the collision and struck the pedestrian.

The 25-year-old male victim of Bear, DE was pronounced deceased at the scene. The name of the victim is pending notification to the next of kin.

The 51-year-old operator of the tow truck of Clayton, DE was not injured in the crash.

The two right lanes of I-95 northbound were closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

Wilmington – Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a Wilmington area gas station that occurred this morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:55 a.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at the Exxon gas station, located at 2007 Newport Gap Pike, Wilmington, when troopers responded to an armed robbery. Investigation determined a male suspect entered the store and confronted a male employee behind the sales counter. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money from the register. The employee complied and the suspect fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect fled on foot westbound Route 2. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect was described as a black male wearing all dark clothing.

No surveillance images are available at this time.

Rehoboth Beach – Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred shortly after midnight outside The Pond Bar and Grill.

On November 21, 2021, at approximately 12:06 a.m., troopers responded to The Pond Bar and Grill, located at 19266 Coastal Highway, for a report of subjects fighting in the parking lot. Within two minutes, Sussex County Emergency Operations Center (9-1-1) updated the responding troopers that shots were  fired. Upon their arrival, it was determined one male victim had been shot during the ruckus, but had already left the area in a privately owned vehicle and traveled to Beebe Medical Center for a gunshot wound to his leg. The wound is considered to be non-life-threatening. No other victims were located at the scene.

A search of the crime scene was conducted and 32 shell casings were located in the parking lot. Two vehicles were struck as well as the front window of the bar. It was later determined that a round struck a second floor room in the Comfort Inn next door.

At approximately 12:24 a.m. another call was received by the Emergency Operations Center advising there were shots fired at the Wawa located at 35436 Wolfe Neck Road, Rehoboth. In this incident, there were no reported victims of the gunfire and several empty shell casings were located outside the business in the parking lot.

Due to the short time frame between the two incidents, it is assumed that the shootings may be linked.

There are no surveillance photographs or suspect information available.

These incidents remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Troop 4 Criminal Investigation Unit. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Detective A. Claymont – The Delaware State Police have arrested a Wilmington man after he was acting suspiciously in a local Wawa.

Troopers responded to the Wawa, located at 697 Naamans Road, on Friday November 19, 2021 around 2:49 a.m. when an employee phoned 9-1-1 to report a subject acting strange while patronizing the store. The female clerk stated the male was walking in and out of the store spilling coffee and knocking items over. The subject then walked behind the deli counter where the employee was working and she became concerned for her safety when she saw what appeared to be the handle of a firearm sticking out of his pocket.

When troopers arrived at the store, the male was given numerous verbal commands to keep his hands away from the firearm, but continued to make movements toward the pocket where the gun was hidden. The subject, who was later identified as Zaire Dollard, 24, eventually complied with the orders and was placed in custody without further incident.

A computer inquiry revealed Dollard had two capiases out of local courts and the .45 caliber pistol recovered was reported stolen on May 31, 2020. Dollard is also a person prohibited from possessing a weapon.

Zaire Dollard was transported back to Troop 1 where he was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, and Receiving a Stolen Firearm. He was arraigned at JP11 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $23,000.00 cash bond.

Long Neck – Delaware State Police have arrested a Long Neck man after he shot at troopers in the Potnets Creekside development.

The incident began around 8:25 p.m. Friday November 19, 2021 when a female called 9-1-1 to report a domestic in-progress at her home located in the 25000 block of Crab Alley E. The female advised the dispatchers that her boyfriend had been consuming alcohol since he returned home this afternoon and was now locked inside a bedroom with their 9-month-old child. She also stated her boyfriend, who was later identified as Michael Bartie, 31, was refusing to come out with the child and was putting on body armor and arming himself with a rifle.

The female was able to leave the house on her own and placed in the safety of the responding troopers who had established a perimeter around the house. Negotiations with Bartie began over the phone for him to exit the house, but he continued to be uncooperative, and at one point, threatened there would be a shootout. At approximately 8:58 p.m. Bartie walked outside of his house carrying a flashlight and the rifle, pointing it in the direction of the troopers. Within that time, Bartie fired off one round in the direction of the troopers and then another round was fired by Bartie before a trooper returned fire and struck Bartie in the torso.

At that point, Bartie stopped shooting at the troopers and Delaware State Police Aviation (Trooper 2) was able to observe him lying next to a vehicle in the driveway. Troopers approached Bartie and placed him into custody before allowing EMS to transport him to an area hospital where he was admitted for his non-life-threatening injury. Found in Bartie’s possession or in the immediate area were two firearms, a .223 assault rifle and a 9mm handgun.

Michael Bartie was formally arraigned bedside at the hospital for the following charges:

• Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
• Four counts of Reckless Endangering 1st

He has been remanded to the Delaware Department of Correction in lieu of $600,000.00 cash bond. Currently there is no photo of Bartie.

The trooper, a 5-year-veteran assigned to Troop 7 in Lewes, has been placed on administrative duty per divisional policy. No troopers or members of the public were injured during this incident.

The 9-month-old child was unharmed and was safely returned to his mother.

Hartly – The Delaware State Police have arrested a Dover area man after he stole a citizens vehicle and then a police vehicle.

The incident began at 7:11 a.m. this morning, Friday November 19, 2021 when a female victim called 9-1-1 to report her 2016 Chevrolet Traverse had just been stolen from her driveway on Judith Road. As troopers were responding the residence, a Clayton Police Officer spotted the vehicle around 7:34 a.m. traveling westbound on Wheatleys Pond Road (SR 300) entering into the Town of Kenton. As the Clayton Officer activated the emergency equipment on the police vehicle, the Chevrolet Traverse drove off the side of the road and into a field where the male operator, who was later identified as Cary T. Green, 34 of Dover, exited the vehicle and began running. A foot pursuit ensued and the Clayton Officer deployed his taser which temporarily stopped Green from fleeing, but he continued to fight with the Clayton Officer until a Kenton Police Officer arrived to assist with handcuffing Green and take him into custody.

Once Green was placed in the rear of the Kenton Police Officer’s patrol vehicle, the Kenton Officer began rendering first aid to the Clayton Officer who sustained a head injury. As the two were standing next to the Clayton Police Officer’s vehicle, Green, who was still handcuffed, was able to bring his hands from behind his back to the front and unknowingly climbed over the front seat. Once in the driver’s seat, Green fled the area in the Kenton Police Department vehicle. Troopers began converging on the area and at approximately 8:08 a.m. a citizen reported a male subject with handcuffs walking in the area of the 200 block of Seeneytown Road. Troopers located Green and took him into custody without further incident. The Kenton Police Department vehicle was located abandoned behind a residence in the 500 block of Seeneytown Road with all the officer’s equipment, including his departmentally issued shotgun still in the vehicle.

Cary Green was transported back to Troop 3 in Camden where he was charged with the following:

• Assault 2nd on a Law Enforcement Officer
• Theft of a Firearm
• Two counts of Theft of a Motor Vehicle
• Resisting Arrest with Force
• Criminal Trespass 3rd

He was arraigned at JP7 and issued a $15,001.00 cash bond.

During the course of this investigation, it was determined that Green was also involved in a robbery that occurred at the Hartly Royal Farms on Thursday November 18, 2021. This incident occurred around 7:07 a.m. when Green is alleged to have entered the store, located at 6538 Halltown Road, and demand money from the register while proclaiming he had a gun. The clerk complied with the demand and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash before Green fled the store and ran into the wood line south of the store.

He was charge with:

• Robbery 1st
• Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony
• Terroristic Threatening

He was arraigned at JP7 and remanded to the Delaware Department of Correction in lieu of $26,000.00 cash bond.
