State Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash – North Dover

Dover – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Tuesday morning.

At approximately 5:47 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2021 a 2003 Toyota Prius was traveling southbound on Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway (SR1) just north of the Exit 104 off ramp for Scarborough Road. For unknown reasons the Prius travelled off the east edge of the roadway and partially into the center grass median before veering back onto the roadway, rotating in a clockwise direction and travelling across both southbound lanes. The Prius then drives off the west side of SR1 where it strikes a metal guardrail with its front bumper and continues to rotate in a clockwise manner as it travels through the guardrail before coming to a stop.

The operator, Marc M. Jeudy, 53 of Georgetown, was properly restrained and had to be extricated from the vehicle by fire department personnel. He was then flown to Christiana Medical Center by Delaware State Police Aviation where he was admitted in critical condition. Mr. Jeudy succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 3:06 a.m.

A 53-year-old female passenger from Georgetown (wife) was properly restrained and transported to the Bayhealth Kent General Hospital where she was treated and released for minor injuries.

Traffic on SR1 southbound in the area of Exit 104 was impacted for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

The Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into the crash. *UPDATE-FATAL* State Troopers Investigating Serious Crash – Milford

Milford – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash that occurred this afternoon north of Milford.

Around 2:26 p.m. Sunday November 7, 2021, a 2016 Kia Soul, operated by a 31-year-old female from New Windsor, NY, was traveling southbound on Bay Road (SR1) in the right lane just south of Old Cemetery Road. A 2016 Ford F-450 Comcast/Xfinity bucket truck, operated by a 56-year-old male from Dover, was stopped on the right shoulder of SR1 just south of Old Cemetery Road with its amber lights flashing. For unknown reasons, the Kia suddenly veered to the right shoulder and struck the rear of the truck.

The 31-year-old driver of the Kia Soul was properly restrained and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. A dog traveling inside the Kia was turned over to the local SPCA and it is unknown if the animal was injured.

The 56-year-old Comcast truck operator was properly restrained and was transported to Bayhealth Sussex Campus where he was treated and released for non-life-threatening injuries.

SR1 southbound between Old Cemetery Road and Cicada Lane was closed for approximately three and a half hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

Milford – Delaware State Police are on the scene of a serious motor vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 2:26 p.m. this afternoon, Sunday November 7, 2021, on Bay Road (SR1) southbound north of Cicada Lane.

Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Bear Area Man

Newark- Delaware State Police arrested 27-year-old Cory Crum of Bear on drug and weapon charges following a traffic stop early Saturday evening.

On November 6, 2021, at approximately 7:22 p.m., a trooper on routine patrol on Churchmans Road in the area of Geoffrey Drive observed a silver BMW 325 make an illegal U-turn on Churchmans Road. A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the operator and sole occupant, Cory Crum. During contact the trooper observed suspected marijuana in plain sight inside of the vehicle. Subsequently, a probable cause search was conducted and the trooper discovered approximately 2.75 grams of marijuana and a loaded Taurus 9mm handgun with an obliterated serial number. Crum, who is a person prohibited, was taken into custody without incident.

Crum was transported to Troop 6 where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon by Person Prohibit Who Also Possesses a Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon or Ammunition by Person Prohibited (Felony) – 2 counts
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
  • Possession of a Weapon with a Removed, Obliterated or Altered Serial Number (Felony)
  • Possession of Marijuana (Civil)
  • Failure to Signal
  • Illegal U-Turn
  • Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device

Cory Crum was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $60,400.00 cash bond..

*UPDATE-FATAL* State Troopers Investigating Serious Crash – Newark Area

Newark, DE – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash that occurred early this morning north of Ogletown.

Around 5:50 a.m. Saturday November 6, 2021, a 2001 Ford Focus, operated by a 18-year-old male from Newark, was traveling westbound on Ogletown Stanton Road (SR4) in the left thru lane and was approaching the intersection with Harmony Road. At the same time, a 2002 Dodge Dakota, operated by a 52-year-old female from Wilmington, was traveling northbound on Harmony Road approaching the intersection with SR4. The intersection of SR4 and Harmony Road is controlled by traffic lights. Both vehicles then entered the intersection at the same time, which resulted in the Focus striking the front passenger’s side of the Dakota.

The 52-year-old driver of the Dodge Dakota was not properly restrained and was transported by EMS to Christiana Medical Center (CMC) where she was pronounced dead. Her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

A 53-year-old male passenger in the Dakota was not properly restrained and was treated and released on the scene by EMS with unknown injuries.

The 18-year-old driver of the Ford Focus was not properly restrained and was transported to CMC where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The intersection of SR4 and Harmony Road was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

No charges have been filed at this time and the traffic control signals at the intersection were functioning correctly at the time of the crash.

New Castle County Crime Blitz Results in Mass Arrests

New Castle County – A multi-agency operation conducted on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at targeted locations throughout New Castle County area has resulted in the arrest of 46 individuals on criminal charges. The operation was conducted in specific targeted areas throughout this region to address criminal activity as well as ongoing quality of life issues.

During the eight-hour enforcement blitz, police arrested 46 individuals for either a criminal charge or outstanding capias resulting in the clearance of 54 active warrants. In total there were 46 criminal arrests (22 felony, 24 misdemeanor) which included charges for weapons, drugs, and probation violations, along with 130 traffic arrests. Items and contraband seized as a result of the operation included 4 firearms, 2,772 grams of cocaine (2.7 kilos of cocaine), 439.36 grams of marijuana, 9 grams of crack cocaine, .504 grams of Heroin (72 baggies), 3 prescription pills and drug paraphernalia

This initiative was a collaborative effort between the Delaware State Police, New Castle County Police Department, Wilmington Police Department, Newport Police Department, New Castle City Police Department, Probation and Parole, Department of Corrections and Justice of the Peace Court 11.

This combined effort highlights how the cooperation of multiple law enforcement agencies combat crime which in turn increases quality of life for the communities we serve.
