This collision remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit. Bear– Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a Bear area grocery store that occurred yesterday afternoon.

At approximately 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 31, 2021, troopers responded to the La Morena, located at 757 Pulaski Highway, Bear, for a knife point robbery. The investigation determined a male suspect entered the grocery store and confronted an employee behind the sales counter. The suspect displayed a large kitchen knife and removed an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register. The suspect then entered a small drawer below the register and removed cashier checks. The suspect fled on foot eastbound towards Pulaski Highway. The employee gave chase which caused the suspect to drop his phone. The employee picked it up, but gave it back after the suspect engaged the victim again brandishing the knife. The suspect then ran to a black sedan parked in the rear of the business and fled the scene. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male approximately 5’6”-”5’7” tall, 130-150 lbs. There are no surveillance images available at this time.

Dover – The Delaware State Police announces the retirement of Sandra L. Frazier who has proudly served the citizens of Delaware with distinction and faithful service for 52 years.

Ms. Frazier began her career on June 1, 1969 when she was hired as a Clerk Typist II. She continued to serve as a stenographer, secretary, accountant, fiscal analyst, and worked in various assignments to include the Traffic Section, Personnel Section and Fiscal Control Section. Since 2007, Ms. Frazier has been the Senior Fiscal Administrative Officer for the Fiscal Control Section.

In 2010, Ms. Frazier was awarded the Civilian Employee of the Year after she took on the challenge of learning and implementing a new State accounting system. As the State of Delaware was transitioning to this new system, Ms. Frazier was responsible for ensuring the training and subsequent implementation for DSP fiscal personnel.  This system proved to be a large challenge due to the unique nature of the Delaware State Police financial systems versus other State entities.  The changes and related challenges of the new program impacted nearly every section within DSP. With Ms. Frazier as the lead, her fiscal team worked through these challenges in order to meet the requirements of the new program.

Ms. Frazier was a graduated of the very first Civilian Leadership Development Program (L.D.P.) in May of 2014. This training is a critical component for effective engagement, career enhancement, team building, and succession planning. Initially offered to law enforcement supervisors, a civilian leadership component was added to the training program curriculum in the spring of 2014.

She has served the DSP in a variety of roles during her tenure, culminating in her leadership within the DSP fiscal section.  She has improved our business processes but most importantly has been a respected friend and colleague to generations of DSP members. New Castle– Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a New Castle area convenience store that occurred early this morning.

At approximately 3:00 a.m., Thursday, December 30, 2021, troopers responded to the Wawa, located at 1400 Beaver Brook Plaza, New Castle, for an armed robbery. The investigation determined a male suspect entered the store and confronted an employee behind the sales counter. The suspect displayed a black semiautomatic handgun and demanded money from the cash register. The employee complied and the suspect then approached the store manager who was standing behind a second cash register. The suspect demanded money from the three remaining cash registers and the safe. The manager complied and the suspect fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash through a rear business door. The suspect was last seen running towards the Beaver Brook Apartments.

The suspect was described as a white male approximately 40 years of age, 6’ tall, wearing all dark clothing, a mask, and a baseball hat. There are no suspect photographs available at this time.

Wilmington– Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred Wednesday night on southbound Limestone Road (Route 7) in the area of Milltown Road.

On Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at approximately 9:19 p.m., a 2008 Toyota Camry was traveling southbound on Limestone Road (Route 7) in the left lane of travel approaching the intersection with Milltown Road.  Four juveniles had departed the Valero located at 1327 McKenna’s Church Road and were attempting to cross Route 7 traveling west towards Milltown Road.  The juvenile pedestrians were in the process of crossing the roadway while in the vicinity of the marked pedestrian crosswalk.  The Toyota entered the intersection and it’s front left collided with one of the pedestrians.  As a result of the impact the pedestrian was thrown in southeast direction and came to rest on the right shoulder of northbound Route 7. 

The 13-year-old pedestrian of Smyrna, DE, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision.  Identification of the victim is pending notification to the next of kin.

The 19-year-old operator of the Toyota did not sustain any injuries.

At this time, it is unknown what the traffic signal / pedestrian crosswalk signal displayed at the time off the collision. Impairment does not appear to be a factor in this collision.

The roadway was closed for approximately 3.5 hours while the investigation was completed, and the roadway was cleared.

Wilmington – Delaware State Police are on the scene of a serious motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian that occurred at approximately 9:19 p.m. this evening, December 29, 2021, on Limestone Road at Milltown Road.

As a result of the crash, Limestone Road is closed at the intersection with Milltown Road for emergency response vehicles on scene. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes of travel. The road closure is anticipated to be lengthy, with no estimated time for a re-opening.

Millville- Delaware State Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred Wednesday morning.

On December 29, 2021, at approximately 10:40 a.m., Delaware State Police responded to the Artisans Bank located at 35696 Atlantic Ave, Millville, for a report of a robbery. The investigation determined a male suspect entered the bank, approached a bank teller behind the counter and displayed a note demanding money. The bank teller complied, and the suspect fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, northbound across Atlantic Ave.

The suspect was described as a white male wearing a dark-colored jacket, dark pants, with a mask and a beanie hat.

No one was injured during this incident and there are no surveillance photographs available at this time.
