*Traffic Advisory* Delaware State Police Investigating Serious Crash- Camden

Camden– Delaware State Police are on the scene of a serious motor vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 11:08 a.m. this morning, December 30, 2021, on South Dupont Highway (Route 13) at Old North Road.

As a result of the crash, Route 13 is closed in both directions between Old North Road and West Lebanon Road (Route 10) for emergency response vehicles on scene. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes of travel. The road closure is anticipated to be lengthy, with no estimated time for a re-opening.

Delaware State Police Investigating Robbery of Convenience Store- New Castle

New Castle– Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a New Castle area convenience store that occurred early this morning.

At approximately 3:00 a.m., Thursday, December 30, 2021, troopers responded to the Wawa, located at 1400 Beaver Brook Plaza, New Castle, for an armed robbery. The investigation determined a male suspect entered the store and confronted an employee behind the sales counter. The suspect displayed a black semiautomatic handgun and demanded money from the cash register. The employee complied and the suspect then approached the store manager who was standing behind a second cash register. The suspect demanded money from the three remaining cash registers and the safe. The manager complied and the suspect fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash through a rear business door. The suspect was last seen running towards the Beaver Brook Apartments.

The suspect was described as a white male approximately 40 years of age, 6’ tall, wearing all dark clothing, a mask, and a baseball hat. There are no suspect photographs available at this time.

Delaware State Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Crash – Wilmington

WilmingtonDelaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred Wednesday night on southbound Limestone Road (Route 7) in the area of Milltown Road.

On Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at approximately 9:19 p.m., a 2008 Toyota Camry was traveling southbound on Limestone Road (Route 7) in the left lane of travel approaching the intersection with Milltown Road.  Four juveniles had departed the Valero located at 1327 McKenna’s Church Road and were attempting to cross Route 7 traveling west towards Milltown Road.  The juvenile pedestrians were in the process of crossing the roadway while in the vicinity of the marked pedestrian crosswalk.  The Toyota entered the intersection and it’s front left collided with one of the pedestrians.  As a result of the impact the pedestrian was thrown in southeast direction and came to rest on the right shoulder of northbound Route 7. 

The 13-year-old pedestrian of Smyrna, DE, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision.  Identification of the victim is pending notification to the next of kin.

The 19-year-old operator of the Toyota did not sustain any injuries.

At this time, it is unknown what the traffic signal / pedestrian crosswalk signal displayed at the time off the collision. Impairment does not appear to be a factor in this collision.

The roadway was closed for approximately 3.5 hours while the investigation was completed, and the roadway was cleared.

Delaware State Police Investigating Bank Robbery- Millville

Millville- Delaware State Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred Wednesday morning.

On December 29, 2021, at approximately 10:40 a.m., Delaware State Police responded to the Artisans Bank located at 35696 Atlantic Ave, Millville, for a report of a robbery. The investigation determined a male suspect entered the bank, approached a bank teller behind the counter and displayed a note demanding money. The bank teller complied, and the suspect fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, northbound across Atlantic Ave.

The suspect was described as a white male wearing a dark-colored jacket, dark pants, with a mask and a beanie hat.

No one was injured during this incident and there are no surveillance photographs available at this time.
