Delaware State Police have arrested 61-year-old Robert Barry of Clayton, DE and 57-year-old Janeen Vidakovich of Clayton, DE on drug and weapon charges following a narcotics investigation that began in April.

On May 9, 2022, troopers concluded a two-month drug investigation surrounding Robert Barry. A search warrant was executed on Barry’s residence in Clayton, and both Barry and Vidakovich initially resisted arrest with troopers at the scene. Both subjects were subsequently taken into custody without further incident. The ensuing search of the home led to the discovery of approximately 1,604.52 grams (approximately 3.5 pounds) of methamphetamine, approximately 37.58 grams of psilocybin, approximately 0.26 grams of MDMA, approximately 46.44 grams of marijuana, a Connecticut Valley Arms .50 caliber firearm, and over $5,700 in suspected drug proceeds.

Both Barry and Vidakovich were transported to Troop 3 and charged with the following crimes:

• Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Felony) – 2 counts
• Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Felony) – 2 counts

• Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
• Tampering With Evidence (Felony)
• Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)

Barry was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $261,300 cash bond.

Janeen Vidakovich:

• Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Felony) – 2 counts
• Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Felony) – 2 counts
• Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony)

• Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)
• Possession of Marijuana

Delaware State Police have arrested 31-year-old Jesse Drummond of Bridgeville, DE on felony drug charges following a traffic stop that occurred in the Lewes area on Thursday morning.

On May 19, 2022, at approximately 2:15 a.m., a trooper on patrol observed a white Lincoln MKX traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway west of Camp Arrowhead Road. The trooper noticed that the vehicle failed to maintain its lane of travel as it crossed the center line and fog line on the roadway. The trooper initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as Jesse Drummond. Ensuing computer checks of Drummond revealed that his driver’s license was suspended and he had an active warrant for his arrest. Troopers also detected the strong odor of marijuana emitting from the car’s interior. Drummond was taken into custody at the scene without incident. A subsequent search of Drummond and the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 15.4 grams of cocaine, approximately 9.25 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and over $2,400 in suspected drug proceeds.

Drummond was transported to Troop 7 and charged with the following offenses:

• Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 2 Quantity (Felony)
• Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony)
• Tampering With Evidence (Felony)
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 2 counts
• Driving While Suspended / Revoked
• Failure to Remain Within a Single Lane

Drummond was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $33,401 cash bond.

Delaware State Police have arrested 18-year-old Aubree Cruz and a 15-year-old male, both of Dover, DE, following a burglary that took place in the Dover area on Wednesday afternoon.

On May 18, 2022, at approximately 1:23 p.m., troopers responded to a residence on the 3000 block of Forrest Avenue regarding a report of a burglary that had just occurred. The 34-year-old male homeowner informed police that he had observed two subjects breaking into his residence, one of which was armed. The victim was able to retrieve his legally owned firearm and fire rounds at one of them, causing both suspects to flee the scene. Shortly afterwards, troopers contacted a 15-year-old male at Kent General Hospital who had suffered a gunshot wound to his leg. The juvenile had been accompanied by Aubree Cruz, and both individuals were determined to be the suspects that had burglarized the residence on Forrest Avenue.

The juvenile was treated for his injuries and released to troopers from the hospital. Cruz was located by troopers a short time later in the Dover area and taken into custody without incident. Both Cruz and the juvenile were transported to Troop 3 and charged with the following crimes:

• Burglary First Degree (Felony)
• Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)

The juvenile was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 7 and released on $21,000 unsecured bond. Cruz was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 2 and remanded to Sussex Correctional Institution on $11,000 secured bond.

Delaware State Police are investigating a single fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred in the Wilmington area on Friday evening.

On May 13, 2022, at approximately 10:41 p.m., a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound on Murphy Road west of the intersection at Foulk Road. During this time, the operator of the pickup truck lost control of the vehicle, overcorrected his steering, and began to cross the double-yellow line on Murphy Road. The operator then overcorrected a second time and proceeded back into the westbound lane of Murphy Road. The pickup truck continued traveling off the roadway until its left front struck a utility pole on the north side of the roadway, causing the operator to be ejected from the truck. The Silverado came to rest a short distance away after striking a nearby fence.

The operator of the Silverado, a 25-year-old male from Garnet Valley, PA, was not properly restrained. He was transported to an area hospital by ambulance in critical condition. The driver later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on May 14, 2022. Identification of the victim is pending notification to the next-of-kin.

No other vehicles were involved in this incident, and no other injuries were reported.

Delaware State Police are seeking the public’s assistance with locating 46-year-old Elmis Salguero- Sarceno of Lincoln, DE. Elmis currently has an active felony criminal warrant from an incident that occurred on May 16, 2022.

Elmis is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’05” tall, weighing approximately 186 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. His current whereabouts are unknown, and it is unknown if he is operating a vehicle.

Throughout the first half of May, the Delaware State Police commemorated the memories and families of police officers who died in the line of duty, making the ultimate sacrifice protecting while serving their communities. On May 4, 2022, DSP hosted the annual Memorial Service and wreath-laying where troopers, surviving family members, and friends gathered at the DSP Headquarters memorial to honor the 24 troopers who have fallen over the agency’s 99-year history. Later that day, DSP also joined the statewide remembrance ceremony at the Delaware Law Enforcement Memorial outside Legislative Hall.

Between May 11^th and 13^th, troopers were among nearly 2,600 cyclists traversing the 25th Police Unity Tour, embarking on the long and strenuous journey from New Jersey, through Delaware, with the final stop in Washington D.C., for the 34th Annual Candlelight Vigil on May 13^th. Ceremonies culminated on May 15^th, a federally sanctioned holiday since 1962, with the national wreath-laying at Washington, D.C. This year while Corporal Keith Heacook of the Delmar Police Department was added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, troopers continued to embrace Cpl. Heacook’s family and friends with support and respect.

Captain Mary McGuire, Troop 7 Commander, was among the officers who participated for the second time in the Police Unity Tour. She stated, “As for me 20 years later, this ride was much more challenging, and I commend all those who committed to the miles ridden. Spending this time ‘Riding for those who died’ will forever be etched into my memory. To give back just a small part of ourselves to the survivors who awaited us as we arrived at the National Law Enforcement Memorial is worth every mile ridden. Seeing the faces of survivors as we entered the memorial- including such a strong young man as Matthew Heacook – was ‘The Reward.’”

Delaware State Police have arrested David Harris, 33, of Smyrna, DE, for theft of a motor vehicle and related charges following an incident Saturday morning.

On May 14, 2022, at approximately 05:02 a.m., troopers responded to Wheatleys Pond Road in Smyrna to assist Smyrna Police Department in a search for a suspect who fled from a collision scene after being involved in a pursuit with Smyrna Police Department. The suspect, later identified as David Harris, was located at his residence in Smyrna and taken into custody without further incident. Investigation revealed David was operating a stolen vehicle he took earlier in the morning from a residence on the 800 block of West Mount Vernon Street in Smyrna. Also stolen from the victim’s vehicle was $270 worth of property.

David was transported back to Smyrna Police Department and charged with the following crimes:

• Theft of a Motor Vehicle (Felony)
• Theft under $1500
• Criminal Trespass

David was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court # 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institute on a $4000 secured bond. All pursuit-related crimes were charged by Smyrna Police Department.
