Troopers Seek Public’s Assistance With Locating Wanted Subject

Delaware State Police are seeking the public’s assistance with locating 49-year-old John Swigart of North East, MD. Swigart currently has an active felony criminal warrant out of Troop 7 for an incident that occurred on May 19, 2022.

Swigart is described as a white male, approximately 5’11” tall, weighing approximately 210 pounds, with short brown hair and hazel eyes. He may be operating a silver Infinity hatchback with unknown Maryland registration plates. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Attempts to locate Swigart have been unsuccessful. Troopers are asking anyone who has information regarding his whereabouts to contact Troop 7 at 302-644-5020, or by calling 9-1-1. Troopers Seek Public’s Assistance in Identifying Shoplifters

Delaware State Police are seeking the public’s assistance with attempting to identify two suspects who shoplifted from the Lowe’s in Lewes on Monday evening.

On May 16, 2022, at approximately 8:28 p.m., an unknown white male subject and an unknown white female subject entered the Lowe’s located at 20364 Plantation Road and removed a large amount of merchandise from the store without rendering payment for the items. The suspects then entered a black Chevrolet Cruze in the parking lot and were last seen departing from the area towards Plantation Road. No vehicle registration information is available, and their destination is unknown.

The white male suspect is described as approximately 5’11” tall, weighing approximately 235 pounds, with a larger build. He is missing the lower portion of his right arm. The white female suspect is described as approximately 5’10” tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds, with black hair and an average build. It is believed that both suspects may be involved in similar shoplifting incidents throughout the state.

Delaware State Police Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision

Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred in the Georgetown area on Thursday evening.

On May 19, 2022, at approximately 5:52 p.m., a 2015 Honda Civic was traveling southbound on East Trap Pond Road approaching the intersection at Hardscrabble Road, where there is a posted stop sign. At the same time, a 2014 Honda Accord was traveling westbound on Hardscrabble Road approaching the intersection at East Trap Pond Road. Hardscrabble Road is a through-way at this location and vehicle traffic is not required to stop. For unknown reasons, the Civic failed to stop at the posted stop sign and continued into the intersection directly into the path of the Accord. As a result, the front of the Accord struck the left front of the Civic. After the collision, the Civic was forced off the roadway and rolled once before coming to rest in a residential yard. The Accord was also forced off the roadway and came to rest in a residential yard.

Both operators were properly restrained. The driver of the Accord, a 60-year-old female from Seaford, DE, was transported to an area hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries and released.

The operator of the Civic, a 23-year-old female from Salisbury, MD, was transported to an area hospital for serious injuries, where she was later pronounced deceased. Identification of the victim is pending notification to the next-of-kin.

No other vehicles were involved in this incident, and no other injuries were reported. The intersection of Hardscrabble Road and East Trap Pond Road was closed for approximately three hours while the investigation was being conducted.

Delaware State Police Arrest Two Subjects Following Narcotics Investigation

Delaware State Police have arrested 61-year-old Robert Barry of Clayton, DE and 57-year-old Janeen Vidakovich of Clayton, DE on drug and weapon charges following a narcotics investigation that began in April.

On May 9, 2022, troopers concluded a two-month drug investigation surrounding Robert Barry. A search warrant was executed on Barry’s residence in Clayton, and both Barry and Vidakovich initially resisted arrest with troopers at the scene. Both subjects were subsequently taken into custody without further incident. The ensuing search of the home led to the discovery of approximately 1,604.52 grams (approximately 3.5 pounds) of methamphetamine, approximately 37.58 grams of psilocybin, approximately 0.26 grams of MDMA, approximately 46.44 grams of marijuana, a Connecticut Valley Arms .50 caliber firearm, and over $5,700 in suspected drug proceeds.

Both Barry and Vidakovich were transported to Troop 3 and charged with the following crimes:

Robert Barry:

  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Felony) – 2 counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Felony) – 2 counts
  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm While Possessing a Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
  • Tampering With Evidence (Felony)
  • Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance

Barry was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $261,300 cash bond.

Janeen Vidakovich:

  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Felony) – 2 counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Felony) – 2 counts
  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm While Possessing a Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance

Vidakovich was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 2 and released on $90,300 unsecured bond.

Troopers Arrest Subject on Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop

Delaware State Police have arrested 31-year-old Jesse Drummond of Bridgeville, DE on felony drug charges following a traffic stop that occurred in the Lewes area on Thursday morning.

On May 19, 2022, at approximately 2:15 a.m., a trooper on patrol observed a white Lincoln MKX traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway west of Camp Arrowhead Road. The trooper noticed that the vehicle failed to maintain its lane of travel as it crossed the center line and fog line on the roadway. The trooper initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as Jesse Drummond. Ensuing computer checks of Drummond revealed that his driver’s license was suspended and he had an active warrant for his arrest. Troopers also detected the strong odor of marijuana emitting from the car’s interior. Drummond was taken into custody at the scene without incident. A subsequent search of Drummond and the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 15.4 grams of cocaine, approximately 9.25 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and over $2,400 in suspected drug proceeds.

Drummond was transported to Troop 7 and charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 2 Quantity (Felony)
  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Tampering With Evidence (Felony)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 2 counts
  • Driving While Suspended / Revoked
  • Failure to Remain Within a Single Lane

Drummond was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $33,401 cash bond.

Delaware State Police Arrest Two Subjects Following Daytime Burglary

Delaware State Police have arrested 18-year-old Aubree Cruz and a 15-year-old male, both of Dover, DE, following a burglary that took place in the Dover area on Wednesday afternoon.

On May 18, 2022, at approximately 1:23 p.m., troopers responded to a residence on the 3000 block of Forrest Avenue regarding a report of a burglary that had just occurred. The 34-year-old male homeowner informed police that he had observed two subjects breaking into his residence, one of which was armed. The victim was able to retrieve his legally owned firearm and fire rounds at one of them, causing both suspects to flee the scene. Shortly afterwards, troopers contacted a 15-year-old male at Kent General Hospital who had suffered a gunshot wound to his leg. The juvenile had been accompanied by Aubree Cruz, and both individuals were determined to be the suspects that had burglarized the residence on Forrest Avenue.

The juvenile was treated for his injuries and released to troopers from the hospital. Cruz was located by troopers a short time later in the Dover area and taken into custody without incident. Both Cruz and the juvenile were transported to Troop 3 and charged with the following crimes:

  • Burglary First Degree (Felony)
  • Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)

The juvenile was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 7 and released on $21,000 unsecured bond. Cruz was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 2 and remanded to Sussex Correctional Institution on $11,000 secured bond.
