Delaware State Police are currently on the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision on Wheel of Fortune Road in the Dover area. As a result, Wheel of Fortune Road is closed in the area of Dyke Branch Road for an extended period. Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes of travel to avoid delays. This collision is in the early stages of the investigation. Additional details will be released once they become available.

Delaware State Police have identified the victim who died in a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on December 10, 2022, in the Lewes area as Carol Greblunas, 73, of Lewes, Delaware.

Additionally, a second victim, a 104-year-old female of Lewes, DE was pronounced deceased at an area hospital on December 11, 2022, from injuries sustained during the collision. Identification is pending notification to the next of kin.

The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed this collision to contact Senior Corporal R. Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred in Lewes yesterday afternoon.

On December 10, 2022, at approximately 3:38 p.m., a Subaru Outback traveling eastbound on Minos Conaway Road was approaching a sharp curve in the roadway. A Lexus RX, traveling westbound on Minos Conaway Road, was approaching the same curve in the roadway. The Subaru failed to negotiate the curve and entered the westbound lane of travel, which caused the Subaru to collide with the Lexus in a near head-on collision.

The driver of the Subaru, a 75-year-old man from Lewes, the front passenger, a 104-year-old woman from Lewes, and the rear passenger, a 73-year-old woman from Lewes, were all wearing their seatbelts during the time of the collision. All occupants of the Subaru were transported to an area hospital for serious injuries. Sadly, the rear passenger died from her injuries while being treated at the hospital. The identification of the victim is pending notification to her family.

The driver of the Lexus, a 69-year-old man from Lewes, and the front passenger, a 68-year-old woman from Lewes, were also wearing their seatbelts during the collision. Both were transported to an area hospital for serious injuries.

The roadway was closed for approximately three and a half hours while the scene was being investigated, and the roadway was cleared.

The Annual Delaware State Police Memorial Service was held at Saint Polycarp Parish on Monday, December 5, 2022, where active and retired troopers, along with their family and friends, came together to honor and remember the service and ultimate sacrifice of their 35 fallen sisters and brothers.

During the Heroes’ Roll Call, the families and friends of the fallen troopers placed a single rose in remembrance of their loved one on a table that held a campaign hat – a revered symbol of all Delaware State Troopers.

The delegation of speakers during the ceremony included Lieutenant Governor Bethany Hall-Long, Chief Deputy Attorney General Alexander Mackler, Secretary of Safety and Homeland Security, Nathaniel McQueen Jr., Superintendent of the Delaware State Police, Colonel Melissa Zebley, President of the Delaware State Troopers Association, Sergeant Troy Pezzuto, and the President of the Concerns of Police Survivors, Mrs. Eleanor Allione.

This annual service embodies the commitment of the Delaware State Police to honor our fallen, support their survivors, and never forget the sacrifice and service of our heroes. May God bless those who continue to protect and serve our communities.

Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian that occurred in Seaford yesterday evening.

On December 8, 2022, at approximately 8:18 p.m., a 2013 gray Dodge Caravan was traveling in the left lane of eastbound Norman Eskridge Highway having just passed through the intersection at North Front Street. At the same time, a 52-year-old man was walking from an unknown direction and was in the left lane of eastbound Norman Eskridge Highway. The man was not using a designated crosswalk, carrying a light, or wearing any reflective clothing. As a result, the Caravan struck the pedestrian, leading to him sustaining serious injuries.

The pedestrian, a 52-year-old man from Seaford, Delaware, was transported to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Identification of the victim is pending notification to his family and relatives. Both the driver of the Caravan, a 62-year-old man from Laurel, Delaware, and the passenger, a 39-year-old man from Laurel, Delaware, were wearing their seatbelts, and neither person was injured.

No other vehicles were involved in this collision. The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while the scene was being investigated and cleared.

Delaware State Police are investigating a vehicle shooting that occurred in the Georgetown area last night.

On December 7, 2022, at approximately 9:28 p.m., troopers responded to the area of Cokesbury Road and Seashore Highway regarding a shooting that had occurred on the roadway. Upon their arrival, troopers contacted the 32-year-old male victim who had crashed his car into a ditch. The ensuing investigation revealed that the victim had been driving northbound on Cokesbury Road when an unknown suspect began driving next to his car. The suspect then fired several rounds into the victim’s vehicle, causing him to drive off the roadway. The victim was not shot but was transported to an area hospital for minor injuries sustained when he struck the ditch. He was released a short time later.

No one else was harmed during this incident. There is no suspect information available, and the circumstances and motive surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.

Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place yesterday evening.

On December 7, 2022, at approximately 7:39 p.m., troopers were dispatched to an armed robbery at GameStop, located at 3204 Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington. The investigation revealed that an unknown male suspect entered the store wearing an unknown type of face covering and dark clothing. The suspect approached two store employees, displayed a firearm in his waistband, and demanded numerous video game accessories. The suspect also demanded an undisclosed amount of money from the cash registers. The suspect then fled the area with the stolen merchandise and money. No one was injured during this incident.

There is no additional suspect description at this time. The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit continues investigating this case.
