Delaware State Police have identified 23-year-old Jahyeim Davis of Seaford, Delaware, as the victim of a homicide that occurred in Laurel on June 3, 2024.

Detectives Investigating Shooting in Wilmington Royal Farms Parking Lot

The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred on Sunday morning in a Royal Farms parking lot in Wilmington.

On June 9, 2024, at approximately 11:17 a.m., troopers responded to the Royal Farms located at 1031 South Market Street, Wilmington, for a report of a shooting. While responding to the scene, troopers received reports of a 20-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound at a nearby hospital. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was in the Royal Farms parking lot when he was struck by gunfire from an unknown suspect. The victim was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle. He remains hospitalized in stable condition.

There is no suspect information available at this time. Surveillance video and images are not yet available.

State Police Investigating Two-Vehicle Fatal Crash on I-495

The Delaware State Police are investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred early this morning on I-495 in Wilmington that left one man dead.

On June 10, 2024, at approximately 2:12 a.m., a white 2020 International HV613 truck tractor was traveling in the right lane on I-495 northbound, north of Edgemoor Road. The truck, which was a United States Postal Service (USPS) truck, did not have a trailer attached. At the same time, a silver 2009 Nissan Altima was traveling on I-495 northbound approaching the rear of the USPS truck. For reasons under investigation, the right-side front of the Nissan struck the left-side rear tires of the USPS truck. As a result of the impact, the USPS truck spun towards the eastern edge of the roadway, where it struck a raised metal guardrail and overturned down an embankment. The USPS truck ultimately came to a stop in the grassy area between I-495 and the railroad tracks. After the initial impact, the Nissan struck the guardrail along the right shoulder before it came to a stop in the northbound lanes of I-495.

The driver of the USPS truck, a 59-year-old man from Yeadon, Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family and relatives are notified.

The driver of the Nissan, a 31-year-old man from Middletown, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The roadway was closed for approximately 7 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

Delaware State Police Investigating Homicide in Ellendale

Delaware State Police are investigating a homicide that occurred in Ellendale yesterday afternoon.

On June 9, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., troopers responded to the 12000 block of North Old State Road, for a shooting. When troopers arrived, they learned that a 17-year-old female had been shot and taken to the Ellendale Fire Company. The victim was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, where she died. Her name is being withheld until her family is notified. A second victim, a 19-year-old man, later responded to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg and was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a fight broke out between several people near the community center when an unknown suspect pulled a gun and fired shots into the crowd hitting the two victims.

Detectives Investigating Shell Gas Station Robbery in Newark

The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred early yesterday morning at a Shell gas station in Newark.

On June 8, 2024, at approximately 5:07 a.m., troopers responded to a report of a robbery at the Shell gas station located at 1148 Christiana Road in Newark. The preliminary investigation revealed 3 unknown suspects used a white van to crash into the gas station’s front glass window while the business was open for service. The suspects then approached a Shell employee, and demanded he open the cash registers. The employee complied and the suspects fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no reported injuries.

The suspects are described as unknown males wearing dark-colored clothing. Surveillance video and images are not yet available.

Detectives Investigating Robbery at Wilmington 7-Eleven

The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred last night at a 7-Eleven in Wilmington.

On June 8, 2024, at approximately 10:01 p.m., troopers responded to a report of a robbery at the 7-Eleven located at 4865 Governor Printz Boulevard in Wilmington. The preliminary investigation revealed an unknown male suspect entered the convenience store, approached an employee, and demanded cash from the register while indicating he had a firearm concealed in his pocket. The employee complied and the suspect fled northbound on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is described as an unknown male wearing dark-colored clothing and a mask. Surveillance video and images are not yet available.

State Police Investigating Single-Vehicle Fatal Crash in Camden

The Delaware State Police are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred yesterday afternoon in Camden that left one woman dead.

On June 8, 2024, at approximately 2:33 p.m., a 1996 Ford F-150 was traveling westbound on Westville Road as it exited a gradual right curve in the area of Probst Lane. For reasons under investigation, the Ford failed to remain in its lane and exited the north edge of the roadway, where it struck a mailbox before it continued in a northwesterly direction and struck a guardrail. The Ford rode the guardrail for a short distance before it fell into a deep tax ditch and struck an embankment. The impact with the embankment caused the Ford to overturn onto its left side, during which the driver was partially ejected from the driver-side window and was pinned under the truck as it came to a stop.

The driver, a 45-year-old woman from Smyrna, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is being withheld until her family and relatives are notified.

The roadway was closed for approximately 4 hours while the investigators examined the scene and cleared the roadway.
