State Police Arrest Wilmington Woman for Organized Retail Theft and Attempted Bank Fraud

The Delaware State Police arrested 30-year-old Nyejierra Drummond, of Wilmington, Delaware, on felony retail theft and fraud-related charges following a multi-month investigation into a series of shoplifting incidents and an attempted fraudulent bank transaction.

Between September and December 2025, troopers investigated several reported shopliftings at retail stores in the Christiana Mall and Fashion Center shopping areas in Newark. During the investigation, troopers learned a repeat female suspect, who would work with different accomplices, stole large quantities of clothing and fragrances over a three-month period.

On March 17, 2026, the same suspect attempted to cash a fraudulent check valued at more than $4,000 at a bank in Wilmington. Bank employees became suspicious of the transaction and contacted the account holder, who confirmed the check was fraudulent.

Through continued investigative efforts, troopers identified Drummond as the primary suspect and determined she was responsible for the theft of more than $24,800 in merchandise from multiple retail locations. Investigators are working to identify her partners.

On April 9, 2026, Drummond was located and arrested in Wilmington. She was taken to Troop 6 where she was charged with the below listed offenses, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a $25,000 cash and a $1000 unsecured bond.
