State Police Investigating Shooting Near Milton, Detectives Ask for Help Finding Suspect

Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred near Milton last night.

On July 14, 2024, at approximately 7:49 p.m., troopers responded to Cool Spring Road near Fisher Road, for a Ford Explorer that crashed into a utility pole. When troopers arrived, they learned that the driver, a 27-year-old man from Laurel, Delaware, had been shot in the back. He was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was driving on West Springside Drive when the suspect fired several rounds at the Explorer, hitting the victim. After the shooting, the Explorer drove away and hit a utility pole a short distance away.

Through investigative means, detectives identified the suspect responsible for the shooting as 24-year-old Timmarus Perry of Milton, Delaware. Detectives have obtained a warrant for Perry’s arrest for the shooting.

Delaware State Police Troop 4 Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this incident. Detectives are asking anyone with information about Perry’s whereabouts to call 9-1-1. State Police Investigating Fatal Crash in Delmar

The Delaware State Police are investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred last night in Delmar that left one man dead.

On July 12, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a 1996 Subaru Outback was traveling southbound on Providence Church Road, approaching the intersection of Delmar Road. At the same time, a 2017 Nissan Rogue was traveling westbound on Delmar Road, approaching the intersection of Providence Church Road. The Subaru did not stop at the stop sign and entered the westbound lane of Delmar Road. As a result, the left front of the Nissan struck the left front of the Subaru in the westbound lane of Delmar Road.

The 48-year-old driver of the Subaru, a man from Salisbury, Maryland, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family and relatives are notified.

The 40-year-old driver of the Nissan, a woman from Laurel, Delaware and three children passengers, sustained minor non-life-threatening injuries.

The roadway was temporarily closed for approximately 3 hours while investigators examined the scene and the roadway to be cleared.

Detectives Investigating Armed Robbery in Smyrna

The Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Saturday night in Smyrna.

On July 6, 2024, at approximately 9:26 p.m., troopers responded to a report of an armed robbery that occurred at the intersection of Joseph Wick Drive and Willowwood Drive in Smyrna. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was walking home when he was approached by 2 unknown black male suspects. A physical altercation ensued between the suspects and victim, during which one of the suspects struck the victim in the back of the head with a handgun. After the altercation ended, the victim attempted to retrieve his jacket and other personal property from the street, however, one of the suspects threatened to shoot him if he grabbed the jacket. The 17-year-old victim, who had sustained a minor injury to the back of his head, then fled from the scene without his personal property.

The suspects are described as black males, approximately 18-19 years old, approximately 5’6″-5’7″ tall, with average builds. Surveillance video and images of the suspects are not available.

State Police Investigating Robbery in Frederica

The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred Saturday night in Frederica.

On July 6, 2024, at approximately 10:45 p.m., troopers responded to a report of a robbery that occurred on Sycamore Drive in Frederica. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was walking on Sycamore Drive when she was approached by an unknown black male suspect on a bicycle. The suspect demanded money from the victim before he proceeded to steal the victim’s backpack. The suspect then fled south on Sycamore Drive on the bicycle with the victim’s property. The victim was not injured.

The suspect is described as a black male wearing dark-colored clothing. Surveillance video and images of the suspect are not available.

State Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash on I-495

The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred last night on I-495 near Edgemoor that left one woman dead.

On July 7, 2024, at approximately 11:43 p.m., a white 2015 Honda Accord was traveling in the left lane of I-495 northbound, north of Edgemoor Road. At the same time, a pedestrian, who was not wearing any reflective clothing or carrying a flashlight, was attempting to cross from the left side of I-495 northbound to the right side. The pedestrian crossed in the path of the Honda and was struck in the left lane of I-495 northbound. After the collision, the Honda came to a stop on the left shoulder. During the investigation, it was discovered the pedestrian was initially operating a black 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was located approximately 1/4 mile north of the crash scene on the right shoulder with its hazard lights on.

The pedestrian, a 38-year-old woman from Elkton, Maryland, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is being withheld until her family and relatives are notified.

The driver of the Honda, a 47-year-old man from Bear, Delaware, was treated and released at an area hospital for minor injuries. The Honda’s two passengers, a 46-year-old woman from New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and a 29-year-old man from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, were also treated and released at an area hospital for minor injuries.

The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours while the investigators examined the scene and cleared the roadway.

Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crash in Newark

The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run crash that occurred yesterday afternoon in Newark that left one man dead.

On July 5, 2024, at approximately 4:14 p.m., a pedestrian was walking northbound on the right shoulder of Salem Church Road, north of Michaels Lane. At the same time, an unknown white vehicle was also traveling northbound on Salem Church Road, north of Michaels Lane. For unknown reasons, the vehicle failed to maintain its lane of travel and drifted onto the shoulder, where it struck the pedestrian. The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene and fled northbound on Salem Church Road.

The pedestrian, a 57-year-old man from Newark, Delaware, was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name is being withheld until his family and relatives are notified.

The striking vehicle is a white vehicle of an unknown make and model with possible damage to the front right.
