Delaware State Police are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred last night in Felton.

On September 20, 2024, at approximately 8:17 p.m., a 56-year-old man from Felton was driving a GMC Sierra eastbound on Sandtown Road when the vehicle exited a left curve. For unknown reasons, the truck veered off the south side of the roadway near the 4000 block of Sandtown Road. The vehicle continued eastward, partially on the grass and roadway, before the driver swerved left. This caused the truck to rotate counterclockwise and re-enter the road, skidding sideways in a northeastern direction.

The vehicle eventually left the road again, overturning along a ditch and coming to rest upright in a cornfield on the north side of Sandtown Road. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld until his family is notified.

Sandtown Road was closed for approximately three hours while the Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the scene and cleared the roadway.

The Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at Uncle Willie’s in Millsboro yesterday.

On September 18, 2024, at approximately 6:20 p.m., troopers responded to a report of a robbery at Uncle Willie’s, located at 30058 John J. Williams Highway in Millsboro. The preliminary investigation revealed that two unknown white male suspects entered the store, approached the cashier while holding a firearm. The suspects demanded money and tobacco products. The cashier complied, and the suspects fled in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspects are described as white males wearing dark-colored clothing. Surveillance video and images are not yet available.

Delaware State Police are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred in Felton early yesterday morning.

On September 17, 2024, at approximately 2:02 a.m., a Ford F-150 was traveling westbound on Spectrum Farms Road approaching Edwardsville Road. For reasons under investigation, the F-150 failed to negotiate a curve, left the north side of the road, and overturned. An unrestrained passenger was ejected from the truck.

The passenger, a 14-year-old male from Felton, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

An occupant, a 19-year-old woman from Felton, was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Another occupant, an unknown male, left the scene before troopers arrived. The driver of the F-150 has not yet been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

The roadway was closed for approximately 4 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

The Delaware State Police are investigating a pedestrian fatal crash that occurred last night that left one woman dead.

On September 17, 2024, at approximately 8:23 p.m., a maroon Hyundai Sonata was traveling westbound on Boulden Boulevard, approaching the intersection with Southgate Boulevard. At the same time, a pedestrian was attempting to cross Boulden Boulevard from the north side of the roadway to the south side. The pedestrian entered the Hyundai’s path of travel as she crossed the roadway, and was struck by the Hyundai.

The pedestrian, a 44-year-old woman from Middletown, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her name is being withheld until her family and relatives are notified.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 22-year-old man from Wilmington, Delaware, was not injured.

The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a tractor and a school bus that occurred yesterday morning in New Castle that left one man dead.

On September 16, 2024, at approximately 8:18 a.m., a Blue Bird school bus was traveling in the left lane of South Dupont Highway northbound, south of Federal School Lane in New Castle. At the same time, a John Deere tractor was traveling on the right shoulder of South Dupont Highway northbound, south of Federal School Lane. The preliminary investigation revealed that the tractor entered the school bus’s path of travel as it made a left turn from the shoulder and attempted to cross the northbound lanes of South Dupont Highway towards a crossover. As a result, the school bus struck the tractor, and the tractor’s operator was ejected.

The operator of the tractor, an 85-year-old man, from New Castle, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name is being withheld until his family and relatives are notified.

The driver of the school bus, a 55-year-old woman from New Castle, Delaware, was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. A 56-year-old female passenger on the school bus was also taken by ambulance to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The school bus was transporting 7 George Read Middle School students, all of whom were seat belted, and were not injured.

The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
