Come decked out in your Halloween finest and enjoy an interactive afternoon with your public safety friends. Please reach out to your county’s Community Engagement representative for inquiries or requests.

Meet Your Community Engagement Officers

This program partners Troop Commanders of the DSP with some of Delaware’s distinguished community, business, and political leaders. The program encourages an exchange of ideas, experiences, and friendships between key leaders of the surrounding communities and the troop’s territory. By building and strengthening community relationships, commanders and honorary commanders can positively affect their community.

Honorary Commanders

Troop commanders host a “meet and greet” at a public location within their troop’s jurisdiction. Check the DSP Social Media pages for updates and announcements on future events.
In August and September, Community Engagement Troopers will collect and distribute backpacks and school supplies to students in need. This is a statewide initiative. The Troopers partner with schools and businesses that help identify students who may not have the resources or means to obtain these items.
Through a partnership with the Kent County Crime Watch program, the Delaware State Police attends their monthly meeting held at Kent County Levy Court in Dover. These meetings allow individuals the opportunity to speak with Troopers about problems they are having in their communities and allow DSP an opportunity to let community members know what crime trends, scams, or significant events are occurring where they live. Safety information is also provided.
STARS stands for “State Troopers Actively Reaching Students”. This is a partnership established within school districts in the state. The program is designed to have assigned Troopers in the schools at scheduled times to build positive relationships with students and to act as mentors.
Community Engagement Troopers routinely present to senior citizens about personal safety, crime prevention, and crime trends targeting their age group. This program allows senior citizens to become better prepared against fraud, scams, theft, and other crimes. Troopers will also act as a guide for other services or resources.
A Safety Assessment is completed on any community, home or business as requested. These assessments provide information on what residents or employees can do to help make it a safer place. Please contact your local Community Engagement Trooper for assistance in scheduling these events.
