Troopers Arrest Two Men on Felony Drug Charges

The Delaware State Police have arrested 26-year-old Thomas Ponzo of Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania and 32-year-old Khyree Dacoste of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on felony drug charges following an incident that occurred yesterday afternoon.

On March 10, 2023, troopers learned that Thomas Ponzo was using a 2021 Nissan Sentra to transport a significant amount of methamphetamine to a residence in Clayton. Troopers from the Kent County Governor’s Task Force and assisting officers from Probation & Parole located the Sentra in the Clayton area and were able to take Ponzo into custody as he stood outside of the car. However, the driver of the Sentra, identified as Khyree Dacoste, began driving away from troopers. Troopers used a “Stop Stick” to deflate the Sentra’s tires, and Dacoste was taken into custody a short distance away without further incident. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately four pounds of methamphetamine.

Ponzo and Dacoste were taken to Troop 3 and charged with the following crimes:

Thomas Ponzo:

  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Felony)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Felony)
  • Tampering With Physical Evidence (Felony)
  • Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)

Khyree Dacoste:

  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Felony)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Felony)
  • Tampering With Physical Evidence (Felony)
  • Disregarding a Police Officer Signal (Felony)
  • Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)

Ponzo and Dacoste were arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2. Ponzo was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $41,000 cash bond, and Dacoste was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $41,500 cash bond.

Troopers Arrest Man for Felony DUI and Drug Possession

The Delaware State Police have arrested 58-year-old Dale Wilson of Laurel, Delaware for felony DUI and drug possession following a traffic stop that occurred in Laurel last night.

On March 6, 2023, at approximately 9:39 p.m., a trooper on patrol observed a red Ford F-250 turning left onto Grazing Court from Discount Land Road. The trooper saw that the driver was not wearing his seatbelt, and he stopped the truck in the Hollybrook apartment complex. The trooper contacted the driver and only occupant, identified as Dale Wilson, and noticed signs of impairment. The trooper began a DUI investigation and Wilson was subsequently taken into custody without incident. A search of Wilson’s truck led to the discovery of approximately 8.07 grams of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Troopers also found additional paraphernalia that Wilson had thrown into the grass during the traffic stop. A computer check of Wilson showed that he had two prior convictions for DUI.

Wilson was taken to Troop 5 and charged with the following crimes:

  • 3rd Offense Driving Under the Influence (Felony)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 1 Quantity (Felony)
  • Tampering With Physical Evidence (Felony)
  • Providing a False Statement to Law Enforcement
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Several traffic offenses

Wilson was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and was released on his own recognizance.

Troopers Arrest Man on Gun and Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop

The Delaware State Police have arrested 48-year-old Kevin Walker of Dover, Delaware on drug dealing and firearm charges following a traffic stop that occurred yesterday evening in Camden.

On February 22, 2023, at approximately 6:20 p.m., a trooper on patrol observed a black 2020 Chevrolet Camaro traveling southbound on South Dupont Highway south of Dover. The trooper recognized the driver as Kevin Walker, and a computer check showed that Walker had a suspended driver’s license. Troopers stopped Walker on East Street south of East Camden Wyoming Avenue and asked him to exit the car. A drug-certified canine then conducted a free-air sniff of the Camaro’s exterior, and the dog alerted to the presence of an odor of narcotics. A probable cause search of the car led to the discovery of the following:

  • Approximately 42.90 grams of crack cocaine
  • Approximately 81.60 grams of methamphetamine
  • Approximately 655 baggies containing approximately 4.585 grams of suspected heroin
  • Approximately 41.08 grams of marijuana
  • Approximately 1.34 grams of cocaine
  • Approximately twelve Suboxone strips
  • Approximately 35 prescription pills of various types
  • A concealed and loaded 9-millimeter handgun
  • Drug paraphernalia

A computer check of Walker showed that Walker is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms.

Walker was taken to Troop 3 and charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Felony) – 2 counts
  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 2 Quantity (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
  • Possession of Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony) – 7 counts
  • Carrying a Concealed Firearm (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm While Possessing a Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Driving While Suspended / Revoked

Walker was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $243,500 cash bond.

State Police Arrest Woman on Gun and Drug Dealing Charges

The Delaware State Police have arrested 40-year-old Trillian Reidy of Camden-Wyoming, Delaware on drug dealing and weapon charges following the execution of a search warrant on Tuesday.

On February 21, 2023, at approximately 8:55 p.m., troopers concluded a narcotics investigation into Trillian Reidy and executed a search warrant on a residence on the 3000 block of Mud Mill Road in Camden-Wyoming. Troopers entered the home and found Reidy hiding in a closet. She was subsequently taken into custody without incident. A search of the home led to the discovery of the following:

  • Approximately 479 baggies containing approximately 3.353 grams of suspected heroin
  • Approximately 33.02 grams of methamphetamine
  • Six Xanax pills
  • Approximately 0.8 grams of MDMA
  • Over $850 in suspected drug dealing proceeds
  • Various items of drug paraphernalia
  • A .25 caliber handgun

Computer checks showed that Reidy is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms.

Reidy was taken to Troop 3 and charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony) – 2 counts
  • Possession of a Substance in a Tier 2 Quantity (Felony)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance – 2 counts
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Reidy was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $21,800 secured bond.

State Police Arrest Man for Drug Dealing

The Delaware State Police have arrested 31-year-old Kevann McCasline of New Castle, Delaware on numerous drug dealing charges following a narcotics investigation that began in December.

In December 2022, the Delaware State Police initiated an investigation into Kevann McCasline after troopers received information that he was actively selling narcotics from his residence. On the morning of February 17, 2023, troopers executed a search warrant on McCasline’s property on Freedom Trail in New Castle, and McCasline was taken into custody after he initially resisted arrest. A search of the property led to the discovery of the following:

  • Approximately 52 grams of crack cocaine
  • Approximately 35 grams of methamphetamine
  • Approximately 84 wax bags containing approximately 0.588 grams of suspected heroin
  • Approximately 10 grams of marijuana
  • Various items of drug paraphernalia

McCasline was taken to Troop 2 and charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Felony) – 2 counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Felony) – 2 counts
  • Operating a Clandestine Laboratory (Felony)
  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Possession of Marijuana

McCasline was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $271,001 cash bond.

Traffic Stop Results in Gun and Drug Arrest

The Delaware State Police have arrested 20-year-old Jeremiah Weatherspoon of Magnolia, Delaware on gun and drug charges following a traffic stop that occurred yesterday morning.

On February 18, 2023, at approximately 9:00 a.m., a trooper on patrol observed a silver Honda sedan traveling southbound on South Dupont Highway in Dover. The trooper noticed that the driver failed to stop for a red turn arrow as he turned left onto Walnut Shade Road from South Dupont Highway. The trooper stopped the car and contacted the driver and only occupant, identified as Jeremiah Weatherspoon. The trooper smelled the odor of marijuana and Weatherspoon failed to show valid proof of insurance for the Honda. Weatherspoon was asked to exit the car, and a probable cause search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 29.32 grams of marijuana and a concealed and loaded handgun. Weatherspoon is 20 years old and is prohibited from possessing a firearm and/or ammunition.

Weatherspoon was taken to Troop 3 and charged with the following crimes.

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
  • Possession of Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
  • Carrying a Concealed Firearm (Felony)
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Traffic violations

Weatherspoon was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released on $15,300 unsecured bond.

Troopers Arrest Man on Gun and Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop

The Delaware State Police have arrested 26-year-old Malik Smith of Camden-Wyoming, Delaware on gun and drug charges following a traffic stop that occurred yesterday morning in Dover.

On February 16, 2023, at approximately 10:56 a.m., a trooper on patrol observed a silver 2015 Mazda 3 traveling eastbound on Wyoming Avenue approaching South State Street. A computer check of the car’s registration showed that the registered owner had a suspended driver’s license and two active capiases. The trooper conducted a traffic stop on the Mazda and contacted the car owner and driver, identified as Malik Smith. The trooper smelled marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle, and Smith was taken into custody without incident. A probable cause search of the Mazda led to the discovery of a concealed handgun and approximately 7.78 grams of marijuana.

Smith was taken to Troop 3 and charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm While Possessing a Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Driving While Suspended or Revoked

Smith was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on his own recognizance.

Troopers Arrest Man on Gun Charges Following Traffic Stop

The Delaware State Police have arrested 29-year-old Colby Camper of Harrington, Delaware on gun and drug charges following a traffic stop that occurred late last night in Seaford.

On February 10, 2023, at approximately 11:40 p.m., a trooper on patrol observed a white Honda Civic traveling southbound on Coverdale Road south of Mill Park Drive at a very high rate of speed. The trooper stopped the Civic and contacted the driver, identified as Colby Camper. Camper did not have his license with him and appeared to be very nervous. During the stop the trooper learned that Camper had just purchased drugs and had a gun inside of the car. Camper was taken into custody at the scene without incident, and a search of the Civic led to the discovery of a concealed handgun, approximately 9 grams of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

Camper was taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm While Possessing a Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Carrying a Concealed Firearm (Felony)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Numerous traffic offenses

Camper was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $15,300 secured bond.

State Police Arrest Four People on Drug Dealing and Gun Charges

The Delaware State Police have arrested 23-year-old John Wyatte of Dover, Delaware and three other people after concluding a drug investigation yesterday in Dover.

On February 8, 2023, at approximately 2:26 p.m., Wyatte was observed participating in a drug transaction in the Dover area. Wyatte then entered the back of a silver 2022 Toyota RAV4 and traveled to the Redner’s Market located at 2500 South Dupont Highway in Camden. Troopers conducted a traffic stop on the Toyota in the parking lot, but the driver, identified as 28-year-old Ronald Maddray, fled from the car on foot. Troopers gave chase and detained Maddray a short time later without incident. Troopers also took Wyatte into custody, along with two other passengers, identified as 21-year-old Briana Winder and 28-year-old Marvin Farlow.

A search of the RAV4 and the immediate surrounding area led to the discovery of the following:

  • Approximately 91.04 grams of crack cocaine
  • Approximately 35 Oxycodone pills
  • Approximately 44 doses of buprenorphine
  • Approximately 102 glassine baggies containing approximately 0.714 grams of suspected heroin
  • Approximately 3.01 grams of marijuana
  • Over $3,600 in suspected drug dealing proceeds
  • Two loaded handguns

Computer checks showed that both Wyatte and Maddray are convicted felons prohibited from possessing firearms.

Wyatte, Maddray, Winder, and Farlow were taken to Troop 3 and charged with the following crimes:

John Wyatte of Dover, Delaware:

  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony) – 2 counts

Troopers Arrest Man on Drug Dealing Charges

The Delaware State Police arrested 61-year-old Tyler Sutton of Lewes, Delaware yesterday afternoon on drug dealing charges following a traffic stop that occurred in Lewes.

On February 2, 2023, at approximately 4:10 p.m., a trooper on patrol observed a gold 2013 Cadillac SRX traveling northbound on Coastal Highway approaching the intersection at Lewes Georgetown Highway. The driver and only occupant of the Cadillac was seen talking on his cell phone, and the trooper conducted a traffic stop on the car in a nearby business parking lot. The trooper contacted the driver, who was identified as Tyler Sutton, and noticed that he appeared to be extremely nervous. Sutton also did not have his license, registration, or proof of insurance in his possession. The trooper asked Sutton to exit the Cadillac, and afterwards he had his drug-certified canine partner conduct a free-air sniff of the car’s exterior. The dog alerted to the presence of an odor of narcotics, and a search of the car led to the discovery of approximately 450 MDMA / ecstasy tablets in the trunk stored in a large plastic bag. Sutton was also found to be in possession of approximately $2,200 in suspected drug dealing proceeds.

Sutton was detained and taken to Troop 7, where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Felony)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Numerous traffic offense

Sutton was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $52,000 secured bond.
