The Delaware State Police arrested a 15-year-old Middletown High School student on firearms and related charges after a loaded handgun was discovered in his bag on Tuesday afternoon.
On the morning of October 27, 2026, the DSP School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to Middletown High School, located at 120 Silver Lake Road in Middletown, was notified of an incident that had occurred the previous day. It was reported that the suspect, a 15-year-old male student from Middletown, DE, had displayed a knife that he was carrying in a crossbody bag and made threatening statements. A concerned parent reported the incident to the school, prompting an immediate investigation. However, staff determined that the suspect had not yet arrived.
At approximately 10:40 a.m., the suspect arrived at the school. The SRO and school staff observed the student and immediately approached him. As they escorted him into a nearby empty classroom, he refused to surrender his bookbag and the crossbody bag he was wearing. He began to resist, and a struggle ensued.
