The Delaware State Police is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Saturday morning in Laurel.
On February 28, 2026, at approximately 2:25 a.m., a Chevrolet S10 was traveling westbound on Laurel Road west of Curley Road, in Laurel. For reasons currently under investigation, the vehicle failed to negotiate a slight curve and ran off the south edge of the roadway. The vehicle then entered a deep ditch, struck a tree, and overturned onto its roof.
The driver, a 26-year-old man from Laurel, was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.
The roadway was closed for approximately three hours for the preliminary crash investigation.
The investigation is still ongoing by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit. Troopers ask anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information to contact Master Corporal K.
