The Delaware State Police is investigating a shots fired incident that occurred late Wednesday night at a gas station in Claymont.
On February 18, 2026, at approximately 11:50 p.m., troopers responded to the Sunoco located at 3615 Philadelphia Pike, for a report of shots fired. The preliminary investigation revealed a gray sedan arrived at the gas station and parked near a fuel pump. The driver exited the vehicle and entered the convenience store. A short time later, a second vehicle arrived and parked nearby. The occupants of that vehicle also entered the store.
After a brief interaction between the two parties, the driver of the sedan ran back to his vehicle. As the other two individuals exited the store, an unknown suspect fired multiple handgun rounds from the sedan towards them. Everyone fled the scene prior to police arrival.
There were no reported injuries however the store was damaged by gunfire.
The Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this incident. Detectives ask anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information to contact Detective B.
