Kent County Governor’s Task Force Arrest Smyrna Man for Gun and Drug Offenses

Delaware State Police have arrested 25-year-old Nasir Wayman of Smyrna, Delaware, for felony gun and drug charges in Smyrna.

Earlier this month, members of the Kent County Governor’s Task Force began an investigation of Nasir Wayman and the distribution of illegal narcotics. Further investigation revealed that he also had a capias warrant for his arrest. On November 11, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., detectives on patrol saw a Kia Optima, driven by Wayman, pulling into the parking lot of ACME, located at 236 East Glenwood Avenue in Smyrna. When detectives approached the Optima, Wayman fled from them and while running, discarded drugs in the parking lot. He was ultimately arrested after the foot chase and Taser deployment.

During a search of the parking lot, Wayman, and the Optima, detectives discovered the following items:

  • Approximately 4.05 grams of heroin
  • Loaded 9mm handgun with an obliterated serial number

Wayman was taken to Troop 3 where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $70,000 cash bond.

  • Tampering with Physical Evidence (Felony)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
