Troopers Arrest Man for 10th Offense DUI following Traffic Stop in Lincoln

Delaware State Police arrested 58-year-old Anthony Nesmith of Lincoln, Delaware, for a 10th offense felony DUI following a traffic stop in Lincoln on Friday night.

On July 5, 2024, at approximately 9:15 p.m., a trooper on patrol in the area of Greentop Road and Greely Avenue, Lincoln, observed a black Acura RL fail to maintain its lane as it was traveling westbound on Greely Avenue. The trooper conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Anthony Nesmith. During the contact with Nesmith, the trooper observed multiple signs of impairment and administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Following the tests, Nesmith was taken into custody without incident for driving under the influence. A computer inquiry revealed Nesmith had 9 prior DUI-related convictions.

Nesmith was transported to Troop 7, where he was charged with the crime listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $8,000 cash bond.
