Troopers Arrest Man for Multiple Felony Charges Following an Assault and Burglary

The Delaware State Police have arrested 23-year-old Davion West of Millsboro, Delaware for multiple felony charges stemming from a domestic incident in Millsboro followed by a burglary in Milton early this morning.

On September 22, 2023, at approximately 1:40 a.m., troopers responded to a residence on the 25000 block of River Bend Road, Millsboro, for a report of a stabbing. Troopers arrived at the scene and made contact with the 20-year-old victim, who declined treatment for her injuries. Troopers learned that the victim’s partner, identified as Davion West, entered a bedroom occupied by the sleeping victim and their 9-month-old baby. West woke the victim up, and during the subsequent argument, stabbed her in the leg with a knife. West then fled the scene in a red Mazda 3 that he stole from the residence. A trooper searching the area for West observed the Mazda traveling on Harbeson Road in the area of Carpenter Road. The trooper initiated a traffic stop, however the Mazda continued to flee at a high rate of speed, until it lost control and crashed on private property. West abandoned the disabled Mazda and fled on foot through a cornfield. As troopers continued to canvas the area for West, they received reports of a subject trespassing and unlawfully entering a garage of a residence on Shingle Point Road in Milton. Troopers responded to the residence in Milton and located West in the garage. He was taken into custody without incident.

Troopers recovered a knife in the bedroom of the Millsboro home. West was taken to Troop 7 and charged with the following crimes:

  • Burglary First Degree (Felony)
  • Assault Second Degree (Felony)
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon (Felony)
  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle (Felony)
  • Disregarding a Police Officer Signal (Felony)
  • Attempted to Commit Theft of a Motor Vehicle (Felony)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child
  • Criminal Mischief
  • Driving While Suspended
  • Additional Traffic Offenses

West was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $84,400 secured bond.
