Date Posted: Wednesday, April 19th, 2023

Delaware State Police have arrested 39-year-old Dimitri Taylor of Wilmington, DE for felony assault following an investigation that began on Tuesday morning.

On April 18, 2023, at approximately 10:05 a.m., troopers responded to a medical complex located at 700 Prides Crossing, Newark regarding an assault. The ensuing investigation revealed that a 71-year-old male victim and Dimitri Taylor attempted to pull into the same parking spot at that location. After a verbal argument, the victim attempted to find another parking spot. Taylor parked his vehicle and chased the victim’s vehicle around the parking lot punching the driver’s side window. The victim eventually parked his vehicle in a separate spot, exited, and pleaded with the suspect to stop and that he was calling the police. The suspect then punched the victim causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head. The victim was transported to an area hospital and listed in critical condition.

Taylor later turned himself in at Troop 6 where he was charged with Assault First Degree (Felony). Taylor was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 2 and released on a $10,000 unsecured bail.
