Delaware State Police Arrest Subject for Five Commercial Burglaries

Delaware State Police have arrested 62-year-old William Davis of Wilmington, DE on numerous criminal charges following burglary investigations to various businesses in the Wilmington area in early March.

Beginning on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at approximately 10:47 p.m., through Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at approximately 12:26 a.m., the Delaware State Police investigated a series of burglaries to various businesses along Philadelphia Pike and Concord Pike in the Wilmington area. The suspect made forced entry into four businesses by smashing the front glass door or window.  Additionally, the same suspect on March 12, 2023, at approximately 2:00 a.m., made forced entry through the front door to the Cricket Wireless located at 622 South Maryland Avenue, Wilmington, and removed merchandise.

Through investigative means, troopers determined William Davis was the suspect in the five commercial burglaries. On April 6, 2023, Davis was located by troopers leaving his residence in Wilmington and was taken into custody without incident. Subsequently, troopers executed a search warrant at Davis’s residence which led to the discovery of items utilized and stolen property linked to the five described burglaries.

Davis was transported to Troop 1 and charged with the following crimes:

  • Burglary Third Degree (Felony) – 5 counts
  • Possession of Burglar Tools (Felony)
  • Theft Under $1,500
  • Criminal Mischief Under $1,000 – 3 counts
  • Criminal Mischief Over $1,000 – 2 counts

Davis was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 2 and released on his own recognizance.
