Troopers Arrest Man for Shopping Mall Burglary

Troopers have arrested 29-year-old Shawn Williams, of Middletown, in connection with three burglaries that occurred in March.

On March 18, 2023, at approximately 12:20 p.m., troopers responded to 132 Christiana Mall Road for a burglary investigation at CLA Lyfe Style. The investigation revealed an unknown suspect entered the mall through an unsecured door while the business was closed. Once inside, the suspect stole numerous clothing items from the kiosk.

While the troopers were investigating the March 18th burglary, the employee reported an additional burglary that occurred on March 11, 2023, at the same location. During this incident, the suspect entered through an unsecured door within the mall and stole an unknown amount of merchandise from the kiosk.

On March 22, 2023, at approximately 11:51 a.m., troopers responded to CLA Lyfe Style for another burglary. This investigation revealed that an unknown suspect entered the mall through an unsecured door before the shopping mall opened. The suspect then cut open the cover of the Kiosk and damaged other property belonging to CLA Lyfe Style. Numerous clothing items were also stolen during this incident.

Through investigative means, troopers were able to identify Shawn Williams as the suspect in all three burglaries. On March 22, 2023, troopers responded to Williams’ place of employment and took him into custody without incident. He was transported to Troop 6, where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Wearing a Disguise during the Commission of a Felony (Felony) – 2 counts
  • Burglary Third Degree (Felony) – 3 counts
  • Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)
  • Theft Under $1500 (Misdemeanor) – 3 counts
  • Criminal Mischief (Misdemeanor)

Williams was arraigned at the Justice of the Peace Court # 2 and released on his own recognizance.
