Date Posted: Sunday, October 23rd, 2022

Delaware State Police have arrested Lashawnda Jones, 42 of Wilmington, Delaware following a robbery investigation that began on Saturday morning.

On October 22, 2022, at approximately 11:23 p.m., troopers were dispatched to the TD Bank located at 1001 East Songsmith Drive, Bear regarding a robbery. The ensuing investigation revealed that a female suspect had entered the business and presented a demand note to the bank teller. The victim notified her manager, at which point the suspect fled the business without obtaining any cash.  The suspect fled the scene in a maroon Nissan Altima.

Shortly after, information was obtained that the same suspect operating a maroon Nissan Altima attempted a second robbery at a TD Bank located in West Chester, PA. Troopers then began conducting proactive patrols at TD Banks in the area. At approximately 1:00 p.m., a trooper located the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of the TD bank located at 4010 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE. As the suspect was entering the business, she observed the trooper and fled back to her vehicle. The trooper apprehended the suspect, identified as Lashawnda Jones, and took her into custody without incident. Upon taking Jones into custody, troopers discovered she was in possession of a large kitchen knife.

Jones was then transported back to Troop 2 where she was charged with the following crimes:

  • Attempted Robbery Second Degree (Felony)
  • Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)

Jones was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court # 11 and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $12,000 cash bond.
