Troopers Arrest Subject for Multiple Burglaries and Related Charges

Date Posted: Tuesday, June 7th, 2022

Delaware State Police arrested Darryl Naser, 29, of Far Rockaway, NY for multiple burglaries and related charges following two incidents that occurred last night.

On June 6, 2022, at approximately 7:25 p.m., troopers responded to the 400 block of Wheatleys Pond Road, Clayton for an attempted burglary complaint. The investigation determined the suspect had attempted to make entrance through the garage of the residence but was unsuccessful. A 51-year-old female victim who was home at the time was alerted to the motion in the garage, and upon checking observed the suspect urinating on her front lawn. The victim’s husband, who was also home at the time, confronted the suspect and he fled the property on a bicycle.

With the assistance of Camden Police Department, the suspect’s bicycle was located in the driveway of a residence in the 1200 block of Wheatleys Pond Road. Officers confronted the suspect upon him exiting the residence, which caused him to drop stolen items and flee on foot. Officers gave chase and successfully took the suspect, identified as Darryl Naser, into custody without further incident. Naser was found to be in possession of approximately 1.88 grams of marijuana.

Further investigation revealed Naser had made entrance through an unlocked door and removed jewelry and electronics from within the home. All items were recovered.

Naser was transported to Troop 3 where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Burglary 2nd Degree (Felony)
  • Attempted Burglary 1st Degree (Felony)
  • Theft Under $1,500
  • Lewdness
  • Possession of Marijuana

Naser was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #7 and committed to the Sussex County Correctional Institution on $35,000 cash bond.
