Delaware State Police Arrest Subject for Theft of Construction Materials

Delaware State Police have arrested 49-year-old Ronnie Rust of Seaford, DE, for theft and trespass following an investigation into construction materials stolen on Thursday afternoon.

On May 5, 2022, at approximately 3:10 p.m., troopers responded to the 7000 block of Gum Branch Road in Seaford regarding a theft. The ensuing investigation revealed that the property owner had numerous sheets of plywood stolen from a site for a residence under construction. On May 6, 2022, the Troop 4 Property Crimes Unit began searching for the suspect, and detectives contacted Ronnie Rust at the Relax Inn in Laurel. Rust was subsequently taken into custody without incident. The stolen lumber was later located and recovered from a residence in Seaford.

Rust was transported to Troop 5, where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Theft Over $1,500 (Felony)
  • Criminal Trespass Third Degree

Rust was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 2 and released on his own recognizance.
