Two Men Arrested After Pursuit East of Seaford

Seaford, DE- Delaware State Police arrested Tazieh Clemmons, 18, of Seaford, on Wednesday for multiple criminal and traffic charges after he fled from troopers and was found in possession of drugs.

On March 2, 2022, at approximately 2:02 p.m., Delaware State Police were conducting proactive patrol on Old Furnace Road when they observed the driver of a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee not wearing his seatbelt. A traffic stop was initiated on the Jeep, but the driver, later identified as Tazieh Clemmons, failed to stop. When Clemmons turned onto King Road, he stopped and fled on foot. Troopers and a Delaware State Police K-9 gave chase, and Clemmons was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit. Located on Clemmons were 0.546 grams of heroin and $2,587.00 in suspected drug proceeds.

At the same time, another trooper at the scene contacted front-seat passenger Julius Cheers, 18, of Salisbury, MD. Cheers threw his cellphone and drug paraphernalia to the ground as he was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody without incident. A strong odor of marijuana was detected emitting from inside the Jeep, and a search of the Jeep Cherokee was conducted. Located inside were $146.00 in suspected drug proceeds and approximately 74.46 grams of marijuana.

Clemmons was transported to an area hospital for minor injuries received during the apprehension. He was treated, released, and transported to Delaware State Police Troop 4.

  • 2 Counts- Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Disregarding a Police Officer Signal (Felony)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • 2 Counts- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 
  • Multiple Traffic Violations

He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $7,005.00 secured bond.

Cheers was charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • 2 Counts- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 

He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #2 and released on a $3,000.00 unsecured bond.
