Troopers Arrest Farmington Man After Collision in Stolen Vehicle- Milford

Milford, DE- Delaware State Police arrested Levi D. Collins, 28, of Farmington, on multiple charges after crashing a stolen car on Wednesday afternoon.

On February 2, 2022, at approximately 4:29p.m., Collins was driving a 2011 Hyundai Sonata eastbound on Canterbury Road in the area of Rothermel Road. At the same time, a 23-year-old Hartly woman was driving a 2013 Hyundai Sonata traveling westbound on Canterbury Road in the same area. As the the two vehicles passed, the front of Collins’ vehicle side swiped the 2013 Hyundai, before he traveled off the roadway into a field. Collins was not injured during the collision.  The other operator was transported by EMS to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

As troopers were conducting the crash investigation, Collins provided a fictitious name and could not provide documentation for the vehicle he was operating. A criminal investigation ensued and it was determined the 2011 Hyundai Sonata he was driving was stolen out of Miami, Florida. Collins was taken into custody without incident and transported to Delaware State Police Troop 3 and charged with the following crimes:

  • Receiving Stolen Property (Felony)
  • Criminal Impersonation
  • Driving While Suspended
  • Failure to have Required Insurance
  • Fictitious Number Plate
  • Failure to Surrender Cancelled Registration Card
  • Failure to Travel Within Single Lane
  • Fail to Drive at Speeds Appropriate for Conditions

Collins was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #2 and issued a $2,503.00 secured bond.

A computer check conducted revealed Collins was wanted on an active felony warrant out of Delaware State Police Troop 3. On December 31, 2022, at approximately 4:23 a.m., a 2014 Ford ECS van was stolen from the parking lot of Trinity Wesleyan Church located at 1564 S. State Street, Dover, by two unknown suspects. Through investigative measures, Collins was identified as one of the suspects in the vehicle theft. Collins was charged with the following crimes:

  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle (Felony)
  • Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)
  • Theft Under $1,500
  • Criminal Trespass Third Degree

Collins was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #2 and issued a $3,001.00 secured bond.

He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on the two secured bonds.
