Wilmington– The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit have arrested Marvin Dejesus-Santiago, 30, of Wilmington, DE, for Murder 1st Degree and related charges from an incident in late August.

The incident was reported at approximately 6:14 a.m., Thursday, August 26, 2021, when troopers responded to the Sunoco gas station located at 1950 Maryland Avenue, Wilmington, for a report of a subject shot. Upon their arrival, a 34-year-old male victim, identified as Juan Alicea-Rodriguez was located outside the front of the convenience store with apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigation determined two unknown males approached the victim in front of the convenience store and opened fire.

Through investigative means, homicide detectives identified one of the suspects as Marvin Dejesus-Santiago. DeJesus has been housed at the Violation of Probation Center at Sussex Correctional Institution, since November 8, 2021. DeJesus was indicted by grand jury on December 20, 2021 and on December 31, 2021 he was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and remained in the custody of the Department of Corrections on $1,086,000 cash bond.

The investigation is ongoing and Homicide Unit detectives are still attempting to identify the second suspect.
