Delaware State Police Arrest Smyrna Man For Felony Drug Possession at Casino- Newark

Newark- Delaware State Police arrested William Brisco, 37, of Smyrna, DE, on felony drug possession and related charges following an incident at Delaware Park Casino Friday night.

On December 10, 2021, at approximately 7:15 p.m., troopers working an extra duty assignment at Delaware Park Casino located at 777 Delaware Park Blvd., Newark, responded to the parking lot for illegally parked vehicles. One of the vehicles, a red Chevy Trailblazer was left running and four young children (ages 4,7,9, and 12) were left inside. The investigation determined the suspect, William Brisco placed a bet within the casino and then returned to his vehicle where troopers were standing by. During the interaction with Brisco, one of the troopers observed a large bag of suspected cocaine protruding from the jacket sleeve of the suspect. The trooper immediately recovered the drugs, and the suspect fled on foot. Troopers gave chase and located the suspect hiding behind trees on the property. Brisco was commanded out, and successfully taken into custody without further incident. Upon taking Brisco into custody, troopers discovered a digital scale and $390 of suspected drug proceeds in his possession.

Brisco was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 2 and charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance Tier 3 Quantity (Felony)
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child- 4 counts
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Unattended Motor Vehicle

Brisco was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and released after posting a $7,050 unsecured bond.
