Delaware State Police Arrest Two Juveniles for Armed Robbery- Claymont

Wilmington- Delaware State Police arrested two 15-year-old juveniles, one of Wilmington and one of Claymont, DE following an armed robbery yesterday afternoon.

The incident occurred on November 8, 2021, at approximately 3:30 p.m., when troopers responded to the area of Claymont Elementary School located at 3401 Green Street, Claymont in reference to an armed robbery. The 24-year-old male victim was walking home from work on Philadelphia Pike and utilized the pathway between Claymont Elementary School and a neighboring building to gain access to the I-95 pedestrian overpass. The victim was followed by a large group of juveniles as he approached the foot bridge. As he crossed the pedestrian bridge, three juveniles emerged from the group and approached him. One suspect displayed a firearm and demanded cash while the second physical assaulted the victim and stole his shoulder bag containing personal items. The suspects then fled the scene on foot.

Multiple troopers responded and canvassed the area for the suspects. All three suspects matching the description were located in the area of the incident and taken into custody. The 15-year-old suspect of Wilmington was located hiding behind a shed of a residence on Seminole Ave, Claymont. Upon locating this suspect, troopers also discovered a black 25 caliber handgun in close proximity.

All suspects were transported back to Troop 2 where they were charged with the following:

15-year-old Wilmington juvenile

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Juvenile (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Robbery 1st Degree (Felony)
  • Reckless Endangering 1st Degree (Felony)
  • Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony)

The 15-year-old Wilmington juvenile was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #11 and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $69,000 secured bond.

15-year-old Claymont juvenile

  • Robbery 1st Degree (Felony)
  • Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony)

The 15-year-old Claymont juvenile was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #11 and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $31,000 secured bond.

The third juvenile suspect was not charged.
